A MATTER OF JUSTICE

A Grey Justice Novel

Their past is complicated, their future is deadly.

She came from nothing and was no one until an evil man formed her into the perfect weapon, a beautiful creature of destruction. Capturing her prey held few challenges, until her target and her heart collided, and then the world came down around her. Irelyn Raine has worked hard to bury her past, but escape isn’t always possible, especially when the one man she trusts above all others throws her back into the hell she swore she’d never revisit. Now Irelyn has no choice but to face down her demons.

Grey Justice lives by a standard few would approve or understand. Gaining justice for victims can be a messy business, and the outcome isn’t always pretty. One woman knows all his secrets—the one woman who could break him. Irelyn Raine is his weakness and his strength, his shame and his redemption.

Someone else knows all their secrets, all their sins, and he’ll use everything within his power to destroy what they’ve built together.

Surviving alone isn’t possible, but can they find their way back to each other in time? Or will one of them be left behind? This time, forever?

No one escapes justice.

Finally, the long wait is over. Readers have been teased and tempted and begging for more since the moment Grey Justice and Irelyn Raine made their first appearance in Nothing to Lose. And now it’s time for them to finish their much-anticipated story. Mystery and secrets have always surrounded these two. The Prologue immediately pulled me into another 5-star whirlwind of intriguing adventure, romance and suspense that I’ve come to expect from Christy Reece.

From the wide open spaces of Texas and the cosmopolitan-air of Dallas, to the endless brilliant green hills, dramatic cliffs and charming villages of Ireland, with danger around every corner and excitement filling every page, chills ran up and down my spine. Once again readers are plunged headfirst into a fast-paced, nail-biting suspense-filled marvel combining courage, forgiveness and redemption, along with true love. Don’t think you’ll escape the clutches of another of Reece’s trademark cruel, self-centered and powerful murdering villains either. Don’t fret — Justice always prevails (with a little help from his friends) — but at what cost?

Throughout the course of Grey and Irelyn’s history together, their relationship has seldom been smooth. It has always seemed to be in a never-ending state of fluctuation. Here, they continue the dance until fate steps in and presents them with a make-it-or-break-it situation. While being hit from all sides with long-held secrets and potentially lethal danger, they grab hold of each other. Neither can imagine living through the loss of the other. A race against time and two lives hanging in the balance keeps the pages flipping until the climatic confrontation. A powerfully written plot that swept me off my feet and kept me hooked on every word.

At the same time, the tension-filled and chemistry-charged intimacy between this somewhat unlikely and yet equally explosive pair is sure to keep your lust for romance sated. A vigorous battle of wills between our two protagonists only adds to the sexuality, tension and heartbreak. Reece excels at writing characters that fight fiercely and love deeply. She’s an expert at mixing both suspense and romance to create a page-turning hit. Passion and peril is one heady mix. And the payoff packs a satisfying punch.

There is something about Christy Reece’s books that I’ve always found addictive. Truthfully, I think it’s a combo of the originality found within each plot, along with the character diversity among the alpha males and strong females and, of course, the amazing relationships that are developed. But the highlight of each and every story is the captivating, emotional and heartbreaking stories that are so suspenseful that you’ll always find yourself sitting on the edge-of-your-seat wondering what will happen next — and if everyone will get out alive to find happily-ever-afters.

Although I’m pretty much a stickler for reading a series in order of its release, this author provides more than enough background for this story to stand alone. It’s not essential that you read the previous books to enjoy Grey and Irelyn’s story – but I can’t imagine that after reading this one you won’t be pulled into reading each one of the Grey Justice Novels. The entire series of books has been such a great ride and, with each book, this author just gets better. Well-worth your time and I highly recommend it.

Christy’s writing is, as usual, superb in a skillful and addictive plot of friendship, betrayal and ultimately love. The good, the bad, and the ugly woven into a tale that leaves the reader breathless. A Matter of Justice will keep you hooked until its dramatic end. There are many jaw-dropping moments that include shocking surprises I never expected. If you’re looking for romance tightly wrapped in a high stakes game of revenge and suspense, you’ve found your book. Firmly deserves to be labeled a page-turner. A terrific read!

I have been waiting...oh how I’ve been waiting for this book...this story...their story.

