Willow's Cry

Rate this book
Alex is just a regular guy… who can hear the wind speak and the earth talk, not a bad thing for a Park Ranger if a bit unusual. His life is everything he desires. Until Mother Nature expresses her displeasure at his family’s threat to sell the land they had been charged to protect. Alex is left to try to stop the sale, finding a damsel in distress along the way who wraps herself around his heart. Happy living in her tree, observing the world without joining in, Willow has yearned for Alex for years. Too shy to emerge, the little nymph is suddenly catapulted into Alex’s arms, her tree destroyed during a massive storm. Mother Nature has a plan and she’ll do everything she can to force Alex’s family to continue their roles as guardians, even if it means sacrificing one she protects.

Willow's Cry by Beverly Ovalle is an exotic little story. It is the first I have read by the author, and while I didn't love it, I didn't hate it either, and would give the author another try. The writing is good, but there were some parts of the story that didn't sit well with me. Overall its a good story and very creative. Not like anything I have ever read or seen, and for that I did like it. The story was creative, with the characters strongly built and good relationships and the dialog was solid. Alex is a Park Ranger, and is good at his job, because he can hear the wind talk. He thinks its his imagination, but it has saved his life a couple times, so he is okay with it. He doesn't tell people because he doesn't want to come off as crazy. His family has protected a piece of land for generations, but his grandmother is trying to sell it, which has made Mother Nature, as well as Alex and his family, upset. After a bad storm, Alex finds Willow, alone in the woods. She has been living in a tree her whole life, but it was damaged in a recent storm. There is a lot not in the synopsis, so i don't want to go much further and ruin the story. Lets just say Alex is exposed to a whole new world, which helps answer many questions he has.

Nymphs, dryads, fauns, and sprites, oh my! I feel there must be more to this story--too much world building went into this fantastical day in Alex's life. As it turns out, Lightning Strike is a parallel short story written a few years earlier and I'm going to have to read that one now. I'm hoping the author gives us a full-bodied novel, perhaps taking us back to the original land protection agreement between Gaia and Alex's family. And I'd be very interested in the development of the relationship between Alex's parents.

One thing is clear, I will never be able to swim in a natural body of water again without having lewd thoughts, thanks to this book.

Willow's Cry by Beverly Ovalle is that feel good read that no matter what mood you're in when starting, you can't help feeling all gushy and happy at the end.

My first book by Beverly Ovalle, I went into this stand-a-long with a open mind. Right away I was drew into this story and couldn't help feel for Alex and his urge to save is family's land. I'm not going to get into anymore then that, story wise, because this is a tease of a short, at only 109 pages, a simple misplaced word will ruin this unique read.

Instead lets talk about Alex, I liked him right off the bat, kind, strong and not a over barring alpha. Alex is that dream guy we all want (Fiction has ruined me). The only thing I could say is flawed about him, was when he was trying to save an important person, his mind kept going to the dity when looking at Willow. Listen I'm all for some good smut, but for being a dire situation where someone could.. lets say DIE.. it was not the time or place.

Willow, she is well, I think the best way to describe her.. the picture perfect vision of a dainty woman. Not don't get me wrong she was strong in her own right, I wasn't to found of all the crying she did at the start, but you'll get why when you read this story(and you will, cause it's a great story). There was this annoying innocents to her, that well, I don't know, something about her overall character bothered me. Things moves fast between her and Alex, and well. I think that has something to do with it as well.

The other thing that bother me, was how fast it ended.(I wanted more.. more) This book could have easily been a full leant novel, the foundation and bones where these, and I think half of my problems with it would have been fixed if this was a little longer, even by 50 pages. But I know writing short stories is harder then writing full length. What I'm really saying.. I want it to be full length, cause I want more! Or make this a series or some kind... just saying.

With that said, take my high recommendation that you will fall for this sweet, original otherworldly read. As I said, it's that feel good book that will brighten your day.

