This novella is like popcorn; can't get enough.
Popcorn is my compulsion. If someone hands it to me, I eat it even when I'm not hungry. I eat it until it is gone. And even when it is gone, I still feel like I didn't have enough. That was how I felt about this snippet from Monica Enderle Pierce. She cooked it and gave it to me cheap (for $.99). I then consumed it quickly and still felt like I wanted more at the end.

I am a big fan of the Militess & Mage series, but I haven't picked up the books

It's a shame I read this sequel first instead of the full-fledged series because of both being spoiled a few tidbits here and there, along with the realization it's a series with good worldbuilding.

Being a novella side-story, you will obviously end up with only mere nibbles, and the plot of Princess Arevik and her enslaved bodyguard Mahod offers expected tension from their forbidden love. I liked the overall concept of the story where Arevik has to choose between being betrothed with two nobleme

I would have loved this to be a little longer so I could get more of Arevik's sass and self-assuredness. I think she's such a wonderful character that needs her own book series... Magod can come along too.

The "twist" at the end was a little disturbing and felt glossed over due to the length of the novella. You end up saying, "wait, WHAT?!" and then it's over. I'd give this a read just because Magod and Arevik are great together and you're able to see Magod be rewarded for his loyalty and a love

Young love amongst war and politics of court. To Give Her Heart is poetical in it's written language. The protagonists are veiled in mystery and love that can not be shared between a pauper and a princess. This feels like a tale written and song by bards.

An enjoyable read.

Her stories are filled with strong women, smart men, love, adventure, and magic. She has an English literature degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and she lives in Seattle, Washington, with her husband, their daughter, a neurotic dog, and two crazy ...more