Let me start off with the fact that every series this author writes is fabulous but man do I LOVE Grey. He is epic. I mean who doesn’t want the mysterious.

I have yearned for Grey & Irelyn’s story. And I was not disappointed. Grey has to be the most patient man in the history of romantic suspense :) and she most definitely tried his patience. But with her history, I don’t think she could ever really forgive herself. She was so very damaged. I think my favorite part of the book is when she realizes she is worthy, she is strong and she finally sees what Grey has seen all along. I can’t say more without spoiling and I don’t do spoilers. But this book stressed me out...lol!

I needed them to get there HEA...they sooooo deserved it. It was such an action packed book with all of our faves making an appearance. I’m so looking forward to more from this author. She is a favorite of mine with such a distinctly fabulous voice in this genre.

This is romantic suspense at its best!

Where do I begin? The Grey Justice series has been an experience. From the very beginning, I have followed this enigmatic man and his growing group of trusted employees and friends. Every time I thought I had a piece of his puzzle figured out, another one would prove me wrong. I enjoyed learning bits and pieces over the first three books but I was absolutely ready for Grey and Irelyn’s story. And what a story!

Christy Reece is phenomenal at creating characters that we identify with. She doesn’t try to conceal imperfections or cover up flaws with heroic deeds. She always gives us the good and the bad, the strengths and the weaknesses of everyone, even when it may skew our perceptions of them for a while. Irelyn was a mystery. We met her in the shadows, saw glimpses of her strength but didn’t really know how or why she was who she was. This is her story and it is not a disappointment. She is the ultimate survivor and I have never been more enthralled with finding the hidden facets of someone.

Grey Justice is exactly who he claims to be. His past has shaped his present and his future is not a given. He is the hero, although most of the time the silent hero, for people who most need one. And Irelyn has been there through it all. But that doesn’t mean she always will be.

Before Grey and Irelyn move forward, they have to settle the past. But when darkness and evil are so overwhelming, how do they find enough light to keep moving forward?

This book, along with the three previous ones in the series ( Nothing to Lose, Whatever It Takes and Too Far Gone), are so much more than romantic suspense. This is the story of a man and a woman and a lifetime. It is the story of how life isn’t black and white, dark and light, yes and no. Life is all about the Grey. Everyone deserves justice. And sometimes, things may seem all wrong but on the other side of the mist, all is right with the world. You just have to get through the mist.

This book is part of the Grey Justice series, it is a good series and I would recommend it to readers, but this book could be read as a stand alone. This is Grey and Irelyn’s story.

Grey and Irelyn have a long and complicated history. They are imperfect people that have issues you can relate to. I like how their weaknesses are shown, but not sugar coated. It makes you feel more connected to the character. Grey and Irelyn have issues from the past that they have to resolve before they can move on to a future.

This book is in the romantic suspense category but I would put it more in the suspense category. The book grabbed me from the first page and couldn’t put it down. Irelyn’s history is heartbreaking. There is suspense, mystery, romance and a few twists that will keep you turning the pages. Thank you to the author for an advanced readers copy of this book for a fair and honest review.

Was waiting for this story and am so glad I finally got to read it! Everything about Irelyn and Grey has been explained and they got what I had hoped for them! These characters have become so endearing to me and they do such good work.
If you haven't read the series, that is ok, this can be read alone, but I truly hope you will read them all. As always Christy made this book hard to put down and well worth the wait!

“Irelyn”!

Grey. A lump clogged her throat, and her eyes blurred. He was alive. And from the sound of his voice, he was also royally pissed.

“Yes?”

“You okay?”

“Yes. You?”

Instead of telling her he was okay, he shouted, “I have a question for you.”

“What’s that?”

“Marry me?”

Hidden in an alcove beside a bookshelf in the living room, Grey held his breath as he waited for the answer to the most important question he’d ever asked in his life. Proposing in the midst of a gun battle was not the most romantic way to go about such things, but for them, for who they were, this worked perfectly.

Grey Justice and Irelyn Raine, as untraditional as they are, these two have seen and worked a world that one cannot imagine even in their wildest dreams. A man fated to mete out justice to “Too Far Gone” humans who when not governed by law and justice, tend to become the monsters of all monsters. A woman fostered by a monster to become a human killing machine with “Nothing To Lose.” Two unconventional individuals destined to save each other, to protect their legacy and serve the innocent, with “Whatever It Takes”.

