Tony Mason’s plan for his life was simple. Make amends for his past, keep his head down and focus exclusively on making his pet shops the best they could be. Simple right? It was, until he hired Sarah Fournier to be his new store manager. Then simple turned into chaos. From the moment Tony first sets eyes on Sarah he can’t deny his attraction to her but there are a couple of things wrong with this scenario. First, Sarah works for him. Second, she is so far out of his league he shouldn’t even think about acting on his feelings. Third, and most important, she is a good girl and Tony had never been into good girls. Sarah is so completely different from Tony’s usual type he doesn’t know what to do. He tries hard to ignore what’s happening but can never quite pull it off. Can he convince Sarah to take a chance on him? More importantly, if they let things get serious will she be willing to overlook his past or will it come back to bite him on the ass and rob him of a future more beautiful than he deserves?
2.5 Okay, first I'd say this story could have been accomplished with less pages. Sara and Tony were an interesting pair, because mainly we are given a better characterized description of Tony than Sara. There was apprehension on Sara's part, having never been in a interracial relationship not a healthy one. But Tony was eager to explore where the attraction would lead them. The ease of their relationship began as charming and sweet, but somewhere a long the line things just got messy. The book seemed more about Tony and his regretful guilt of being a porn star in his younger days, and Sara is just along for the ride. In the beginning these two had a lot of communication but then devolved into juvenile antics that was unbecoming of an adult couple. It just needed a stronger plot and better character development.
His second chance in life from some bad decision leads him to owning a pet store and falling for his new manger in this book all about redemption at its best.
Sarah and Tony connect when she starts to work in his pet story. She is innocent while Tony has made some truly questionable choices in his life and is bogged down by regrets. His background makes him feel that he is not good enough for a real relationship. In addition, he continues to employ psychotic ex....this is a good book, sweet and emotionally resonant but almost had TOO many plot lines. I enjoyed this opposites attract story.
Tony and Sarah were just made for each other. I especially got some good la s when they first met and hearing what they were thinking was hilarious. That bitch Christy hopefully got hers. I just couldn't figure out why she was still working there. She should have been fired a long time before. Anyway all ended well. Looking forward to the next in the series.
All I can do is LOL about the plot line of this story. I can literally hear my great aunts voice as the narrator as I read this story. The female character sounds like a 60-year-old woman when she's supposed to be 23.
I have found another author I'm excited about and I couldn't be happier I know exactly what I like and this author does it for me great read truly glad to recommend just enjoy!!
This was a good story, it kept me reading and rooting for Tony and Sarah to get together. I love the way they helped each other out with their insinceres. Love and talking with one another conquers all.
This was my first time reading this author and the book is enjoyable. I didn't understand some choices the characters made and I still don't but it made for great drama.
My first read by this author. I liked the characterization, mild conflicts (although one plot twist really startled me), slow burn romance, and tidy conclusion.
Delightful read from an exciting new author! Was absorbed in the story from the first page and if you like surprise plot twists, you’ll really enjoy this book! Great characters, multiple story lines, cool ending - can’t wait for the follow up!
