Charles Frazier Stanley was born September 25, 1932, in the small town of Dry Fork, Virginia. The only child of Charley and Rebecca Stanley, Charles came into the world during a time when the entire nation felt the grip of the Great Depression. To make matters worse, just nine months later, his father Charley died at the young age of 29.
However, Charles refused to let the Great Depression or the difficulties of his life define him. Instead, like his father and grandfather before him, he clung to God’s Word and took up the mantle to preach the gospel to whoever would listen.
Dr. Stanley’s motivation is best represented by the truth found in Acts 20:24, “Life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about God's mighty kindness and love.” This is because, as he says, “It is the Word of God and the work of God that changes people’s lives.”
Dr. Stanley’s teachings can be heard weekly at First Baptist Church Atlanta, daily on “In Touch with Dr. Charles Stanley” radio and television broadcasts on more than 2,800 stations around the world, on the Internet at intouch.org, through the In Touch Messenger, and in the monthly, award-winning In Touch magazine.

I liked this book some because it helped me figure some stuff out, but it wasn’t really my type of devotional because it was a little slow to read. It also could’ve been because I’ve started counting words starting before a comma and the ones ending after one. That was kind of an annoying habit. It was a good book, but didn’t really teach me a whole lot. I’m more into Christian rap and rock so maybe the next book, the Good Life by Trip Lee, will teach me some more.

I’ve never read anything by Charles Stanley in the past, but I’ve heard wonderful things about him. So, when I saw this devotional, I thought it’d be a good time to check him out, as I really enjoy devotional books. While I haven’t finished the entire book, I have read enough to know that this book will make a great addition to my daily time with Jesus. I also love the fact that this book is a year-long devotional.
Stanley’s latest is to help the reader find the one, true source of hope: Jesus. It’s a hope that will never fail, no matter what struggles we may encounter. The book is beautifully designed, with an imitation leather cover that is padded and a ribbon bookmark. The pages match the cover with their color scheme. As with other devotional books, Stanley’s contain a title, a Bible verse, the devotion, and a prayer. The entries are written in a way that is easy to understand. Each reading is one page, so they are short enough to fit easily into a busy schedule. There is also a “wrap-up” comment at the end of each page with a reminder of why the reader’s hope is in Jesus. Topics addressed include staying hopeful when change doesn’t occur quickly, staying focused on Jesus through the difficult seasons, and remembering that God will fulfill His promises to us.
Here are some of the reminders of why our hope in Jesus is never misplaced:
• My hope is in Jesus because He is awesome and deserves all my praise.
• My hope is in Jesus because He is working in the unseen.
• My hope is in Jesus because He sees my full potential and helps me reach it.

This whole last year was nuts. This devotional is good for anyone who is going through any struggle in their life it is also good for people that are starting out in their faith. It'll give you hope and so much more. I am finding my way back from a dark place because of what happened during last year. Finishing this today really helped.

Common-Sense, Down-to-Earth Wisdom
Sometimes we forget that God is in the ordinary things of life. We reach for wisdom that is beyond our understanding and grasp for insights that, for the life of us, we can't comprehend. Dr, Stanley reminds us to get back to the basics - back to what we were taught in Sunday School in years past - things such as how much God loves us and promises never to leave us; how he stays with us and holds on to us in the storms of lfe; how we can trust Him with our future even when our life has been turned upside down through tragedy or sickness or the loss of the love of our lives. I recommend this little devotional to everyone who longs to find a closer walk with God and who desperately wants to learn to lean on Him during the tough times.

Enjoy starting my morning with God
This was a good way to start everyday, because that way I felt like God was with me all the time. I remember when I was a child and my grandmother told me that I could talk to God anytime and anywhere. I didn't understand what she was talking about then. But after I grew up and had some hard time I knew what she meant and I understand and now I talk to him all the time. I have told my children that God was with them all the time just like she told me !!! God bless everyone and Amen🙏🙏🙏