“A Matter Of Justice” is a brilliant revelation of Grey and Irelyn. Two characters so complex and entwined, unraveling their lives is a plethora of darkness and fear, death and loss, hope and trust, family and dreams. The first chapter is a remarkable penmanship of secrets and intimacy, innuendos and suggestions, an array of ‘The What Ifs’, ‘The Why Not’s and ‘The Could Have Been’…

The highlight of their story is not about burying the evil, but is about them baring their souls to each other. As much as it was an adrenaline thriller, their emotional ride of revelation, the trust they had in each other and the progression of their relationship was the pinnacle of the story. And the credit for creating these two illustrious characters goes to Christy Reece.
And evil should deserve credit. They say revenge is an act of passion, vengeance of justice. Injuries are revenged. Crimes are avenged. Without the likes of Sebastian Dark and their twisted minds, we wouldn’t know of the courage, perseverance and determination of justice!

“A Matter Of Justice” should be read to enjoy it’s every word, every nuance, every interaction between Grey and Irelyn - the said and the unsaid, the seen and the unseen, the done and the undone…and the dynamics of the Justice Team as it had developed! This is by far Christy Reece’s best work and the anticipation of waiting, reading and be a part of Grey’s and Irelyn’s happily ever after, is pure orgasmic pleasure!!!!!

A truly fitting finale for the Justice Team and the Justice Series!

Received an ARC from the author for an honest review.

The story we’ve all been waiting for!

I devour everything Christy Reece writes. My Kindle library has over a dozen of her books on it.
When I received my ARC of AMOJ, to say I was thrilled was an understatement!
I took my time reading it, savoring the story, hoping to make it last.

Irelyn has always been a mystery to me. What makes her tic? Why is Grey so devoted to her? Does she deserve his devotion?
Is she good, bad...or just complicated?

Grey is just...Grey😊
He’s honorable, loyal, and as always amazing!

We discover in AMOJ how the two meet, and the challenges they have faced together and apart, that have formed their, seemingly, unbreakable bond.
As more of their history is revealed, I began to really worry...
Will Irelyn and Grey finally have their HEA?
Will they be able to overcome their very complex past and have a future together?
Gosh, I hope so!

I’m having a hard time not including spoilers in my review, but I will say
secrets are revealed, and questions are answered, and the bad guy gets what he deserves!
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys exceptional writing, romance, swoon worthy heroes, and women. who...are complicated.

This was fantastic end to the series. The heroine truly had a horrendous life, no childhood to speak of, beaten, raped, abused and manipulated by a monster but Grey saved her while their history made their connection rife with complications. Honestly their history was so messed up yet they also were connected as no two people were.

When asked what I think of this book, the only word that comes to mind is WOW. We have followed Grey and Irelyn's story since the beginning of the Grey Justice series started. Their chemistry and walking on the line of love and hate, it was so intriguing to see their interactions and I couldn't wait for their story to finally come out. I was soooo not disappointed, we get to see the back story, what made them who they are and how their love and friendship has gone through ups and downs and they still end up having each other's backs.

Just like any CR book, there are lots of twists and turns and a few times I literally said out loud "Christy you are killing me here" or "Christy, WHY oh WHY must they go through that". If you like romantic suspense with a dose of Alpha male and a crazy demented villain, this book and series are totally for you.

I received a free complimentary book and voluntarily reviewed it.

I love Christy Reece’s books because she writes romantic suspense the way I like it. Her books are mostly filled with suspense with some romance. The books always have strong independent women who are part of groups who work side-by-side with men to rescue and save people. She allows her characters to sustain realistic injuries that are often described to the reader. I like this since I like her types of descriptions that are not so graphic that I need to skip over them.

These jobs are always difficult and dangerous for both the women and the men, and they require great military-type skills. In this author’s books the men treat the women agents the same way as they treat the men. None of them expect women to quit their jobs when they become involved or get married because of the danger. Yet, when it comes to the women they love, they are gentle and loving in their private moments.

