Mikolas Leandros carries the Guardian’s mark, and has been working behind enemy lines trying to protect the Muses from the Order of the Titans. The moment he lays eyes on Trinity Porter, the Muse of Music, a power awakens inside of him, a primal need to protect her.
Trinity has lost two of her Muse sisters to the Order of the Titans, and just because the sexy Greek billionaire claims to be her Guardian doesn’t mean she can trust him.
With Kronos on the loose, the stakes couldn’t be higher as Trinity and her sisters open the legendary Theater of the Muses. But the longer Mikolas works at Trinity’s side, the more he comes to realize that love is the only thing worth fighting for, and in the end, love could save them all.

Greek mythology is given a sexy, eventful modern-day twist in Lisa Kessler’s Muse Chronicles series, as the latest generation of Zeus’ reborn (mortal) daughters meet the men who, unbeknownst to them, were always destined to be their (also mortal) guardians.
The gods were petulant and vengeful, and humans were nothing more than disposable playing pieces.”
Hard and fast falling is very much on the cards as each muse finds her guardian, and whilst some of the men are more at ease with their newfound latent abilities than others initially, each is prepared move heaven and earth to keep his beloved safe from the constant danger lurking in the shadows.
Apparently when you’re around, I turn into Hercules.”
Once again Kessler has created a series that quickly became addictive reading with a cast of characters to love and hate and who each bring value to the story and some surprises along the way. And although flicking the final page on this series was a little bittersweet, you can’t really ask for more when the characters are loveable and you share their victories and losses. I think the fact I binged all seven books in two weeks speaks for itself.
Song of the Soul by Lisa Kessler Muse Chronicles series #7. Last book in the series. Paranormal romantic suspense. Mythology. Best read as part of the series. The Prophecy says that every generation the nine daughters of Zeus are reborn. With each Muse, there is a guardian who will only come into his power or gift after meeting his destined muse. After many construction delays the rebuilding of the Theater of the Muses is complete and ready to open. Mikolas Leandros claims to be Trinity’s guardian but she doesn’t trust him. He’s ordered and killled on behalf of the Order of the Titans. Her friends! His patronage dates back generations though he says he was undercover to protect the Muses.
A wonderful and emotional conclusion with visits from characters from the previous books as well as some surprising pop-ins. Mikolas has a lot to answer for. Kronos wants to hurt his son Zeus and the lives of the muses and their families are in danger. Kronos has the power to destroy the world. This conclusion is powerful and apt in this contemporary setting. Smart. Emotional and satisfying.
What a moving conclusion to this enthralling series this proved to be! It is a delightful mix of Greek Mythology and the nine Muses in a contemporary setting, with the Muses endeavouring to open the Theatre of the Muses despite the efforts of the Order of the Titans striving to thwart their endeavours. It is an intriguing story as Mikolas Leandros has been working undercover with the Order of the Titans, becoming their leader, but he's really a Guardian, someone chosen to protect one of the Muses. He's assumed that his Muse was the Muse of Astronomy, one of the two who the Order have murdered despite his efforts to prevent them doing so. However, he's wrong - the Muse he's destined to protect is Trinity, the Muse of Music. However, she has no reason to trust him and every reason to distrust him.. . . . Can they find a way to work together to prevent Kronos destroying mankind?
In this story the theatre is almost ready to be opened but Kronos is on the loose and he has company from one of the Titans. Mikolas has to convince Trinity, the other Muses and their Guardians that he really is on their side, whilst Ted Belkin has to decide just which side he is on. . . . .Get ready for the gods, titans, Muses and their guardians to be involved in an action-packed, enthralling race against time to save the world from the vengeance of Kronos. Can Zeus really stop his father from killing all the humans? Can the other gods work with him and the guardians to end the seemingly never ending conflict within the family of the gods and save humanity?
I really think you need to have read the other books in the series to truly appreciate this one, but they're all riveting reads that I've thoroughly enjoyed reading so it might be that I'm biased! This is a story of love conquering even godlike powers, learning to trust and giving of your best to benefit everyone. It is an emotive story of second chances, changing for the better and recognising when you've been misled and betrayed. It is a story of believing fate has a plan, there is a destiny to work towards, and there's even a surprise for one of the older Muses at the theatre opening to reinforce this. It is another real page turner from this master storyteller. Lisa Kessler brings the scenarios and characters vividly to life in the imagination of her readers, taking them with her on this captivating adventure that is resolved brilliantly in the end. So sorry this series has come to an end but looking forward to starting any future one from this highly talented author.
I requested and was gifted a copy of this book without obligation and this is my review after choosing to read it.
Kronos, the King of the Titans and God of time, has broken free and walks among us. In his human form he is Kevin Elys. His primary goal is to hurt his son Zeus, by killing his nine reborn daughters known as muses. Kronos’s secondary goal is to destroy the world.
