Given that I am in the Navy I may find this type of material more interesting then most. Nonetheless, this still may provide some interesting insights to civilians as well.

This book neatly summarizes several interesting tidbits about many of the nautical phrases and traditions most Sailors are likely not familiar with. I also like how the book is organized and is more than just a glossary.

This is a nice book for the new enlisted or officer sailor, marine, or coastie. It covers the history of a number of US naval traditions and customs. Including a very informative and lengthy chapter on Dining In/Out. This is a useful and informative supplement to the Bluejacket's Manual.