A Matter of Justice follows that same pattern. Grey Justice owns and runs a group that rescues people. This is a private organization that often works with the government. However, they often work on their own.

Justice and Irelyn have known each other a long time. Their “relationship” extends back to when they were very young. However, due to a lot of bad events that have caused them to hurt each other, it is more of a love/hate relationship. In fact, in the first book, Irelyn leaves Justice in anger. We don’t know why, but we know it upsets Grey. Throughout the series, Ms. Reece does a fantastic job of teasing her readers with sightings and rumors of Irelyn. This allows us to see a lot of different emotions from Grey.

So, I have been waiting a long time for Grey and Irelyn’s story, and I was more than excited when I found out that A Matter of Justice is their story. And, Ms. Reece does not disappoint. This book gives the background of the relationship between Grey and Irelyn which is very important to the characters and their relationship. . Plus, while we are learning this background, Ms. Reece gives us suspense and intrigue galore! There are many twists and turns as the characters face their emotions and lots of trouble, past and present.

This is the fourth book in the series. Although it can be read alone, there is a lot of enjoyment from the teasers that Ms. Reece drops in the first four books.

This is a powerful book with non-stop suspense. I highly recommend it.

‘A Matter of Justice’ closes Christy Reece’s ‘Grey Justice’ series and is a gratifying read given that it finally uncovers the odd relationship between Irelyn and Grey, who have only always been each other’s. In this aspect ‘A Matter of Justice’ is unusual for a romance, seeing as Irelyn/Grey is never a pairing in question even as the book starts after a time of personal conflict and separation. For this reason, there’s little emotional angst when Irelyn and Grey simply talk to get their problems sorted then move forward as a pair, the driving force of the plot coming instead from an external source in Irelyn’s past that they can’t quite outrun.

So much of Grey/Irelyn’s relationship has been shrouded in vague terms, with bits of their history floating in and out of Reece’s previous books that it can be difficult to put together this weird relationship that ranges the entire spectrum from love to hate. In any case, reconstructing their relationship from my perspective was an exercise in frustration, even when I was one-thirds through the book. With all the hints that Reece has been dropping about them having spent so much time together, having hurt each other so brutally, I needed the details. Their story is finally told in the later parts of the book but I still found too many gaps in Grey/Irelyn’s history—the intricacies of how they got to where the are now—that I wanted to know, which I felt Reece glossed over or didn’t address.

In fact, the main failing of the story is that there were many things that Reece expected us to take at face value, which I found I couldn’t. Battling implausibility has always been the largest obstacle in romantic suspense anyway, as it takes this part of the brain to switch off each time I watch an action/thriller film, and as always, some more so than others. Maybe a flashback or 2 in the beginning would have helped, otherwise, their history felt more like recounting/telling rather than the immersive experience that I was hoping for.

That said, it’s a pretty good end to the series, even it probably doesn’t work too well as a standalone—Reece gives a lock-and-loaded type situation, with a journey that hops all over the globe (exotic locations seem par for the course) and one that finally puts Grey Justice in action. That Grey/Justice’s HEA is done before the climax is yet another unusual thing for this story, but Reece can do the unexpected while providing the fairytale-ish ending…which is always a pleasant surprise.

Over the course of the Grey Justice series, the intensity and mystery of the bond between Grey Justice and Irelyn Raine saturated the stories. It was clear the two had a long history together; hints of great emotion, deep pain and stormy passion were threaded throughout the pages. But nothing in those earlier books could have prepared for the journey through the past that illustrates how Grey and Irelyn came to be. It is an astonishing brutal yet amazingly uplifting story of survival, forgiveness and justice.

