The Women's Study Bible I have been using is over 15 years old so I decided I needed to get a new one. There were a few things I was looking for. For instance, I wanted one that was a hardback and sturdy so that it could be used a long time. I needed one that would lay open, flat so that it would be easy to read and notes from. I also wanted one that is the CSB translation because I have come to enjoy reading this translation.
The CSB Study Bible For Women is not a devotional Bible or even a journaling Bible It is a Bible for you to use when you are sitting down and studying His Word. This Bible has a lot of good sections like the one called Hard Questions. This section is very helpful for believers no matter where they are in their Christian walk.
The design of this Bible has a slightly feminine feel to it. I personally wish it had more flowers or pink/purple coloring to it but that is just my personal preference. I also wish it had places to journal thoughts or to write notes in it. You will find that this Bible has a family trees, a marriage contract (ketubah), family milestones page, reading guides, information about this translation, and charts of weights and measures and of course maps.
I am very pleased with this Bible and from what I have read in it so far. I can see that it will last me another 15 years and hopefully even more!
I have a new favorite study Bible and this is it! The CSB Study Bible for Women is packed full of helpul commentary and information. I love the introductory page for each book of the Bible. It always contains a verse that is representative of that book and answers many questions including, but not limited to, who the author was, where the book took place, and the general details concerning what the book is about.
Two of my favorite items from the intoductory page are the outline and the timeline. I also really enjoy the way the books of the Bible have clearly marked sections that line up with the outline, providing an easy way for me to keep track of how everything fits together.
The pages of this Bible are just right. There is very light ghosting sometimes between pages, but it is not overwhelming. I am very sensitive to pages that are too thin and find it very hard to read with ghosting. This Bible does not bother my eyes at all. The font is also extremely easy to read and does not strain my eyes.
I am really learning a lot as I study with this Bible. I have so far studied Colossians and 1 and 2 Thessalonians. There were some “Hard Question” sections included in each book, as well as “Word Study” sections, and other breakout sections that provided additional information. I have found the regular footnotes that are at the bottom of each page very helpful, as well.
I really can’t say enough good things about this Bible. I received the cloth over board version for review and it seems very durable.
I received a complimentary copy of this Bible. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
“Hey Bible readers! I’m Tara Lee Cobble and I’m your host for the Bible recap!” IYKYK!! Seriously though thank you to the Bible recap for helping me read the Bible in a year!
Feels reallyyyyy good to finish my Bible in a year for the first time ever! Finished strong even after having a child one month ago so mama is PROUD of this one. :) :)
Excited to slow down and read for depth in this next year but the last year of reading large passages of scripture taught me a ton!
This was such a beautiful bible to read! I loved the look and feel of it. The study notes were great. There were alot of notes throughout. I liked the character profiles of the women in the bible. There were doctrine notes sprinkled throughout too. I learned so much from those. This is a good solid bible that would benefit any woman.
Are you looking for a new bible, one that is also a great study bible and easy to use? Than this bible is the one for you. This CSB Women’s Study Bible is absolutely wonderful. What a great way to study God’s word. I love the concordance that is in it. This bible is packed with so many features.
his is an amazing Bible. I ave to say it is my Favorite Bible. Ms Patterson and her team has done an excellent job of putting this Bible together. It is theologically and doctrinal sound. I love the Holman translation, it is easy and clear to read. The print size is excellent. I have recently gone through a major brain operation, and this review copy was sitting waiting for me the day after I woke up! I am able to read and follow the text clearly.
Ms. Patterson is a wonderful woman, I have heard her speak and I truly do recommend this Bible for any age woman. The Study Bible for Women equips you to reach deep into God’s Word. Perhaps the single most powerful aspect of this Bible are the "threads" of specialized study thoughtfully woven throughout, pointing you to God’s larger story and allowing the Holy Spirit to write His revealed truths on your heart. In The Study Bible for Women, you’ll join a host of other women, all academically trained in the original languages of the Bible and passionate about God’s Word, for an intimately deep dive into Scripture that will equip you to unlock the riches and majesty of His Word, and ignite a passion to mentor others in your life to do the same. I received this book free from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review and the opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255 : “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”
We live in a country where most of us are blessed to have easy access to Bibles, and we may have many more of them than Christians living elsewhere. I love being able to look at a new Bible and see what different features it may have. I was offered the chance to review this new CSB Study Bible for Women right after my teen Big Helper asked for a study Bible, and so I jumped at the chance to check this one out - and I am very glad I did.
