Another thrilling new reverse harem series in a dystopian settings. I think my toes are curling the whole time and I might have to stretch a limb (or two). The pacing of the story was actually slow burn but with all those moles and alieny stuffs going on, I felt like I had ran for my life, too. Sadly, there were some times I was rather feeling impatient. Also, this was the first one in the series so there's no much explanation about the back-story of the situation in the first place. Just more on the action department.
I got to understand, accept and love the heroine in the end. At first, it seemed frustrating that she's acting that way BUT wasn't really her fault and was more because of her dire circumstances. What got on my nerves though was her lashing out on the men, esp on Hector. I personally didn't find him too alpha. So those times the heroine was being immature with him, I kind of wanted to shake her. But yeah, I wouldn't be able to completely fathom what she must have been experiencing. And what mattered the most was I could see how she grew and learned to adapt.
The guys were amazing. I respect their treatment of Marie. They are protective but not overbearing. They are military and all battle skilled but their gentleness and patience with the heroine was greatly appreciated. They did act like men who knew what they're doing.
Just a shame that relationship or harem-building wise, this one's a slow burn. (Again, that's probably my impatience!) But on the other hand, they were fighting for their freaking lives so I shouldn't really expect much action in the bedroom. I'm excited how the author is turning the whole comrades thing into something romantic though.