Grey Justice has spent his lifetime seeking justice; his wealth, prestige and connections are just a means to achieve that end. Throughout, Irelyn Raine was part of his life yet not - seemingly lovers, but at times distant from one another. Living together, yet in separate rooms. As Grey’s bonds grew with the addition of friends and colleagues in the Grey Justice Group, he connection to Irelyn seemed to fray. She would leave him for a time, yet return. But in this book, she is leaving for good, saying goodbye to the life she has with Grey, and to Grey himself. Irelyn has a mission to complete, and nothing will stop her…

This series was building up to this crescendo, with all focus on Grey and Irelyn. And nothing in the earlier books could have prepared the reader for their story. Nothing. Every adjective I can think of to describe Grey and Irelyn’s past just does not do it justice. The bond these two have and how it was developed has been brilliantly mapped out by Ms. Reece within a plot so engrossing, so suspenseful you cannot help but the turn pages until you reach the end. As Irelyn puts her plan, her mission, into play it is clear that Irelyn is Grey’s mission. I was riveted to the very end to see if they both could achieve their goals. This book was at times achingly poignant, with surprisingly lighter moments occurring at times you wouldn’t expect (no spoilers, but Grey’s question to Irelyn in middle of a gun fight? Priceless.) For me, this book is the perfect ending to the series. And that Epilogue? Just beautiful……*sigh*

"They might have started in darkness, might have spent years fighting their way free of the pain, but she had brought light to his life, warmth to his soul. He could not imagine his life without her. If she said yes, he would spend the rest of his life making sure she knew that."

Oh, how I love this series! All through the other books, you know there is a strong connection between Grey and Irelyn. You were given the hard-edged side of both of them, with a smattering of the indication of love. Finally! Finally!! We get to see their story. We become privy to the hearts of this couple, and how truly deep their connection is.

Irelyn Raine disappeared after the last assignment Grey gave her. She understood it. The man had to die. But, what she learned that night has turned her world upside down. Now, with her plan in motion, it's time to sever all ties with her present so she can destroy her past, and maybe, just maybe, have a future. Saying goodbye to Grey will be the hardest thing she has to do. He's her everything. But in order to protect him, and destroy the one thing that made her into what she is, she must. She's not sure she'll make it out of this alive, and even if she does, her heart may be shattered forever without him.

Grey Justice just watched her walk away from him. She's leaving and he didn't even fight for her. For them. The more he thinks about that day, the more convinced he is that she is up to something. Something that could get her killed. THAT, he won't ever let happen. He'll find her. Convince her to let him help her. After that, he's never letting her go. But, before that can happen, he has to know where she is, and what kind of trouble she's in. And knowing her, that's no easy task. She's ghosted him.

With both of them in the cross-hairs of every assassin, can they finally rid themselves of the darkness that has followed them all their lives? Will it cost them everything?

I have always loved Grey. He's a lovable character, but to see how deeply he loves Irelyn, and the chemistry between them, I was swooning double-time. It was so great to see a glimpse of normalcy in their relationship - the honesty, the joking, and, oh yeah, those steamy times.

I can't wait to see what's next!!

A Matter of Justice (the 4th book in the Grey Justice series) is quite the wild ride. I didn't want to put it down, but discovered I had to take a break here and there. This is the story of Grey and Irelyn. It will explain their relationship, expose their pasts (both together and separately) and finally put their pasts behind them so they can see a future. There was so much information to process as I read, I needed to take those breaks. But they didn't last long, because I had to get back to their story. If you haven't read the previous books in the series, you may not fully understand all the dynamics of the other characters, but this book will stand on its own. And I suspect once you read this story, you will go back to the beginning! We see the seedy underside of the world; we see the good in the world; we view the politics involved in getting different factions to work together for the better. As I read, I felt like I was in a fast car, speeding wildly down the road. And I loved every second of the journey. I'd give this one more stars if I could!

This is the fourth in the Grey Justice series by Christy Reece and every series she writes is a can't put down, sometimes heart stopping read.Grey and Irelyn have had a long, twisting road and relationship that comes full circle in this book. They have been with each other since they were teens with a lot of emotional baggage and a drive to do something good due to all the baggage they have between them. They seek justice for even those who seem to be in the great area but an evil from the past is coming and as much as Irelyn thinks she can take it on herself she is going to need Grey.Someone twisted from the past is coming and the challenge for them is to survive, facing the demons of their past in order to have a future together. This was a can't put down, can't wait to see what happens and then sad that it was over.

A Matter of Justice is Grey and Irelyn’s story. They have a very long and complicated history, which we found out a lot more about. They have issues from their past that they are trying to resolve before they can move on to a future. We get a glimpse into the past to see what made each of them who they are and why their connection is so strong. They both did things to protect the other with concern to themselves and the lengths they were willing to go showed how much they truly mean to each other. There was plenty of action and suspense along with the romance to keep me turning the pages and not wanting to put it down. I loved that we got to see all of the characters from the previous stories and that there was more than one HEA in this story. I love this series and this story was no exception. I would highly recommend it to anyone who love a good romantic suspense read!!