I thought it particularly appropo that the cover and main color of the Bible is a beautiful aqua. Not that the color affects what you can learn from the Bible, but as it's her favorite color, I appreciated that attribute more than I might otherwise. Besides, just because something is useful doesn't mean that it can't also be pretty, and this Bible definitely is.
My Big Helper was immediately excited about many of the special features in this Bible, and something else that I can't wait to share with you. She's been using it for her daily study time since it arrived, and we appreciate the sturdy hardback cover that allows her to carry it around her room and to church each Sunday.
The Christian Standard Translation is rather new to me. To find out more about how it compares to other translations, check out this YouTube video.
Now, on to the special features ...
The 'Word Study' section is found on many pages of this Bible. It takes a word from that page and breaks down the meaning - from which language it comes, what it means with connotations in that language, where else it's found in the Bible, and any stories or associations that might be made so that it can be better understood in context. Since many foreign words don't translate well directly into English, this is a great feature to help the reader understand the meaning of a particular passage as well as possible.
The salmon-colored sections are called "Biblical Womanhood." They may include word studies but explain further how a particular verse or passage relate to women. The information shared may include cultural or historical information, how the scripture is used by different cultures or people groups, or information about the original writing.
The yellow box above is for Doctrine, and these are found throughout the Bible. They often pull out a particular theme and share more information about it and reference other scripture.
There are many other charts, graphs, and pictures scattered throughout the Bible. One that My Big Helper is particularly appreciating right now is a sketch of the original Temple. She's been trying to draw it to scale for her architecture class, and she's finding that very helpful.
The first page of each book of the Bible are full of great information. There are special sections for the five Ws - who (by and for), what, where, why, and when - as well as an outline of the book. There's also a timeline at the bottom of the page to help you put its origin into it's proper place in history and to understand what else was happening at that time.
I have never been an expert in Middle Eastern geography, and the borders of each country have changed numerous times over the millennia. Add to that that each people group, city, and country have also changed names over the years, and it can get really confusing! I really appreciate great maps in Bibles for that reason, and the CSB Women's Study Bible has really colorful ones. Several maps are included, for major journeys taken, land given to each Israeli tribe, etc. Topographical information is included as well as basic Biblical information, and information is clearly marked.
My Big Helper was very impressed with the index at the back of the Bible. She reads in many ways and is trying to determine her favorite way to structure her study time, but one of her favorite things to do at the moment is to choose a word or theme and then read everything that the Bible says about it. A good index makes that much easier, and she's enjoying this one. All of these things make the CSB Study Bible for Women a great choice. The pages are a great balance of scripture and additional helpful information, the colorful boxes make the pages visually appealing and easy to find each type of feature, and there's white space available for notes. That's not all, though ... My Big Helper was so impressed with this Bible and all of it's features that she was reading all of the special pages at the front and the back - you know, the ones that tell you about how the book was written, published, etc. I've never actually taken the time to do more than glance at them and see that it takes a lot of people, work, and time to complete a translation; enough for me to think, "Good. That means that smart people are working together so that we, the readers, aren't getting a single person's potentially skewed perspective." As it turns out, however, we can personally attest to the amazingly wise and well-educated people who made this translation, and I am so very excited about this! It makes me even happier that this wonderful Bible made it's way into My Big Helper's hands. My Big Helper discovered a friend's name in one of those pages - in several places. It turns out that my friend, someone I've known for about eleven years now, has written the commentary for many of the books in this Bible! She's the child of missionaries, grew up in the Holy Land, and graduated from seminary. She's a pastor's wife, mother, and, while she's an American, she has the unique cultural perspective of having lived in the Middle Eastern culture and understands it in way that most of us never could. She speaks Hebrew and 'smart' doesn't begin to cover it - she is wise beyond her years in ways that cannot be attained through basic education.
Knowing that she shared that wisdom in the pages of this Bible through the commentary is exciting to me. This Bible is more special to us, and the commentary even more rich and trustworthy, because we know the perspective from which it came.
All of that makes the CSB Study Bible for Women the perfect woman's Bible!
