With puppies in our house again, this book couldn’t have come at a better time! We enjoyed reading through all the poems and seeing the adorable pup photos with each one.

My young children are often curious as to what our puppies are really thinking. What do they think about the rain and the sun? Do they wonder what the critters are crawling on the ground? This collection of poems is alive with many canine adventures which makes it perfect for young readers. It opens up opportunities for many dis

This is a wonderful book of poems that help create special moments with your children. The tone, wording and maturity of the poems are clearly for children and I'm thinking from about 5 years old. There is a consistent style through each poem, so it is something that you can explain to a child and they can start to see the form and structure.

What I really liked about the book is that it is seen through the eyes of a dog but there isn’t an attempt to make every poem sentimental about i

What a beautiful, uplifting and endearing read. I enjoyed every poem and haiku and by the third photo that appeared between each text, I was also looking forward to the next one. Each picture was a surprise as was each little story giving voice to people's most favourite four-legged companions. I recommend this book to anyone, for any age group and especially to those in need of a quick relaxing escape from the daily grind! I felt as refreshed as I do when I've been on a walk through the woods. ...more

This is a truly delightful and uplifting book of poems through the eyes of mans faith friend and companion, his dog. I often use to look into the eyes of my own dogs and just wonder how they saw the world and well I think Pat Furstenberg has probably come up with the nearest possible answers.
There are groups of poems that come under the different headings of Questions, Colours, Musings and Haiku, with each individual poem beginning with a lovely photo of a canine friend. The poems reflect how ea

I have a confession to make. I’m not much of a dog lover. I’m more a cat person so I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy As Good As Gold, celebrating dogs.

I needn’t have worried. I thoroughly enjoyed this charming collection of verse and as a result of reading it I think I understand dogs so much better. I did rather enjoy the poems with cats in them too though! One element that particularly appealed to me was the range of nature and animals included. This isn’t just a collection of poems about dogs, b

I'm not a great reader of poetry, but when I do read it, it has to be accessible and easy to read otherwise I'm lost. I couldn't resist this compilation of poems about dogs though and I can say that it is definitely full of accessible and very sweet poetry.

It's made up of 35 poems and haiku and is separated into sections with the headings: Questions, Colours, Musings and Haiku. The very first poem is one of the Questions and is called Why, Hedgehog? It's a lovely start to the collection and is o

Dogs are full of questions, yet they are famed sellers of innocence especially when it comes to explaining their mishaps and often foolish effervescence through such pondering as “Why IS a Cat Not Like a Dog”, “As Brown as Chocolate”, “Silver Stars and Puppy Tail” or, best yet, “Dog or Book?

Regardless of your or your child’s age, this is a wonderful collection of poetry celebrating the wonderful world of our family pups. Grouped by Questions, Colors, Musing, and Haiku these poems are curious, funny, and wonderfully dreamy as Furstenberg shares her thoughts on the inner-workings of a pup’s mind.

As typical with Furstenberg’s writing, the creativity and vivid imagery poured into this collection is outstanding. However, I think the best aspect is the amazing versatility making these po

One of my favorite aspects of this short book were the puppy pictures! They were so cute and definitely made me smile. There was one in particular that reminded me of my own dog. 🙂

The different scenarios that were featured in this book seemed very realistic and were easy to picture. For example, when a cat entered a household, the atmosphere changed, but the puppy realized that a change doesn’t have to be bad. There were poems where dogs interacted with other animals (a hedgehog, an owl, a snak

This is the ABSOLUTE PERFECT book for poetry lovers, dog lovers, and nature lovers!

I have two great loves in my life, outside of my family, and that is books and dogs! Furstenburg captures exactly what makes dogs so very special. She gives us a peek into their lives and their connection to nature. I don’t usually read too much poetry, but I just adored this collection. The poetry I have read in the past hasn’t brought characters to life for me, but this one did. Each dog, cat, and animal was a c

I cannot remember the last time I indulged in some poetry, but if anything was going to attract me to this genre again, it was definitely puppies!

