Not only does this sturdy board book provide basic information about honeybees, but readers can use ribbons attached to two bees to allow them to fly through the book's pages. There are pictures of flowers and the bees' honeycomb, and if readers stand the book up, it forms a hive so all those busy bees are on display. This book has a very clever design that might prompt readers to become keenly interested in bees. And how could that be a bad thing? Any attention given to a species that seems threatened is a very good thing. I'd certainly have this title in my home or classroom.

This cleverly designed board book will appeal to young readers. When the book is open wide, it is shaped like a beehive, so the two little bees that are attached by ribbon can fly in and out of the hive. A wonderful lap-story to share, the listener can fly the bee around while hearing about pollination, bee dancing, building the hive, the queen bee, and making honey.

Perfect for a preschooler, for ages 2-4.
