The War Rages On
Grace Johnson is a 16-year-old Christian girl living during the Civil War era. Time and time again, her faith is put to the test as she and her family encounter many difficult times. Her father not being a believer greatly complicates matters, especially when a preacher’s son named David asks for Grace’s hand in marriage. Mrs. Johnson is a constant encouragement to her daughter as she discovers that through all of life’s trials, God is faithful. Grace realizes that she needs to trust the Lord in all things and do what is right no matter the circumstance.

July 1, 2019I met Cecelia Schmidt at a homeschool convention and learned about her books. She published this book as a young teen and that's something I wanted to support, so I bought her book. I got halfway home before realizing I completely forgot to ask her to sign it!!
You can tell that the subject matter-- which centers around a relationship with God-- is very near to the author's heart. She writes in a way that you know she knows what she believes and is not afraid to say it.
I do see a lot of room for improvement. Any writer knows that there is ALWAYS room to improve. I hope that Cecelia Schmidt takes that challenge to heart-- I'm sure that she has.
I was informed that this book is self edited-- what a job! I'm a short way into editing my own novel and I know how difficult and discouraging it has been for me already. I'm sure that it was not easy for her to edit this book entirely on her own.
I liked seeing the relationship between this author's main character and the character's mother. I think it shows a lot of how the author's relationship with her own mother is-- trusting, caring, loving.
I hope that many people can find help within these pages and encouragement to keep going further into their relationship with God. I wish the author much success.