And, I must say, isn't it amazing the way that He works - to send us the perfect Bible for my woman-t0-be, just as soon as she asked for one?

I received a free copy of this Bible from FrontGate Media. All opinions are my own.
I have to say first off, that while there may be many things in this version that may be useful, l personally find the alterations to some of the translated words to be too disturbing to me for this book to remain in my own library. John 3:16 , in this version reads -For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. Maybe some will think, well so what is wrong with that? What is wrong is that there was no reason whatsoever to paraphrase what was already written. It makes me question how much in this book is scripture, and how much is the paraphrasing of translators. If difficult passages were made more understandable, or an uncommon word was changed to one that would clarify, l see the value. But to me changes for no discernible reason makes me question the motives of the translators. At the very least it tells me that they do not view the Bible as a Holy Book. If they did they would be very reluctant to make changes without a very good reason.
Today I have the honor of reviewing the CSB Women's Study Bible on the blog. Can I just get real with you? I'm just over the moon on cloud nine to be able to bring you this review. Bibles have to be one of my favorite things. I don't like to admit it but I'm pretty addicted to new Bibles. I always love stalking the Bible section at Lifeway everytime I go in so when I was given this opportunity I jumped at the chance.
Please note that this is not sponsored in any way. This review is my honest opinion. I would never recommend or review anything that I didn't personally read or try out. I received this Bible free from the publisher in exchange for my honest review of it. This Bible comes in three different cover options. It comes in hardcover, softcover teal with flowers, and a soft cover brown version. The Bible itself is a CSB translation which stands for Christian Standard Bible.
I have been using this translation for about a year now and absolutely love it. Growing up I used NKJV as well as NLT. I find that for me the CSB is easy to understand while keeping close to the original translation.
The layout of the Bible is beautiful! There are so many different features throughout to help you navigate through and study God's Word. My only complaint is that I wish the page that explained the different sections was at the front of the Bible instead of at the back even though it tells you in the table of contents that it was.
When you open the Bible you have the title page of who the Bible is presented too. Next, there is a page for the wife and husband's family tree, marriage contract (The Ketubah), family milestone page, as well as a page for spiritual mothers. I think the spiritual mother's page is my favorite.
After the table of contents, you have an introduction to the study Bible for women and how to study the Bible written by Dorthy Kelly Patterson. The Christian Life article written by Rhonda Harrington Kelly is next. Then there is a section that talks about the CSB Bible itself followed by charts of transliteration, table of weights and measures, and abbreviations used in this Bible.
Each book of the Bible starts out with an introduction. Included is a key verse, timeline, content outline and answers what the book is about, good reasons for women to read it as well as provide guidance for studying it effectively. Throughout the whole Bible, there are study notes that will highlight important truths and insights. I also love that they include different sections like biblical womanhood, hard questions, word study, doctrine, and character profiles.
Each book of the Bible closes out with a section called written on my heart. It is basically a devotional, word of application, celebration, or encouragement that you can remember truths from that book and allow the Holy Spirit to write them on your heart.
Last but not least there is the index of features listed out with page numbers. It tells you what is in each section of biblical womanhood, charts, doctrine, hard questions and maps and reconstructions.
Of course, there are acknowledgments, citations, contributors, the concordance featuring all the women of the Bible and maps.
As I have reviewed this Bible I would highly recommend it to my friends.
It would make a great gift for any woman who wants to dig deeper in the Word while navigating through this crazy thing we call life. It could be very useful or helpful for those in ministry, writers, bloggers, or who have a heart to mentor others. Whether you are a long time Bible reader or just beginning I would say this would be a perfect Bible to add to your collection.
People, this Bible is just plain pretty! The dust jacket doesn't quite cover the whole Bible (and really it's not supposed to), so I quickly took that off and the turquoise and light sand cover of the hard back is still pretty!
I have a problem. You might need to stage an intervention on my behalf. I have an addiction. It's not to anything really bad, in fact, quite the opposite. It's a good addiction.
Believe it or not, this time I'm not talking about my addiction to coffee, or my insatiable need to collect coffee mugs. In fact, it's so much not any one of those that it doesn't even have anything do with coffee.
Well maybe it doesn't. Usually when I'm using this addiction of mine, I'm drinking coffee. You know, I've never once stopped to ponder if I could not drink coffee while performing this ritualistic task.
Only it's not a task. It is a love. A deep love.