Happy Reading

Willow’s Cry is a magical story by Beverly Ovalle. It is a very erotic novella- the story is both sweet and steamy. It is well written, with an almost lyrical feel to the writing. Ms. Ovalle is a ‘new-to-me’ author, but after reading this book I will definitely be looking for more of her work to read. This story is a little different from some of the others in the same genre- Fantasy/paranormal/romance- it was easy to lose myself in the story and I was enchanted by it. The characters are very endearing, and I became invested in them and their story.
Alex and Willow are wonderful characters, who have their own unique qualities- I don’t want to spoil the story by giving away too much- you really should discover all the surprising details for yourself- but suffice to say their uniqueness is what brings them together, along with a twist of fate (and Mother Nature).
I loved all the surprising revelations through the story. They are very creative and clever. Ms. Ovalle has crafted a wonderful world in which to set her story- I loved all the unique touches and her scene setting, from the description of the storm, to the trees, the glade, the water sprites, mother nature, and so much more…
The story was so delightful, but with a spicy undertone that flowed through the whole book. There were funny scenes, emotional moments, as well as some touching and tender sections. I would like to have had a little more in-depth story, have had more explanation of the ‘lore’, backstories etc. But, I still really enjoyed this read even without it being fully in-depth, it was still a really great read. I am looking forward to reading more from Ms. Ovalle in the future.

Thank you, Ms. Ovalle!

A great little erotic fantasy!
This is a super erotic fantasy novella. It is linked to the author’s earlier novella Lightning Strike , but works perfectly well as a standalone.
Alex is in the perfect job as he not only adores working in the great outdoors, but has more than the usual affinity with nature as he can hear the wind and the earth talk. His job as a Park Ranger also gives him the opportunity to protect the land his family is responsible for. His family is planning to sell the land but Gaia cannot let that happen and decides to cast Willow one of the wood nymphs from her tree in a desperate attempt to save the land.
Will Alex be her saviour? Can she survive without being able to return to her tree? Will the land be saved or will her sacrifice be in vain? Alex will need to call on all the help he can get as well as his inner reserves if he is to save not just Willow but the land and family he loves.
I found the read to be both sweet and sizzling as befits an erotic tale. The author and the characters do not shy away from getting to know each other intimately – again and again in some scorching scenes. Alex’s life as a Ranger certainly has some perks and as for those water sprites…
Recommended for lovers of erotic romance who enjoy stories imbued with fantasy and magic.
Please note an ARC of this book was given to me by the author for the purpose of a fair and honest review.

This was my first time reading a novel of Beverly Ovalle’s and I was not disappointed that I had picked up this little magical gem of a novella. There are a lot of different elements that go into this book. There is a mythical and fantasy type of world, set as a backdrop to the romance that takes place between our two main characters, Alex and Willow. The other major player is Mother Nature herself. I loved that this had lots of comedic relief and steamy scenes, everything really balanced well and engaged me from the very beginning up until the last pages.

Alex is the park ranger for the park that contains the tree Willow was content living in. He has fits when it comes down to working with Mother Nature herself, and not the green thumb kind! When his grandmother makes a decision that will impact the entire park he protects Mother Nature gets very angry and spurs a outlash from her and impacts Willow, the female nymph, who is living happily in her tree that is in the beautiful park. When her home is destroyed she is spurred into the arms of Alex, and it will promise to be one steamy ride. Will Alex be able to help Willow and make his amends with Mother Nature before it is too late?
This is a novella so, short and sweet, as well as a quick read. I won’t give away too much. I can tell you I will be looking for more of Beverly’s work to devour soon!

Willow's Cry by Beverly Ovalle is a mythological fantasy story that will keep you engaged until the end. This is my first story by this author and I enjoyed it. Her writing style is such that she brought her characters to life and made me feel as if I was right there with them. Her characters are enjoyable and connectable. They are hysterical characters that will show you what it is like to be a part of something so strong that letting go is tough. Alex is a Park Ranger that can hear the wind and the earth talk. In this case, Mother Nature is not happy with Alex's family and becomes protective over the land in question. There is a romance component of this story also. Alex finds himself coming face to face with Willow. Her tree was destroyed in a storm but that doesn't stop her from finding herself in his arms. Mother Nature has a plan but you will have to read to find out what that is. There characters in this book are a little different than I am use to. We have nymphs as characters for the most part. They are strong and know what they want. All of the characters play a big part in keeping the story going. I highly recommend this story. Find out what happens when Mother Nature has a tantrum.

Will Alex stop the sale? Will he continue to be a guardian? Can Willow survive not living in her tree? Can Alex save Willow and the land?
You will have to read this short amazing story….

5 out of 5 stars

The story Willow's Cry by Beverly Ovalle is a fantasy/mythology book that I loved reading. I loved the main character of Alex. He is a man that has a special connection to the earth and land. He is a park ranger and is always ready to help others. This story finds him having to find a way to stop the sale of the land his family has been charged with protecting. This is a wonderful story that has mythological creatures and a damsel in distress. There is romance and some very steamy scenes. The importance of family and working together are emphasized. I liked the attention to detail that is given in the story. You feel like you are right here with the characters. Will Alex find a way to stop the land from being sold? I also enjoyed reading about the other characters in this book and what happens when they interact with each other. I would love to read more about Alex and the other members of his family. This is the first book I have read by the author and found that it held my attention all the way through and was easy to follow. I look forward to reading more of her stories.

