This is one of my all-time favorites. This was basically my child-hood right here. Without it, I don't know what other books I like.
I don't know why I like it. The simple illustrations? The message of it all and what it meant to me as a little child? The way people read it to me at a young age? I would still reading it, even for my age. I just love it. No doubts about it. Tom is too willing to fit in which causes him and others distress, but he still learns his lesson at the end and accepts himself. Not to mention, curly tails rule! :)

Kids say they liked the book but our takeaway is that Tom still is struggling with body image issues.

Cute story about being happy with what you have that the older kids and parents really enjoyed. Too long for the little ones.