What I'm talking about here is the Bible, God's Word, the Word of God, Holy Scriptures, whatever name you want to give it. I love it. I love spending time reading it, mining it's depths for buried treasure.
I know there are some of you who will want to shoot me for this next statement, but I also love the various translations of the Word. I love to pour over the differences, compare their similarities.
When I was presented with the opportunity to review The Study Bible For Women published by LifeWay, I immediately clicked YES!
People, this Bible is just plain pretty! The dust jacket doesn't quite cover the whole Bible (and really it's not supposed to), so I quickly took that off and the turquoise and light sand cover of the hard back is still pretty!
Do you want to know what really gets me excited about this? There are two ribbon bookmarks! Two! Not one but two! No more need to search to find a book mark anymore. I don't know about you, but I'm always looking for one, and I can never seem to find one. (In case you're wondering, using abc gum doesn't work well at all. Trust me.)
Inside this beautiful Bible you will find a few very nice features. It's fairly typical now to have an introduction to each book, with an outline and this one is no exception. A notable difference though with this Bible is the timeline that is included, so you can see just when each book took place and what else was happening at or around the same time.
There are plenty of small word studies on the pages. (Not every page but close!) These are particularly valuable if you want to learn more about a certain word on that page.
At the end of each book there are little devotional-type words of encouragement, "Written On My heart". These are designed to allow the Holy Spirit to write the message of the book on your own heart. I would encourage you to read these and then ask the Holy Spirit to write His message to you on your own heart.
Okay, here is where my review might get a little tricky. There are scattered through the Bible little pinky-red boxes, "Biblical Womanhood". These are, or at least can be, a very good resource as you personally study the truths of Biblical Womanhood for yourself. I do not fully agree with all of these, and honestly I haven't read all of them either.
This study Bible is for women, about women, and celebrates women. If you're in the market for a new Bible, you will want to check this one out. There are other features I didn't mention.
To satisfy the Federal Government I received a free copy of this Bible from LifeWay Publishers for the purpose of review. I am a member of their B&H Blogger group. I did not have to give a favorable review and all opinions stated in this review are my own.
The CSB Study Bible for Women delivers a lot of what I want and not a lot of what I don’t want in a study Bible. While this is a study Bible, it is a study Bible for women. In fact, in the introduction it states “The Study Bible for Women, together with the Old and New Testament volumes of the Women’s Evangelical Commentary, completes a trilogy of unique tools for unlocking the riches of the Holy Scriptures. These three volumes, without apology, are prepared primarily for women to use in personal study and preparation for teaching.” In other words, this is not your One Minute Devotional Bible. This is what sets it apart from some of the women’s Bibles I’ve looked at, and why I made room for it on my shelf.
After the introduction, the first feature is an article on how to study the Bible. It is just a few pages, yet it is a lot of information, and while it had helpful guidelines, cumbersome is the word that came to my mind, so persevere if you find it a little heavy. Another article follows, on the Christian life, then the standard explanation of the Bible text.
In the back of the Bible, (which I think is a little weird, shouldn’t it be in the front?) is a guide to all the features you will find throughout this Bible. Each book has an introduction featuring the usual who wrote it/who it was to/when was it written type of information. They include a brief timeline of events which I always love because I am chronologically challenged, and a special note on why women should read that particular book. I will say that this last feature is often pretty applicable to both genders but it is sometimes helpful.
Sidebar articles called “Threads” are found throughout each book, such as “Hard Questions” which is a brief answer those questions that come up like “does the Bible condone slavery?” or “Does Paul hate women?”(short answer, no.) My favorite? Word studies, which I particularly like since it is the CSB translation. There are lots of character profiles of women in the scriptures, a thread on key doctrines and articles on biblical womanhood. Also in back is a good index to help you look up any of threads by topic, as well as a concordance.
Nerd alert: I really liked that they included full color maps in the body of the text like Paul’s voyage to Rome right on the next page when I’m reading about Paul’s voyage to Rome. There are maps in the back, too, and there are lots of helpful charts throughout as well. One down side for me-no cross references, not a deal breaker but a bummer.
They are pretty generous with the study notes on the bottom of each page, and all of this together make for a hefty resource, which includes two ribbon markers. I found the notes helpful and not as woman-centric as I feared they might be. The scriptures application to women is important, but not primary, and they do a good job blending the general explanations with the women’s application.