I have been waiting (rather impatiently) for Grey and Irelyn's story since the first Grey Justice Book, Nothing to Lose, was released. And Christy Reece did not disappoint. A Matter of Justice was a whirlwind of romance, redemption, and revenge that kept me turning the page late into the night. The characters’ checkered past is finally revealed amid swoon worthy statements from Grey and Irelyn kicking some bad guy butt. Of course, the book would not be complete without the rest of the gang. They provide the steady support Grey and Irelyn need to overcome their past and dole out their unique brand of justice. A Matter of Justice has it all: mystery, romance, action, and humor weaved together to make a truly unforgettable story. I highly recommend the Grey Justice Series.

This book is to supposed to be Grey & Irelyn's story. I feel that a ether way to describe it is the climax of their story. Each book in the series has been dropping hints & leading up to this book. Grey & Irelyn have been dancing around each other for a large portion of their lives. She doesn't think she's worthy of him while he loves her no matter what.

Ms. Reece gives us characters that are tough, gritty & realistic. She doesn't pretty them up or attempt to hide their flaws & that's what makes her books so great. Her plot seems to always move at the perfect pace, never to fast or to slow. The tempo seems to build throughout the book until the final secret is revealed. I know that I'm not able to fully express my thoughts but I feel she is one of the best in romantic suspense.

Love Fought Hard And Long For

Oh my, I've read all the Justice books and they were fantastic. It can be read as stand alone but as an added bonus to yourself, read them all. The love, the pain, the betrayal, the love that lasted for so very many years. The story of redemption and forgiveness. What Irelyn and Grey went through for so many years to finally come together. Your heart will race and break at the same time. The HEA is well worth every adventure you go through. An extra bonus is reading and knowing about old friends. This one will stay with you for a good while. What a love, what a story. It is one not to be missed. It was worth the wait.

Eagerly anticipated edition in the series

Sooo needed to read Grey and Irelyns story. Life conspires to bring them together in short bursts, but Grey's unwavering love for Irelyn shines through, convincing her is a different story. With a history, a lot of baggage a little good interspersed with more bad but Irelyn always finds her way back to Grey, her shelter to heal, safety. Finally can Grey convince her of his commitment and love for her? Will Irelyn accept she's worthy and deserving? Action packed, brutal memories, will they survive the attacks, make it together? Definite must read, prepare to be lost in the book right to the end.

Did not disappoint!! Another AMAZING read from Christy. The Characters capture you, and drag you into the story. Holding you with in their trials and errors. Taking you to another place in time. Their sorrows and regrets becoming your own. The gimps of happiness throughout. Your heart aches, and cheers at times. You want to shake the characters at other times . On the edge of my seat until the very end. I could not read fast enough to see what would happen next. But also did not want it to end. A MUST READ!! 10 out of 5 star rating.

I’ve been waiting for Grey & Irelyn’s story for a long time , and it was well worth the wait ! This book closes out The Grey Justice series and what a great series it was. You can read this or any of the others as a stand-alone, but they are all so wonderfully written you’ll want to read them all. A Matter of Justice is full of love and forgiveness , danger and suspense, and redemption and in the end , closure for the characters we have loved to read about. Thanks Christy for the ride, I’m kind of sorry to see it end!

Love love love!! This book starts off with a bang and doesn’t stop. You don’t need to read in order to understand and love the characters. But I have been waiting for Justice’s story. And it was definitely worth the wait. You will love this story just as much as I did

I love Christy Reece! Her books are always outstanding! This book was no different. You get sucked in on page 1 and she never lets you go. It is full of twists and turns. I've always loved Grey Justice and I'm glad we finally got to read his story. You will not be disappointed!

Omg, I absolutely loved this book. I had a hard time putting it down to do anything else. I've been waiting to get to read the full story between Irelyn and Grey. How they met, survived and fell in love is a wonderful story. I wish this book wasn't the end, I enjoyed this series alot. I will forever remain one of my favorites.