Fantasy at its finest! Willow's Cry by Beverly Ovalle was a great introduction to a new author for me. I love a fantasy and when you throw romance and a little sexiness into the mix, you have a perfect book. Alex has a special bond with nature and having a job as a park ranger work so well with his bond. He can communicate with nature. He is also tasked with protecting his family's land. Mother Nature has other ideas and Cassie wood nymph out to see if she can persuade Alex to sell the land. Will Mother Nature's plan work? Will Willow ever get back to her tree? Will Alex and Willow find love? you must read to find out. Beverly did such a great job with the two characters that you feel like you are right there with them. I can feel the emotions that they are going through. Laugh after actions and worry about Mother Nature's plan like it will personally affect me. She writes her scenes so well that I can picture myself right there, hear the wind and the Earth talk. This book had me hooked from the very first page until the final page. I will gladly read anything else by this author.

Willow’s Cry
By Beverly Ovalle

This is a short fun fantasy love story.

Alex is a park ranger who can hear the trees and wind talk. His love for the tree life is real. There is no better place for him. Now he has to calm Mother Nature, as well as his family down. Bring everyone together and convince them to not sell their land. Bring in Willow and watch the romance grow.

Willow is content living in her tree. She is a shy tree nymph, who thinks the world of Alex. Then when Mother Nature comes along. She is thrown out of her tree, and into Alex’s arms. The big oak landed on her tree, but they may be able to save him. What a storm!

Beverly Ovalle wrote this cute story. Like Mother Nature she has wreaked havoc on everybody in her path. She really pulls on the emotional strings with her romance. I love the characters and the love story she has written for them. Beverly Ovalle is a new author for me. I look forward to reading more from her. Not for those under 18 due to adult content.

Willows Cry by Beverly Ovalle is an interesting and unique story that will easily sweep you up.
Alex is a park ranger, tasked with looking after the nature around him. However he is a park ranger with a twist. Able to hear the Wind and the Earth speak he is connected to them by a magical force. However when Alex’s family decide to sell the land that he protects Mother Nature shows her displeasure. It is left up to Alex to try and stop the sale and retain the land he must protect.
When he discovers Willow, the nymph that has been infuriated with him for years, things start get interesting. Will Alex be able to keep hold of the land while fulfilling his own dreams?

This was the first book that I have read by this author I can definitely say I enjoyed it. I thought the story was unique and the characters interesting. There were written well and in a way that made their story believable. Although quite a short story it didn’t feel like it was lacking in any way. A very enjoyable read.

Willow’s Cry was an interesting 4 star read.
This is my first read from this author and it pulled me right in.

Alex is a park ranger that I would say has certain gifts when it comes to mother nature. Some things happen that cause mother nature to not be happy with Alex and things start to happen. While this is going on Willow a nymph finds herself homeless when her tree is destroyed.

Alex ends up finding Willow and helping her. These two have quite the connection and we get some very steamy love scenes. Will he be able to help Willow? Will he be able to make amends with mother nature and make her happy?

There is so much more that goes on and I don’t want to give it away since it is a short read. All the characters added a great element to the story. I would say this is a fantasy read with a little bit of erotic romance to it. Beverly does a great job with her writing and you feel like you are right there with the characters. I am looking forward to reading more from her.

By Beverly Ovalle
4 stars

This was a great novella and a nice introduction to a new author. I thought that the pace and flow of the book was really good and it was a nice quick read. I thought that the author did a great job with having so much going on in such a short book, the depth of the storyline was great and the development of the characters was good also. I really liked Alex – I thought he was a pretty sexy Park Ranger. I loved the connection between him and Gaia, the chemistry was great!
I loved all the little magical twists combined with the erotic romance and fantasy – it was quite a unique storyline and it was nice to read something a little different.
I would definitely recommend this book and I would definitely like to read more from this author again in the future.

So I can honestly say I have never read a book like this before. The synopsis grabbed me though and I had to give it a try and I am oh so glad I did. It felt like I stepped into some sort of fairy tale, but not like any fairy tale I've ever read, ummm this is not the kind of story you would want to share with anyone under 18...I'm well over 18 and caught myself blushing..Whew!!

The characters were fantastic, the world building had me feeling like I was right there, I could picture everything. The storyline was great and I especially loved Mother Nature's part in the whole thing. I could definitely get into reading more about this type of world and these type of characters, heck I would love it if Alex and Willow’s story continued, a lot about the future was left wide open and having more would be awesome!!