There are enough unique resources in the CSB Study Bible for Women to make it worth adding to your shelf. Thank you Holman Bible Publishers for providing this Bible to threeladiesoflit.com for review.
This is a great Bible! If you like using the CSB version, you will enjoy reading this one. The two head women who produced this Bible; Dorothy Kelley Patterson and Rhonda Harrington are reputable and produce some of the best women's Bibles out there.
This a voluminous Bible with full-color pages. The cover is made with cloth, duo-toned; light sandy with mint green and very sturdy. It contains two beautiful ribbons, perfect to hold your place both in the NT and the OT.
The first pages contain a dedication page, family tree, the Ketubah, family milestones, and spiritual mothers. Each book contains an introduction at the beginning, outline, and a timeline. There aren't that many general study notes as would be expected from a study Bible but it does contain loads of study notes that I have found extremely useful.
There are some word study notes on the bottom of some pages which I appreciate. The boxes on the sides that explain important Christian doctrines are very helpful in understanding the passages. The contributors to this Bible did not hold back from making this a jam-packed Women's Bible-it contains lots of character profiles based on the women mentioned in Scripture and the 'Biblical Womanhood' boxes have so much information. Colorful maps are sprinkled all throughout the pages and there are "Hard Question" boxes that I enjoy reading. In addition to all this, there are many charts located all throughout.
I love that it gives many notes on the Biblical languages and even has transliteration charts. It has a good lengthed concordance on the back and 8 full-color maps. The way everything is presented is well organized and clean. The Bible has a very feminine appeal that will catch the ladies' eyes. In fact, the entire tome is very visually appealing.
My only two complaints...
1. The Font.
While the font on the passages itself is fine ( I believe it is a 9.25) the font on the notes are too small even for someone with 20/20 vision. And the font type further contributes to the tiny print. I understand that the font had to be smaller or else the Bible would have been even more voluminous, but a different font type could have made a difference. I have 20/20 vision but I have to bring the Bible closer to my face in order to read the notes in some places. You can use a magnifier but if you have vision problems this is something to consider.
My second complaint is that Jesus' words are not in red. This is more of a personal preference but I like to have Jesus' words in red since it's very useful to me in doing studies. This is another thing to consider if you share my preference.
All in all, I can see myself using this Bible for many years to come and know that the pages and the sturdy built will last for years.
I received a complimentary copy of this Bible from B&H/ LifeWay in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
This is an amazing Bible. I have to say it is my Favorite Bible. Ms. Patterson and her team have done an excellent job of putting this Bible together. It is theologically and doctrinal sound. I love the Christian Standard translation, it is easy and clear to read. The print size is excellent. The text is easy to read and clear translation.
The hardcover is very lovely and feminine. It has full-color maps and splashes of color throughout the Bible. This would make a lovely gift, or just for your own resource.
My Thoughts: This is the third Christian Standard Bible I’ve reviewed. My go to Bible, and the first Bible from this series I reviewed is the, She Reads Truth, Christian Standard Bible. The second Bible I reviewed is the, Study Bible, Christian Standard Bible. Both of these Bibles I purchased. A new Bible from this translation series is The Rainbow Study Bible. This Bible was published May 1. Now, for my thoughts. I’ll start with the less of significant reasons as to why I love this Bible. 1. Aqua is one of my favorite colors. I was not pleased with the color selection of the She Reads Truth, CSB. The choices are white, gray and poppy red. Later, a navy colored leather touch was added. Aqua is easy on the eyes, simple, casual, and a tranquil color. 2. The first several pages are the presentation page, “The Ketubah”, family memories and tree, and spiritual Mother’s page. The significant reasons why I love this Bible. 1. I love the translation. I believe most people do not read the information about the textual base used for the translation. They see the cover, like the way it reads and they buy the Bible. Possibly certain features of the Bible are a draw like the concordance. I love the readable CSB translation. 2. I love the footnotes at the bottom of the pages. These show the differences in the manuscripts and other OT versions. 3. I love the word studies that are included. The first word study, located on the first page of “Genesis” is “God.” 4. “Doctrine” studies. Early studies in the “Gospel of John” are “Faith, Christology, Incarnation.” 5. “Hard Question.” These are located sporadically throughout the Bible books. In the book of “1 Timothy” the “Hard Question: Is it really possible to be content?” 6. I love the bold easy to read print. I wear bifocals, but the bold print in books help! Additional points to know: This not a journaling Bible. The pages are thin. They have a matte finish so they are easy to turn. Only half an inch is on the margins. I received a complimentary hardcover copy. I was not required to write a positive review.
