Assortment of leadership articles that previously appeared in HBR review. I particularly enjoyed Goleman's article on emotional intelligence making a leader (through self awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skill); the summary of Peter Drucker's Effective executive (highlighting saying "we" and not "I"); the summary of Collin's Level Five Leadership from "Good to Great"; The work of leadership section had two quotes that stood out: "a leader has to have the emotional capacity to tolerate uncertainty, frustration, and pain. He has to be able to raise tough questions without getting too anxious himself and get conflict out into the open and use it as a source of creativity." Finally, the back section overviewing the Cleveland Clinics turnaround of patient satisfaction scores was a good reminder of how fundamental patient centric focus is to improved outcomes and ultimate financial success/sustainability.
