Whilst tidying my book case, I came upon my mother's old copy of this book and it brought back a wonderful flood of memories. I was very young when I read it and perhaps that's why it made such a lasting impression on me. This book and the poem "Dulce et decorum est" were major formative influences on my perception of war. Many years and many wars later I still do not understand.

The only thing I want to say about this is that this book enhanced my reading of this book. It explained some things from the book that I was not quite understanding. I would have still read the book primarily which I did, it just helped me understand what I just read and get more out of it.
I took the cliff notes on this book to enhance what I read about, I do not recommend it in place of the book, because the book was so good. I would use cliff notes again if I was reading a particularly challenging book so I can bread it down and see what the author was saying and make sure I am getting everything. It was a big help to me and would do it again, but just would be an aid to reading it, not taking place of reading the book.
I do not recommend student use cliff notes in school, I am an adult and using it in the enhancement of my reading pleasure.

Review of Cliffs Notes on All Quiet on the Western Front

I must admit that I read Cliff's Notes after I read the book twice and saw all three movies. However, the notes still helped with understanding the points that were not previously stressed. Knowing more about the Author helps to see why he chose the perspective. Keep in mind that any conclusions drawn in the notes are those of Sudan Van Kirk. After reading this supplement you may want to re-read the book. The notes include:

. Life and Background of the Author
. Genera; Plot summary
. Remarque's Introductory Note
. Critical Commentaries
. Remarque's Style
. Remarque as a Social Critic
. Character Analyses
. Questions for Review

"He fell in October 1918, on a day that was so quiet and still on the whole front, that the army report confined itself to the single sentence: All quiet on the Western Front."
