Rotten Peaches is a gripping epic filled with disturbing and unforgettable insights into the human condition. Love, lust, race and greed. How far will you go? Two women. Two men. One happy ending. It takes place in Canada, the U.S. and South Africa. Nature or nurture. South Africa, racism and old prejudices -- these are hardly old topics but what happens when biological ha ...more

A pretty face can hide an ugly and twisted mind and Lisa de Nikolits’ ROTTEN PEACHES tells the tale of just how far a person will go to achieve their personal goals, good or bad. It is also the story of greed, ambition, selfishness and pure evil, the dark side of humanity.

Ambition, betrayal, lust and love will bring two couples together, blood will entangle their lives and lead them down a path of destruction and devastation and no one in their path will be unscathed. Gritty, dark, and populated

The title (derived from the Elton John song of the same name) refers to outside beauty hiding the ugliness within. It’s an apt description for all four of the main characters: two ambitious women and the (wrong) men they fall for. Leonie, a chemist whose beauty cream promises more than it delivers, is having an affair with JayRay, a charismatic conman in pursuit of easy riches. He has his sights set on his half-sister Bernice, a self-help writer who is having an affair with political activist Di ...more

“An avant garde page-turner, written with honesty and insight that both caresses and shocks. Set around the corner and across the world, Rotten Peaches is an intimate study of human nature in all its imperfect glory. Lisa De Nikolits expertly weaves the lives of four unique characters into a story that rolls out as curiously as life itself. This novel romps with humor and stark private moments in a rhythm that builds with suspense to the climax, a sequence of chilling scenes at a South African f ...more

Rotten Peaches is a tasty thriller with plenty of bite!

From the novel's fabulous opening line: "I am not a killer. I just fell in love with the wrong man," I was hooked! Lisa de Nikolits is one of the most exciting authors in CanLit today and her latest is a sexy thrill ride jam-packed with twists, turns, suspense and plenty of intrigue. Rotten Peaches has all the perfect ingredients of classic film noir; I kept picturing Bette Davis and Joan Crawford as protagonists Leonie and Bernice. Yet this

I was fortunate to have received a copy of Lisa de Nikolits fictional novel, "Rotten Peaches" compliments of Inanna Publications monthly contest. I appreciated the opportunity and want to share that I love, love, loved this book! The characters are fantastically awful people and it is their dark and loathsome behaviors that make this book an incredible ride. Gritty and honest, filled with humor and suspense. I highly recommend to any reader who wishes for an entertaining, high paced story that w ...more

Rotten Peaches
Two women get caught up in the lies if one man as he tries to manipulate both of them wanting something different from each one. Leonor is married but seems allures by JayRay whose behavior at times is warm and others violent and abuse. Creating his back story about his past when you hear him yell it to someone else you hardly recognize the words or the twisted truths he’s fabricated. Lies and manipulations are what he excels in and exposing someone in National television his goal

Rotten Peaches by Lisa de Nikolits is rotten to the core, but in a completely fantastic way. The characters are crass, broken, disgustingly selfish, and wholeheartedly messed up. How great is that?

The story follows the two main characters, Leonie and Bernice, with their bad decisions and constant struggle to maintain their flimsy grasp on their so-called realities. They are as different as night and day, and yet they are similar in that they are both neurotic messes and hard-core survivors. The

Well I have to admit I wasn't too sure about this one at first. Being a huge fan of Lisa's and loving literally everything she writes - I thought I was going to be disappointed - I am glad I was wrong!

This is not your usual - "fall in love with because you love all the characters and can identify with them" - there is nothing fluffy about this book!
This is your - "fall in love with because you HATE all the characters and are glad that you are not like them!"
You may ask "Why would I want a book l

This is a thoroughly engrossing book, and Lisa de Nikolits' best. At first I was daunted by the thought of spending time with such a pack of obnoxious characters, but that hesitation was not to last. The characters grew in every sense and in every direction (morally speaking, both up and down). The writing is crisp, funny, sexy and also reflective. Yet I kept asking myself why I was sticking with characters as sociopathic as Leonie and JayRay, and it seemed to me that the author was luring us wi ...more

Written with brutal transparency, Rotten Peaches reveals the side of humanity so many want to remain hidden.

While taking place across three continents and told from alternating points of view, Rotten Peaches touches on themes that most shy away from - love, lust, race, and greed...nature vs. nurture.Rotten Peaches, though dark, gritty, and raw, is definitely a book I recommend to readers who are seeking fiction that will stimulate discussion.

Rotten Peaches starts off somewhat deliberately and the characters first appear quite superficial, although I think this is wholly intentional on Ms. de Nikolits' part; past history demonstrates she knows what she's doing in the character development aspect of fiction writing. About half of the way through the book, the mood turns foreboding as the plot thickens and all four characters, now fully evolved, are faced with their own potential Waterloos. The reader's initial dislike of the four 'rot ...more

Ok I read the whole book even though I wanted to stop. The mistakes in the book drove me nuts. The characters I wanted to strangle each one of them. I think the only people I liked was Leo's daughters. Her husband I liked a little bit. There is a lot of scheming, lying and cheating all through out the book. It says happy ending for this book but really? where? sorry I just did not see it.

Lisa de Nikolits is the author of eight novels:

8. Rotten Peaches, "Wow. Just wow. Lisa de Nikolits’ Rotten Peaches blew me away. A dark, compulsive, and addictive story in which the characters’ secrets and needs conflict with each other and fold back in on themselves in an ever-tightening noose, Rotten Peaches will keep readers gripped until the very last page. Highly recommended!" —Karen Dionne,