For a millennium, Zeus has known his father would return. The question was when. “Every generation the nine daughters of Zeus are reborn, and with their rebirth are also nine Guardians. They will be marked by the gods, and given gifts to protect his treasure. Their abilities will only be unlocked when they find their muse.”
This generation of muses has been brought to Crystal City by a vision. They are to work together to restore Les Neuf Soeurs, Theatre of the Muses, to inspire mankind through science and the arts. “Destiny is playing out in Crystal City. This generation will decide the future of mankind.” Several of the muses have found their guardians. A few have been killed by the Order of the Titans. Only Trinity Porter, the Muse of Music, remains single and without a guardian. Not having a guardian makes Trinity an easy target for Kevin and what’s left of the now dismantled Order of the Titans.
To the world, Mikolas Leandros is a Greek billionaire and head of Belkin Oil. But he is actually so much more. Since he was a child, Mikolas has known he was marked to be a guardian, as was his grandfather before him. In a move to protect muses and the world itself, Mikolas’s father and grandfather have put him in the position to head up Belkin Oil and the American division of the Order. However, Mikolas’s covert operation has made him an enemy of this generation of muses and their guardians. Believing his muse was murdered by the Order before he arrived, Mikolas just wants to help protect the other muses and stop Kronos. When Kronos goes after Trinity, Mikolas knows he’s meant to be her guardian. “I’ll fight until my last breath to protect you.”
The Guiders of Destiny have played a long game, and the end is in sight. “You think the danger has passed? Far from it.” Kronos is tired of playing around. He wants Zeus and his daughters to suffer. To that end, he unleashes his brother Iapetus, the Titan of Mortality, the Piercer to help him. An unlikely hero emerges and offers the guardians a fighting chance against Kronos and Iapetus. To ultimately defeat these Titans, the guardians will have to fight together and call upon higher powers. The muses will have to come together, stand tall, and show the beauty of the mind and the heart of mankind.
Lisa Kessler has ended the Muse Chronicles series nicely. Song of the Soul is an enemies to lovers story. Events in past books had Trinity hating and not trusting Mikolas just by his name and the sight of him. But Mikolas stood by his honor and beliefs and gained not only the trust and respect of Trinity, but the other muses and guardians as well. Song of the Soul and the conclusion of the series did not play out the way I thought it would. However, Lisa did throw in some people and characters I didn't expect. She also managed to bring tears to my eyes.
To a certain exist, Lisa has written details on past characters and events into this story. But I really think to fully understand events in this book, you need to read the whole series, or at least start with Breath of Passion.
**Received a copy of the book from the author and reviewed voluntarily.**
One thing I know for sure: a book in this series will make me cry. And, yes, I cried at the end. The concluding book in this series was full of love, redemption, hope, and inspiration. I hate to see a series end, but eventually they all must, and this one is ending on a bang. We get to finally see Trinity get her Guardian, and all of the Muses finally prevail over Kronos. I know that might be a spoiler, but no one really expected them to lose. LOL! The only thing I wish is that the book had been a little bit longer at the end. I hate to see it go, but I look forward to more from this author. Highly recommend! I received a complimentary copy of this, and I voluntarily left a review.
Review copy- I got the chance to review this book before it comes out and I have to say, Holy Cow!! This is the last book in the series and it is so sad to see the end of this Beautiful series. This story is about Trinity and Mikolas and their story doesn’t start in a good place. We see the struggle to trust and save the world. I loved this story and the ending but it through me for a loop. I recommend this series to anyone!
I’ve loved this series more and more as I’ve gotten further into it. Normally this isn’t the case. Especially when each book built on the last one and none felt like the ball had been dropped.
Every character had a reason for being. Every character had a purpose at every part of the journey, and it didn’t feel like it was sticky taped together or anything.
The way Lisa was able to pivot the story from hate and revenge to forgiveness and love was amazing. Even though I’m not sure how “believable” the very ending bit was, especially given how much Lisa stressed that there was only one set of Muses born each generation.
I also would’ve liked to have known what ended up happening with the Gods. We can only assume the ended was what the Muses were trying to achieve. But how did their relationships change? Did they change their views on anything?
