I am loving this deck, but don't let the apparently light-hearted figures fool you.

I have always wanted (not in any particular order) a miniature Tarot deck, a Tarot deck in a tin to use as a "travel deck", and to be able to read the Thoth deck.

I have some visual peculiarities, so I have never been able to use the Thoth deck without having a blinding headache rise up in me. It's a pity, as I have been reading the Tarot for *decades* and this one deck was beyond my reach. I needed new imagery, however much that may irritate purists. I just couldn't read this deck.

But the Zillich Tarot hits all my buttons, it's a Thoth-based deck, minitature, in a tin, and I can read it without temporarily losing my vision.

The images have a sense of the iconic about them, as if the figures are cold and removed. This is a deck; to my way of thinking, which will tell you harsh truths. I get the sense that you can ask the Gods your question, but be prepared for a tough answer, and make your offerings and thanks after.

Many of the female figures seem to be languishing, and leaning back. They are incontrol, without exerting themselves. And there is a real feeling of power--distant and implacable--in the Major Arcana cards.

If you are used to reading with the Waite/Coleman-Smith deck, there are some differences. In some Thoth decks (although not this one) there are three Magician/Magus cards. This card differs from the Waite tradition in the following ways:

Strength is Lust
Justice is Adjustment, but...
Judgement is now Justice
All the Minors (or Pips) are illustrated
Court cards are ordered Knight/Queen/Prince/Princess
The World card is The Universe

I really appreciate the Knights over Queens. The true power lies with the Queen, all the other cards are there to support her. The Knights protect her, they are in her service. This is the Babylon aspect of the Queen cards. And the Queen does not rule, she *reigns*. Her power is so great that she can delegate to her subjects the mundane aspects of her rulership. They are her willing followers. They are not just bound to her, they worship her majesty.

Although these cards may at a glance seem light hearted (the imagery has a lot of pastel colors and floaty watercolor strokes of paint), it actually lends itself to a great lattitude of interpretation--a quality I very much appreciate.

I'm sure that I will discover new insights as I continue to work with this deck. I recommend it to those who have difficulty with the original Thoth deck by Crowley and Harris.

I love this pocket-sized Tarot deck that comes in a tin box - a great way to protect the cards. I love the artwork in watercolour. I even bought a back up copy for myself and always have one in my purse. Well done! ❤️❤️
