Harry-freaking-Prince. He’s my arrogant, demanding, sexy-as-sin boss. A six-foot giant who micromanages his lattes. If he asks me to redo his coffee one more time, I’ll throw it in his face.
Prince is a pain in my you-know-what—but that’s wishful thinking. There’s no way he’s into me, except he won’t let me out of his sight. Before long, Prince makes his intentions clear with a kiss.
He wants to blur the lines between work and play, but it has to stay a secret.
In exchange for my silence, I’ll get a new apartment, a rack full of designer suits, date nights at swanky restaurants, anything I want. Anything except for what I need. A real relationship with him.
I promised him I would keep it quiet. I promised myself I wouldn’t fall in love.
Honestly, I am not even sure what the main point of this story was. There was so much going on:
-The growing relationship between the MCs (which is not done very well) -Harry's neglectful relationship with his daughter (girl just wants her dad's attention) -The construction of Harry's new company -Harry's old lover/ business partner messing with him/blackmailing him -Harry and his family being watched -Harry suffering form PTSD (which really falls off after it is mentioned) -Harry's ex-wife wanting custody of their daughter -Dom/sub aspects
What was this story about? For me there was no main plot just a bunch of subplots. If this was suppose to be a love story with more, I think it got lost along the way. I can see the ideas were there but they were not fleshed out.
The story begins with Ash and Harry meeting, for the first time, after Ash is found breaking into the newly purchased property of Harry's. Instead of calling the cops Harry offers him a job. The relationship builds from there but not really. Sure they interact but there is no chemistry or build up and with everything else going on in the story it takes a back seat. The relationship becomes more more told than showed in this book. So when the I love you comes out it's a bit surprising. It is also a bit surprising when suddenly their relationship goes from sex, to dominating sex with no protection. I guess sub/dom aspect was trying to get thrown in too. It didn't work. For a book called Mister Cinderella you would expect some kind of fairy tale aspect, not here. There was a plethora of things going on that just made the book too busy for me.
In short, there was a lot going on. Yet, nothing really happening. I would say overall, it wasn't for me.
Not a Cinderella Tale...More of a Corporate Love Story!
A bit of blackmail, saving some art-deco murals and a bit of BDSM are some components in the Ash & Harry love story. I’m not sure the title for this ebook really applies. Maybe we could cast Rex as the mean stepmother (not). Anywho, this is a somewhat interesting read but not quite plausible.
Ok so I read Mister Bridesmaid first before this and while I thoroughly enjoyed that, I gotta say I loved this one even more. I loved the story and absolutely adored both Harry and Ash. Even though technically these books are stand-alones, I can’t wait to see which brother’s story we get next as both Julian and Ash’s books have been a delight. 😊
P.S. Both of these books haven’t gotten the most stellar of reviews and I have to admit that almost put me off on reading them. But I’m sooo glad I gave them a chance because I absolutely loved & enjoyed them immensely. 😌
Well, I'll not sugar coating my review just because I got the privileged reading the ARC given by the author for the exchange of honest and unbiased reviews.
So, I'll be straight forward with my review.
I have this huge expectations that it gonna be such a sweet 'Pretty Woman-Cinderella' like story, but turned out it's not!
The premise of the story at the very beginning was really good and intriguing. But as I dig the story more deeper I found that it's not like what I expected.
The lack of emotional connections between the two MC's still continue until nearly end of the book. There's no specific nor further explanation about Harry 'behavior' except constants lust, alpha dominating and blurred PTSD.
Speaking about the chemistry... Chemistry between the characters supposed to be feel, not to tell. And in this case...I didn't feel it...
It turned me complete down at 49% reading when Harry suddenly 'punished' Ash by spanking him in the office trailer that caught me off guard because I didn't expected any BDSM things even if it's just light one.
The conflicts a bit blurred and out of focus when it came into Harry's ex-work partner/lover, Rex. And how they solved it make me can't stand not to rolls my eyes.
It hard for me to say whether I like or dislike the book. I wish I could say that the book was 'that' good, but I can't. I wish I could say that the book was not 'that' good, but again I just can't. Because I must admit that honestly there's some part that I do really like about what happens in the story, but I just can't denied that there's also some part that I feel it didn't work for me.
Last but not least, I think the blurb kinda 'misleading' a bit, and that's why I felt kind disappointed.

This is Oliver’s debut novel and what a great introduction into the M/M world it is. Ashley and Harry are fantastic characters that are polar opposites so definitely delivering on the opposites attract trope. They were extremely good together and Oliver perfectly caught the chemistry between them. I loved the drama that ensued with Harry’s scheming ex business partner and lover, Rex. It helped the novel move along as well as entrust Ashley and Harry have their moments together. There were a few errors here and there that could certainly be explained down to typos but it didn’t take away from the overall read.
My only critique is that Harry’s daughter is called Virginia but wants to be called Ginny and Harry’s thought is that he hates that his ex-wife called her after a Harry Potter character in the first place without adopting the nickname confused me. Did he mean Virginia or Ginny because Ginny’s real name in the HP books is Ginevra. As well as when said daughter was being sassy the characters would “ignore her Sally”. So Sally was a mood and I didn’t understand the term. I didn’t know if this term is dialect from where Oliver’s from or a new term but I didn’t get it.
As said though, I did thoroughly enjoy this novel and as much as my critiques did stop in my tracks a little as I tried to work them out they did not take away from the enjoyment of the novel as a whole. So well done to Oliver and I can’t wait to see what she writes next!