I've now read through the Study Bible for women twice, and it has truly transformed my approach to Bible study. This edition is not your typical woman devotional Bible that is supposed to make you feel good. It is a true study Bible that explains important doctrines and theology.
Nevertheless, it still has a beautiful design and layout. Each page is inviting and easy to navigate, with clear and concise annotations that enhance understanding without overwhelming the reader. The comprehensive introductions to each book provide essential context, while the insightful commentary offers depth and clarity to even the most complex passages.
Additionally, the practical applications and reflective questions encourage introspection and spiritual growth. My personal favorite are the word studies. They provide a much deeper understanding of the original languages and helps you make connections that would otherwise be lost on us. I also learned through these word studies that the Scriptures actually contain a lot of puns and jokes! ;)
The study notes also provide important historical insights. They seem well researched and add an additional layer of understanding that enriched my faith journey.
Whether you are new to Bible study or have been reading the Bible for years, this edition will undoubtedly enhance your spiritual life and draw you closer to God.
I highly recommend *The Study Bible for Women* to every woman seeking a deeper, more meaningful connection with Scripture. It is a treasure trove of wisdom and insight that will inspire and empower you on your faith journey.
The commentary is mainline southern Baptist, strongly complimentarian, not reformed.
The pages are surprisingly thick, I use mildliner and bic pens and they don't bleed through.
The only thing that I felt was lacking is that there weren't enough maps throughout. I'm a visual learner and prefer the approach of the ESV study Bible in that regard where pretty much whenever a location is mentioned they provide a map.
To begin this review: As I pressed the “read” button here on Goodreads, that seemed strange. There’s no way that I’ve read every note and feature in this Bible! I’m reserving the right to come back to this review and address any theological problem I might encounter in the notes as I use this study Bible. So that being said:
In this review I am addressing only the features of this Bible, not the translation itself.
The CSB Study Bible for Women is a true study Bible, not a “devotional Bible”. It’s packed with study helps, including these that I found to be detailed: Character profiles; charts; explanation of different doctrines; maps and reconstructions; notes on individual verses all throughout the Biblical text.
There’s a section called “Hard Questions” that I think is particularly helpful for believers in any stage of their Christian growth. Although I obviously have not read every individual note or chart, the study helps seem to be written from a conservative, evangelical point of view.
The hardcover edition is attractive and sturdy. The size/weight works well for carrying it to church. When opened it lays completely flat, which makes it easy to read. The font is a clear, nice size. (I can read it easily with my reading glasses, but I do think they will need a large print edition.)
Please note: It is NOT a Bible you would want to use for Bible journaling. The amount of extra information included takes up the margin space. I use colored pencils to underline verses in my Bibles, and those seem to work fine on these pages.
I am looking forward to using this Bible in my daily study.
I received a copy of this Bible from the publisher for review. I was not required to give a positive review. This is my honest opinion about this Bible.
The leadership with the Christian Standard Bible (CSB) have spent this past year putting out one specialty Bible after another with great success. They have done it again with The Study Bible for Women. Dorothy Kelley Patterson, wife of former Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary president Paige Patterson, was the General Editor on this work. The Managing Editor is Rhonda Harrington Kelley has influenced many women through her role as adjunct professor of Women’s Ministries at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. They both worked with scholarly women from all over to produce a work for women that was put together by women. The Bible features your standard but helpful introductions and study notes that you would find in a study Bible. This study Bible begins with a great article written by Patterson on how to study the Bible with tips on beginning. The Bible all throughout has articles on Biblical womanhood, character profiles of different women in the Bible, answers to difficult questions, and doctrinal studies. In the Bible you find timelines, charts, maps, and reconstructions. Each book ends with either a devotional word of application, celebration, or encouragement. Of course CSB in my opinion is a well thought out translation that is easy to read and understanding. I love the font and text size in their Bibles. In my humble opinion this Bible would be a great tool in the hands of a woman that desires to study the Bible and I do recommend it to you. I received a copy of this Bible in return for an honest review by the publisher.
