A Miami Jones Case #9

Cruise Control

Rate this book
It's Tuxedos And Tank Tops At Forty Paces As Miami Jones Takes To The High Seas. Miami Jones—Palm Beach's favorite PI—enjoys a quiet beer with friends as much as the next guy. He just never really saw the point of doing it while floating around with 2,000 strangers. But when he is hired on a most delicate case, Miami finds himself navigating not only the turquoise waters of the Bahamas, but also a mystery man who may or may not exist, a crazed Cleveland Browns fan harboring a grudge, and a gaggle of Palm Beach's finest—and most infamous—residents.

An okay Miami Jones novel. I found the story line a bit more predictable than some of Stewart's other MJ novels. But, as with all of the MJ stories, Stewart has a tendency to end a chapter with a 'quick, turn the page', scene.

I loved this book from start to finish and am already looking forward to the next installment (no pressure AJ Stewart).

Miami Jones is back in an eagerly awaited new adventure that has him taking to the high seas on a Super Bowl cruise with Palm Beach's finest. When a client asks Miami to follow his jeweller wife who he suspects of having an affair, MJ is thrown into the midst of a plot to steal a set of highly valuable reproduction Super Bowl rings which are set to be auctioned on the cruise. With his trademark wit and charm, he soon puts the clients wife offside and his investigation in jeopardy but in trademark style he doesn't flinch. With his Fiance Danielle by his side, Miami survives an unplanned deep sea swim, the acid tongue of his client's wife and several run-in's with former client-turned nemesis BJ Baker to track down the missing rings and solve the mystery.

AJ Stewart has knocked this one out of the park and further solidified the Miami Jones series as a guaranteed good read. Character development is quite strong in this book as the core characters MJ, Ron and Danielle seem to be a little more defined and the reader gets to know the Lady Cassandra just that little bit more. The book follows a familiar successful pattern from previous novels and does a good job of staying true to its core themes while being different enough from past stories to keep it fresh. It also sets up a number of different ways the next MJ episode can go.

If you are familiar with Miami Jones, and most of you probably are, then you know you are off to a really good time. This time Miami is hired to check on a cheating wife. He and Danielle get to go on a cruise. It is a Superbowl Theme cruise to the Bahamas. It is amazing how much action can take place in so few days, on a cruise ship. The wife is a jewelry who has two sets of NFL authorized Superbowl replica rings. Naturally they get stolen. Lenny would be proud of how Miami solves this mystery, even though that is not what he was hired to do. Love this series!

Another great read from A. J. Stewart. I really enjoy reading about Miami Jones and the gang. He's always in the midst of some kind of problem. This time it's from a job for his PI business and it involves a cruise. Perfect timing since Danielle hasn't gotten her new assignment yet and his house isn't quite done from the remodel. I like how each book flows from the previous one, but they can still be standalones. Miami Jones and his humor is much like DeMille's John Corey. Try reading it, I think you'll like it.

Huge fan of AJ Stewart so of course I wasn’t disappointed with a new tale with the amazing Miami Jones. Always a “feel good” read with a little humor, mystery and the best bunch of friends anyone could ask for in this life. You get what you give and kindness matters is always the type of feeling your left with on the last pages and Miami is a humble receiver of good karma. From the characters, to the scenery and the mystery I always finish AJ Stewart’s books too quickly. Ready for the next one!

"A pirates life for me!"

From this series of books my knowledge of eclectic subjects has increased and is appreciated! I already knew the background story for this book as I have sailed on over 40 cruises. The author's attention to details such as "I-95", the private island, and security measures are most accurate. I have experienced all that MJ did on cruises except his "ocean swim". As always, great storytelling Mr. Stewart!

Shenanigans on the High Sea

An ocean cruise is not really my turf, so it was up to Miami to provide the enjoyment, and he did so very dutifully by revealing previously unknown parts of himself. I like him even more and am looking foward to seeing how his and Danielle's relationship unfolds. Two fine people whose attributes complement one another, they make an unbeatable team.

Another winner

I read about one book a week. I wish they were all as good as the Miami Jones series. A.J.'s characters are not to be outdone. If I were to meet them, I think we would hang out and have a blast.

This is the A.J. Stewart I've come to love.

Stewart's last book was a bit of a diversion from his other Miami Jones's mysteries. This one didn't rock the boat at all. The characters, the adventure, the background, and the human relationship are all their. Awesome.

Cruising with the oldies.

This saga of the Miami Jones crew brings out a different feeling of confinement within the writing. The ship, the cruise, the island all came together and didn't hit me until the end. Loved the story. You'll want to read it.

Fun, light, Florida setting, very enjoyable read. I have read every book in this series and found them to be well written and enjoyable. The stories of hurricanes, in state school rivalries, and other aspects are very well captured.

Fun, just plain fun watching it fall into place.

Real people, real places, real

Book 9 in the series

Miami is hired to find out if a wife is having an affair. Part of the job involves a cruise with Danielle, Superbowl rings, the ship’s crew, and bad guys. Interesting and well written. A great story.

Fun book!!

A.J. came through with another good edition to the Miami series. Nothing like a cruise ship mistry with some extra excitement from the cast of characters!!