Loved it!!

Willow’s Cry by Beverly Ovalle is a erotic fantasy book full of mythical creatures. This is the second book I have read by this author, and I have to say they keep getting better and better. Alex is a Park Ranger who is able to listen to the wind. He is out searching for his cousin, when he see the full effect of what Mother Nature has done to the forest and the trees. Mother Nature is trying to protect land that Alex’s family owns when his Grandmother tries to sell it off. Alex find Willow, who has lost the protection of her tree in the storm. This is a fascinating short story that held my attention from beginning to end. The world building is amazing and all of the characters are connectable. You really don’t want to miss this story especially if you love fantasy romance. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Willow's Cry was my first read by Beverly Ovalle. I was pleasantly surprised with what this book, story and author had to offer me.

I have to say that I didn't expect the outcome of the storyline. I definitely enjoyed the romance aspect of this book, and the way in which the author developed it. She did a great job with her characters, and the way in which they were. I don't normally read books with nymphs in it, so this one was a first for me. But I have to say that I was surprised with how likeable the characters were. Not just the nymphs – Willow in particular, but the Humans – Alex as well. He was most certainly an individual that will stick with you.

The characters, and their relationships were something that I enjoyed. I would consider this book to be a 4 Star Review – and would definitely consider reading more books by this author.

Willow’s Cry by Beverly Ovalle is a short story about what happens when you anger Mother Nature. Alex is a Park Ranger gifted with the ability to hear the wind and earth speak. When his family threatens to sell the land that Mother Nature has entrusted to them she is rather angry to say the least. It is during a raging storm that the tree of a nymph named Willow is destroyed and she soon finds herself in Alex’s arms. Will this be enough motivation for Alex to stop the sale? What will happen to a nymph separated from her tree? These questions and many more are asked and answered in this fast paced four star read. This is my first book by the author and I'm excited to see where we're taking next.

This is one of those books that packs a lot into only 111 pages. It's a short story yet feels like so much more. For me - it was like like watching poetry unfold. The way the story flowed from the first word to the last, with all of the sights and sounds of the setting set a beautiful tone, I was able to visualize the story as if I was watching a movie.

This author is new to me and I'm not sure if she only writes short stories or if she writes full blown novels. I will be looking up her books for my tbr.

If you are looking for something light and whimsical that packs a powerful punch, this is the story for you.

Willow’s Cry by Beverly Ovalle

Willow’s Cry is a 4-Star erotic fantasy novella by Beverly Ovalle. It was a really imaginative story that was a quick and fun read. The story flowed very well and it was over too quickly. I would’ve enjoyed more of the story to allow the characters to develop even more. I’ve always joked about making Mother Nature angry and this story explored that idea. There were some steamy scenes which while I enjoyed them, I would’ve been just fine without so much of the sensual side of things. Overall, this was a good story and a nice afternoon read. It did not disappoint.

The attraction between Willow and Alex was instantaneous and incredibly hot. I feel that I get a good understanding of these characters. This story has a lot of information packed into it, and several back stories involved. This was a very easy and fun read that I enjoyed reading. However, I do wish that there was more of the book so we could get more into the main conflict, and learn more about Willow’s and Alex’s relationship. I am glad to see that Levi has his own short story, and I hope to read that very soon.

Willow’s Cry was a fantastical story, unlike anything I have read. It had creatures I hadn’t heard of and a unique storyline. The love scenes were steamy and unique, with an added element I did not expect (and it was probably my favorite part). Though I felt like it could have been longer, it was an interesting and fun read. An epilogue would have been cool, too. It does have a happy ever after.

Willows Cry by Beverly Ovalle
Rated 4 stars

This was quite the Interesting story. Not quite what I was expecting. It seems to be highly sensual. The whole water sprite thing added a whole new level to playing in the water. The story surrounding all of that was really quite good. I enjoyed that part of the story. I like that spirits live in trees and are destroyed when the tree or land dies. I liked the whole family and all of their dynamics. Alex being a park ranger is what intrigued me to read this when I checked out the synopsis. I think this story could have been opened up more if not so much time was spent on the sensual side of things. I had likes and dislikes while reading this. I liked the forest characters and their purpose of the story. Willow got her name from her tree..so creative. Again the story side had much potential. Dislikes were already mentioned above. More story less coupling. This book is enjoyable to read and the characters are nice. I wish there was more development to the characters.
Although I will always think of people in trees when I see the willow.