This is the seventh and final book in the Muse Chronicles series . Mikolas and Trinity's book . MIkolas is Trinity's guardian but he has a lot of work to do to convince the muse of music that he is a good guy . Not the bad guy she thought he was . She is doubtful that he is her muse but when Kronos is on the loose and the stakes are high for Trinity and her sisters . Will MIkolas and Trinity realize that love will get through and love is the only thing that is worth fighting for. I love all the characters in this series but I think that MIkolas and Trinity are my all time favourite. Mikolas is a sexy hot billionaire. Who is more then he seems, he has been training for this his whole life . He comes from a long list of guardians . You will love him . Trust me ladies . Trinity is an angel , she can sing like one and can play anything musical . She is fiery and strong but she is also distrusting of all things MIkolas . He was her enemy at one time and she is having a hard time wrapping her head around the fact that he is her guardian . She has some great one liners that are all related to him . They are great characters but together they are hot . The rest of the sisters and their guardians are back to help end Kronos once and for all . I am kind of sad that this series is ending , I loved these stories so much . The author did a great job wrapping the stories up she mixes Greek mythology with the nine muses seamlessly. I sat down and read this story in one evening . I tried to prolong it cause I so did not want this to end . I was so wrapped up in the characters . I was laughing and then I was bawling my eyes out praying that they would get their happy ever after . Trust me the author will put you through the wringer with this last book . With every sad part there is a sweet part too , the moral of the story is the one of love . Love will defeat all that it comes up. I strongly suggest you read the books in order . Check them all out . you won't be disappointed .
There is a bittersweet feeling when a series comes to a close, as such is the case for the Muse Chronicles by Lisa Kessler. While I could hardly wait to see the Theatre of the Muses open, the Muses surviving and the world saved, it is sad to say goodbye to these strong women and their Guardians. BUT what an explosive finale Song of the Soul gives us!
Trinity and Mikolas Leandros have a “enemies to lovers” story that makes the ending book so exciting even with Kronos on the loose. I especially liked the sort of spy or double agent element in the story. Trinity and the other muses must work with Mikolas to save the world, but as they do Mikolas and Trinity also must work through trust issues and Guardian protection issues before they can claim the love that they deserve. The ending was not exactly how I predicted, which always makes for an interesting read. In this case, an amazing one.
I highly recommend this unique series. I also suggest the books be read in order.
The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I loved this final book of the Muse Chronicles. Lisa brought the story of Zeus’s daughters to life in this series. I so enjoyed the different muses and their guardians, and how each generation, had the pairings, but this generation was the one to bring the prophecy to fruition.
Trinity and Mikolas didn’t seem to be destined as the last paired Muse and Guardian, but fate, and a little help from the Gods, pushed these two into what becomes a very strong and inspiring couple.
Mikolas was raised as a guardian and brought up believing in the Gods and his destiny. He did not present well to the Muses at first and definitely did not make a good impression on the other guardians. But, with his knowledge of Greek history, he is a very valuable asset, if they can trust him. I love how this dynamic played out in this last book.
Trinity wasn’t introduced to her destiny until much later in life. But once she met her sisters, all of her dreams started making sense. It’s going to take a lot for them all to trust Mikolas, but they have to complete their theatre and they all need each other to help make the planet a better place.
Time has come for the show down. Father against son or muse/guardians? This time it will be for keeps and of course to save the world. Everything they have worked for is now happening, the grand opening is almost here. Trinity is gun shy after everything that happened with Ted and now her muse is the one who tried to kill them. They will all have to find a way to forgive and move on since they have to work together. Mikolas thought his muse was dead but finds out Trinity is his muse. He will have to get her and the rest of the group to trust him if he can ever figure out what his gift is. Man this author really wraps this series up nicely with plenty of excitement and intriguing action and don't forget the twist (I don't think she can write a book without them, but then we don't want her to either). I hate to say goodbye to these fair ladies and gents but damn if this isn't the perfect way for it to happen. Just awesome.
This is the final book in the Muse Chronicles series and I highly recommend reading them in order, even though each book has its own ending.
In Song of the Soul we get Trinity's story - she is the Muse of Music - and the last of the Muse 'sisters' to be without a Guardian. Mikolos Leandros knows he was tagged as a Guardian, but thought his muse was lost to him until his Mark came to life when Trinity was in danger.
With Kronos and his brother on the loose and determined to bring an end to humanity, it will come down to Mikolos, Trinity and the rest of the Muses and their Guardians to save humanity.
Trinity is the modern incarnation of the Muse of Music, one of the 9 daughters of Zeus born to inspire mankind. She and her 6 remaining sisters are just weeks away from opening their theater meant to inspire people world-wide. Mikolas is her destined Guardian. While infiltrating the Order from the inside, Mikolas must convince Trinity, her Muse sisters and their Guardians that he’s really on their side and Kronos is determined to destroy mankind. This was a pretty good book. I’ve read most of the books in the series, although I missed the last one. It was a quick read and probably my only complaint was the quickness of Trinity’s and Mikolas’s feelings. I know it’s to be predestined but for some reason, it bugged me a little. Overall though, a good read in a great series. I highly recommend. **I voluntarily read and reviewed this book
Spectacularly amazing! This book brought me to tears several times while reading it. I adored every book in this series. I am so sorry to get to the final book because that means that I won't have any more Muse stories to look forward to, but it ended with a bang. Trinity doesn't want to fall in love, trust a man and be hurt again. So when Mikalos steps in as her guardian, she pushes him away. Can these two work together to save the world from Kronos? Will Trinity be able to love again? I wholeheartedly recommend this entire series! This author is magnificent.