So what makes The CSB Study Bible For Women so unique from all the others? Well first, it’s supposed to be for women created by women. And on that note, it claims to be the most in-depth study Bible for women out there. I think that actually might be a fair claim.
Overall, this is a really well executed Bible with thoughtful sections that can enrich both your Bible study and the faith that you live out. I love that they’re really emphasizing the culture of women and highlighting key features in The CSB Study Bible For Women on this so we get some in-depth insights on women throughout the Bible and how relevant the Bible should be to women today.
Now I will say that there was at least one chart in The CSB Study Bible For Women where I felt the editors’ bias from their niched beliefs in doctrine leaked through a little too much. For instance, they didn’t really represent the different eschatological perspectives (study of end times) fairly. So beware that you may have to double check some of their facts through more unbiased sites that list views more impartially.
I personally prefer a Bible’s commentary sections to list what different scholars in various camps believe and why which gives a wider audience and makes it feel less like you’re in a denominational bubble world.
Overall, The CSB Study Bible For Women is a fantastic Bible that I believe will enrich your quiet time. To get a visual tour of the Bible, you can go here: http://bit.ly/CSBStudyBibleForWomen
Is it time to replace a worn Bible, or are you looking to add to your collection? I’m loyal to my current collection, but this new women’s study Bible from B&H Publishers is becoming a fast favorite.
This Bible is pretty, which puts me in a pleasant mood right away. I like the feel of the pages–not too thin, not too thick. The CSB translation is new to me, and I’m enjoying it; it’s like a cross between NKJV and NLT, two of my favorite translations. The study notes are tailored to a woman’s perspective, which I appreciate.
I’ve started using this Bible as a supplement to my morning study in the One Year Bible, which has no notes or commentary. It’s helping me gain clarity into passages that are difficult to understand.
Unique features: Place to record your family tree, plus women who have served as spiritual mothers to you Beautiful intros to each chapter, with historical notes, commentary, and outline Additional mini-sections for each woman mentioned in Scripture “Biblical Womanhood” thought boxes for reflection “Word Study” sections of biblical concepts “Hard Question” answers from an evangelical perspective “Doctrine” boxes for in-depth study “Written on my Heart” sections at the end of each book for personal application Helpful charts, maps, illustrations, and timelines Concordance of All the Women in the Bible
Thanks goes to B&H and Lifeway for a free preview copy of this wonderful Bible.
For the past few weeks, I’ve been reading The CSB Study Bible For Women every chance I get. Not just the Scriptures, but the actual study aids themselves!
The CSB Study Bible For Women is a beautiful, freshly designed Bible that contains the highly readable and reliable text of the Christian Standard Bible (CSB) translation, along with extensive featured content on every page that you’ll soon wonder how you ever lived without.
During this time, I've become a huge fan of The CSB Study Bible For Women. The beauty of the layout and the clarity and content of the materials draw me into the Scriptures, help me to discover things I did not know, and make me want to read the Word into the wee hours of the night!
If you are looking for a good study Bible highly recommend this Bible to you!

The CSB Study Bible for Women is a treasure trove of information! The Bible is bound in a beautiful light turquoise cover and a sand color along the spine binding. It is a hardbound book, together with turquoise and sand colored bookmarks, which makes it easier to mark the Old and New Testament individually.
I appreciated and savored this Bible from the first page. The beginning pages have family trees for both sides of your family, The Ketubah-a Jewish marriage contract, a page for family milestones and a place to list your spiritual mothers. As you continue in the Bible, there is a section on how to study this version.
I was impressed by the layout and thoroughness. Each chapter includes a section with a timeline, outline of the chapter, word study, hard question, doctrine and Biblical Womanhood. There are also Character Profiles and footnotes titled Written on my Heart-a short synopses of how the chapter impacts you personally. I really can’t say enough about this study Bible. The colors and illustrations are visually appealing, the word study is fascinating, and all the tidbits enhance your study experience exponentially!
If you are looking for a Bible that explains the original text, leads you on a journey of discovery and enhances your study time, you can’t go wrong with The CSB Study Bible for Women.
I received this Bible from Holman Bible Publishers through FrontGate Media. However, I was under no obligation to write a review.