This is a fine selection of puppy poems; it puts the reader on four paws and lets them marvel at the wonder of the world and feel the excitement of every new experience. We are a dog family, currently with two labrador boys - as anyone who knows me will attest to. I've always said that having dogs is like having under fives, only they get to grips with

This book is absolutely delightful! I enjoyed each and every poem and found myself laughing out loud at some of the true antics of these adorable puppy thoughts.

I am a real dog lover and it was so wonderful reading poems about my favorite friend. I really enjoyed how Patricia brought other animals into the poems, too. I adore all the descriptive words about these other animals like pigeons, cats, frogs and more! I really felt like I was seeing things as my furry friends see them.

*Thank you to Patricia for providing me with a review copy. All opinions are my own.*

I’m a huge dog lover, and I couldn’t resist this book when it was offered to me. To top it off, I’m a lover of poetry, and I had been itching to read a collection for a while. It was a perfect mix.

I thoroughly enjoyed As Good As Gold. The photographs of the dogs that accompany the poems are adorable, and striking. They add another depth to the words, which I thought was beautiful.

The poetry is fantastic. I loved

As Good As Gold is a lovely, charming collection of thirty-five poems which are written through the eyes of a puppy. I was impressed with the level of imagination Patricia Furstenberg showed in her beautiful writing. It was a sheer pleasure to sit with a four-year-old and see the signs of wonder and recognition on his face. The poems are grouped into Questions, Colours, Musings, and Haiku. They promote conversation with children concerning wildlife, weather and the colours of nature. I think the ...more

This is a book of thirty-five delightful poems about puppies, a topic that can’t fail to appeal to children and adults alike. It's arranged into sections, the poems in each of a similar theme and illustrated with photos of really cute puppies. Themes include Questions, Colours, Musings and Haiku.
The poems describe puppies in a variety of amusing situations as they investigate their surroundings in an effort to discover what life is all about, often getting themselves into trouble as their boundl

I know I'm not alone when I say that I would give quite a substantial amount of money to know what my dogs are thinking some of the time. Honestly - what on Earth is going through their little doggy brains I'll just never know. And this book gives children the chance to imagine what their dogs might actually be thinking!

I loved this book, it's so engaging and because it is split into 35 poems it allows young readers to dip in and out at their leisure - not even necessitating a particular poem to

A very sweet book of poems and haiku about dogs, nature and dog’s human! It made me smile a lot. I really enjoyed the poem at the end about cats too (cats are my preferred animal but I love dogs too.) This would particularly appeal to readers who enjoy poems about animals, snowmen, Christmas, and life through the eyes of some very cute dogs. I loved the lovely photos of our furry friends in the book too.

It’s a feel good collection of doggy poetry which wou

As Good as Gold is a charming book of rhymes that describe different sights and sounds as seen through the eyes of a puppy. Each rhyme covers a different subject showing how the puppy interacts with different things often questioning why they are doing things and where do they come from.
Showcasing their natural inquisitiveness Patricia has created a book that will encourage children to look at things more closely.
I always enjoy reading Patricia’s books not just because they centre on dogs but

*I received a free copy of this book, with thanks to the author. The decision to review and my opinions are my own.*

As Good As Gold is a sweet, simple book of poetry that explores the world of dog’s from their own innocent and beatific viewpoint.

The book is split into sections, and I found the poems under Questions and Colours particularly appropriate for little ones just learning about nature, colours, seasons and wildlife.

All of the poems are suitable for animal lovers, obviously dog-lovers es

I chose to read this book after receiving a free e-copy. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.

As Good as Gold is a book full of poems about dogs and it’s a great book to share with children. It’s divided into four sections: Questions, Colors, Musings, and Haiku. I especially enjoyed the first section, Questions. A couple of the titles were “Why, Rain?” and “Why, Hedgehog?” They’re from the perspective of a puppy and are adorable. I can see reading a couple of these to c

Most of the poems are found in this sort of nature. Is it correct? Are the stanzas set up properly? I don’t know – I am not a poet critic so I cannot answer that fully. All I can tell you is that I enjoyed each poem and it reminded me of my dogs. I just wanted to go home and love them. I think that’s what poetry is supposed to be about. It’s supposed to be emotional, and affect everyone differently. I would say these poems were succes