So happy to finally have Trinity's story! When Mikalos does something to honor Nia, what is it and what happens? Wow! This book was incredible! Not only did we get to the day the theater is supposed to open, but there is more action than that going on. We see some of the best things about humanity in this story> We see love, hope, self-sacrifice, self-worth, family (both blood and chosen), and so much more! You really need to read these books in order, from beginning to end. For me, tissues were necessary as I read this story. Enjoy the experience of reading this one!
RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIR/HONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin' With M. Brennan.
In a year where I’ve read very little, it speaks volumes that I’ve read – nay, devoured the Muse Chronicle series, including the satisfying conclusion, Song of the Soul. Trinity and Mikolas’ destinies were alluded to in a previous book, but the details of how these two come together as partners was still very thrilling to read. I enjoy this series because while there’s the overall plot regarding the muses and the dangers they face, we are still treated to the burgeoning relationships and the personal problems each couple overcome. While I’m sad this series is over, the author has many more stories completed and on the horizon, and I look forward to reading these in the future.
I just had to open up this one but knew it would also be a bit of torture since it is the last one. Really good series that captures you at every turn with characters that leapt out of the pages. Mikolas and Trinity will be the main attention grabbers here with others though too. Already on edge this author will give us her all with this one. The best thing of all with the most power I do believe comes to the forefront. She will wrap us up in this one as she finishes it with the drama fitting for it. It will also cause our blood pressure to go up as we race with them. This author knows how to deliver a world full of what a reader craves when picking up a story.
This was a wonderful way to wrap up the series and the way that it ended I believe truly captures the spirit of the Muses in mythology and how they are represented in this series. I enjoyed reading and feeling the connections between the Muses and their Guardians and how well they fit each other. I’m sad that the series has come to an end, but this series will always be a go to for one of my favorite depictions of the muses and a modern take on mythology.
I can’t believe this is the end. Great conclusion to a great series. Mikolas was one of my favorite guardians. I loved how they all came together in the end and how the other guardians and muses came to accept Mikolas even though his beginning was pretty bad. Can’t wait to see what comes next from this author.
I am sad to see this series come to an end. How cool would it be to be a muse and have a hunky guardian. The relationship between Mikolas and Trinity, the muse of song seems doomed before it starts. All of the muses and their guardians believes Mikolas is the enemy. But turns out he has always been looking out for them. They will need to trust him if they are going to stop humanity from being extinguished. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
It has taken me days to write this review because I knew once I did this series would truly be over. Sigh. This story was exciting with intense confrontations between good and evil along with the final and best love story.
This book is a stand-alone but reading the series in order would enhance your reading pleasure.
I love this series. Sadly this is the last book and definitely is a must read. Trinity will come to trust and love the one person she thought to be her enemy. The muses and their guardians will fight to save all from Kronos.
Song of the Soul is the culmination of the Muses story. All of the surviving muses have found their Guardians but Trinity the Muse of Music. When she finds out that Mikolas is her Guardian she figures the Fates are out to get her. First Ted and now Mikolas both part of the organization that is out to destroy the Muses and their Theater of inspiration. But all things are not as they seem and watching the truth come to light is as much fun as watching the Muses and their Guardians take on the Titans. This is a sweet, sometimes sad but truly lovely story of love and redemption. A wonderful end to the series.
Trinity may carry the embodiment of the Muse of Music in her soul, but her love life hit a sour note, and she's not looking for a repeat performance. Now, The Fates are surely channeling Loki if they've made Mikolas Leandros her Guardian. Granted, he's easy on the eyes, built like a Greek God, and makes her heart strings hum. Trin has sworn off love and its entrapments. But her sisters and their Guardians will have to join forces once again to save themselves and humanity. As the Muses try to complete their theater for the Grand opening, heat and lust rise between Trin and Mikolas. Maybe its Fate, maybe it's the knowledge of impending danger. Maybe he was always meant to be a part of her soul.
Lisa Kessler has brought The Muse Chronicles to a close with a great finale. Once again Lisa draws the reader in and makes you anticipate what happens next.
This book brings the series to a close in spectacular fashion. It's full of emotion. Not only did I get my hero/heroine book HEA, but it goes beyond and expands on the characters from each of the other books in the series. Great series. They don't have to be read in order, but definitely do not read book 7 before the others.