`The Study Bible for Women` has articles that help a woman understand Biblical womanhood. There are lots of tools for the woman of the Word. There are over 500 word studies, footnotes, 25 color-full maps, answers to the hard questions (ex. Is it ever right to take revenge?), timelines, and more. I like that there are two attached ribbons to easily flip from one piece of scripture to another without losing your place.
This durable Bible would make a great gift for a young bride because there is a place to write the family tree for the wife and the husband, The Ketubah marriage contract with a place for the bride to record her own Ketubah contract, a place to write family milestones with date/location and description, plus a place to write names of her spiritual mothers, along with their spiritual gifts, and scripture passage.
I think one of the best features is the character profiles, listed in alphabetical order. Ex. Abigail: An Intelligent Beauty, Anna: A Prophetess; and a whole list of others. I read Song of Songs as my introduction to this Bible. I found it easy to read and I like that it tells you who is speaking whether man or woman.

This is a beautiful, colorful Bible with several extras that make it standout among the study Bible options {of which I own many}. I have the hardback version in a lovely mint / cream cover.
Here are the features that are similar to other study Bibles: -introductions for each book of the Bible -footnotes with commentary to help make sense of the verses -character profiles -maps -concordance -timelines
Here are the features that make it unique: -discussions of Biblical womanhood topics -hard questions asked and answered throughout -the character profiles cover only the women in the Bible -word studies -doctrine pointed out throughout the Bible -charts on various topics -a devotional word of application, celebration or encouragement at the end of each book -not 1 but 2 ribbons for place-keeping
Here are some features that some Bibles have and others do not: -decent sized font -thicker than typical Bible pages -a nice color scheme to make the various features stand out as you flip through it
I highly recommend this Bible for any woman looking to dig deeper and grow closer to the Lord!
A beautiful package, The CSB Study Bible for Women is gorgeous with a pretty light sand/tourquoise cloth hardcover and every page is colored. Yes, every page, even the maps! Aesthetically pleasing, it really tugs at this girl's creative side.
I think the highlight of The CSB Study Bible for Women is the many extra features you'll find to make the "studying part" easier, more comprehensive, as well as thought-provoking. It's well organized and though I'm not familiar with this translation in comparison, it was easy to understand and did not hinder the devotional time. Personally, I particularly like the "Word Study" throughout that cover a variety of words more in depth - very similar to a concordance, as well.
In all, The CSB Study Bible for Women makes a great Study Bible. It's a little hefty in weight, but as a study Bible, it makes sense and works.
Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher. I was not required to write a positive review, and have not been compensated for this. This is my honest opinion.
First of all, I have to say that this Bible is so pretty! It definitely was designed in a way that would appeal to women. The coloring is gorgeous and is very visually delightful. I was raised that KJV was the only acceptable version of the Bible, but as I've gotten older and been able to discern and decide for myself about using different versions...CSB is one of my new favorites. There are so many features within this Bible such as commentary notes, word studies (one of my faves), character profiles, "Written on my Heart" applications, maps, charts, timelines, etc...One complaint I have is I wish there were a little bigger margin space to be able to write notes (spoiled by journaling Bibles I guess). Other than that, I think this Bible is well done and I think it would make a great gift to give special women in your life.
**This book was sent to me free of charge from the publisher for my honest review. All opinions are my own.**
This was actually a 3 year project in the reading. I was gifted this Bible and thought it would be fun to read chapter by chapter, including every bit of commentary as I went. Reading through the Bible usually takes me 1-1.5 years to read, but the extra material (and seasons of busyness) did add quite a bit of reading. Still I don’t regret it. I’ve read bits of commentaries before, but this did truly add so much knowledge to the historical context of books I hadn’t known very well; gave great breakdowns of the historical languages and meanings and culture; and I loved the emphasis on the characters and topics that specifically deal with women. I’ll be keeping this as a valuable reference for my future study.
Another women's study Bible that I enjoy. It has different tidbits of info than my other one, which is why I can't give up either! You can read tidbits of what life was like during those times and the customs, along with thought provoking personal questions that you've probably had but haven't voiced. I really enjoy study Bibles for that reason.
The explanations were in super tiny print. I felt like many of the definitions that were given were unnecessary. I would have like more in depth explanations about some things and maybe some background in dealing with Jewish beliefs. Overall I think it's a good book and helpful in Bible study.