A light read. I enjoyed it but it felt like there was so much going on. I really didn’t understand why there was a plot twist with Rex. It didn’t add much to the story and after all the build up I expected a better reason for his actions. I liked Harry. He had integrity and he cared about the people around him. I didn’t feel like I got to know Ash very well. That was also a problem for me. I didn’t feel that super chemistry between them.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
I really liked this story. Ash is just trying to make it as an artist and try to make sure that some architectural art is preserved when Harry catches him looking around his construction site. Harry isn’t sure what is it about Ash but he feels pulled to him and for the first time really starts to open up to another person.
It didn’t seem to me there was too much of hiding their relationship, more along the lines of just not advertising it. I loved seeing that once Harry opens himself up to the prospect of his life with someone else he really seemed all in even if circumstance put them together a little faster than normal. His presence in Ash’s life really gives Ash the chance to explore his art more and in a different concept than before. I think Ash helped Harry to see the importance of the little things and put his past behind him for real. I loved Virginia and all that teenage attitude but she was a great addition to the story and it wouldn’t have been the same without her. The only reason the book didn’t get 5 stars was because there were more than a few times when the wrong word was in place of another.
ミスターシンデレラ…、who? or how? When?
This book needs a different title. It's an enemy-to-Daddy story, with a lot of business shark drama. Personally, I'd go with "Mister Velociraptor," borrowing from the Jurassic Park references :-)
For 2 reasons: the storyline is way too similar to Mister Bridesmaid, which I just read, so no thank you. Two, they have a D/s dynamic I wasn't expecting, and that's not really my fave genre. I think I'll pass on this one
An MM Romance character with an ex-wife and a child by his ex-wife... how original. You would think that MM romance would favor homosexual elements over heterosexual elements, but you'd be very, very wrong.
Oh, but Harry didn't realize he was gay until after he married and divorced his wife! All those years watching the cheerleaders and not the football team... all those years in the locker room completely ignoring the half or fully naked men all around him... never had a problem with that! Please, spare me this malarkey.
The plot delivered something exciting but the story did not hold up to it. We didn't get any secret relationship - Harry didn't keep him as a secret instead he came out to this daughter and moved Ash with him when needed. I was waiting for some drama, angst, and tension - the sexual kind. But I got nothing, even Ash's photography wasn't truly developed or taken as important but as a way to get them together.
DNF @50% i honestly dont even know what is going on with this story. it is all over the place! both characters have the same exact voice so if it was not for the title of "ash" or "harry" every few paragraphs, i would have had no idea who was speaking. they switch in the middle of scenes too! it's just a huge mess and even making it to 50% is a surprise because i really cant explain why i kept reading. i remembered i had almost anything else to do though and was able to quit.
I just finished reading Mister Cinderella. I'm sad. Usually when I'm sad when a book ends it means good. Not this time.
It was an overall nice readong experience, but there were a few things not quite to my liking.
The characters are so full of potential, that I feel sorry for them turning out the was they did. Their story their romance seemed to be some faint background for the still oh-so-trendy DOM/sub thing going on.
Here on the review MAY CONTAIN SOME SPOILERS.
What I missed: 1) Development in their relationship. It felt like none of them really cared what the other made of their status, falling in love was like 'oh by the way I love you so we are now an item and you should start planning out the wedding because you are mine anyway DOT'.
2) Developement in Ash's views and beliefs. I don't want to believe that he just went -100 to a boiling 100 within a few weeks. He may have done so, but hell if I see how, except what Ash himself said: he will be so biased because all he can think of now is Harry's huge...
3) Ash's past. It was mentioned MULTIPLE TIMES that he had some bad experience in the past with alpha males and dominants ego-balloons. Well, you don't just casually mention these things without EVER doing anything with them. Giving it at least some story time would have been nice.
4) Virginia. Oh girl, she's so cute, but I don't really see her true character. She’s 14 years old, has a Dora the adventurer backpack, needs lot's of his dad's attention, independant, confusee, insightful, junk food lover, full of energy full of sass teenage girl with some secret agent like skills. She also calls Ash uncle which is... simply weird.
5) Buying Ash some street clothes. Like came on! He had two jeans and just as much sweatshirt and a million years old hoodie. Not essential part for the story, but I was sad he didn't end up with new clothes.
What I liked: 1) The threats. Rex was a douche. His character was poor and pitiful, but he was creative with his harassment. 2) L -don't-ask-me-to-remember-her-name. She had a lot of potential, but got no chance to shine, not even as a best friend. 3) Some things they did in bed -or public- was hot. Some didn't, but mostly becase I felt they were vaguely put there, not all the things were equally worked out.
I liked the story, and both of the main characters. But I feel as if we didn't get a close enough look at them.
We don't get enough insight into either of the MC's past or their feelings. Things progress with sudden leaps, that come out of nowhere. One minute they're adversaries, the next they're kissing and jumping into a relationship with only a bare minimum of words or declarations exchanged. How do they even know where they stand with each other? And with what little they know, how can they fall in love?
If we could have had more insight into Ash's family and his youth, or in Harry's PTSD or his experiences as a single father running a succesfull business, that would have really helped to create emotional involvement with these characters. And it would have added tension and interest in the story. Harry's daughter, Virginia, is a great character and a lot of fun to read about. She was written really well.
Ash starts out as a fiery cruisader, though not as well-informed as he ought to be, using his art to make the world a better place. As soon as Harry offers him a job though, I feel he loses some of his credibility because he lets Harry pay his way more than I feel he ought. Also, he becomes an artist/personal assistant and the ease with which he takes on the PA-part of his new job doesn't seem to match well with his artist nature (to me).
The sex scenes are hot, but I felt the physical side of their relationship didn't progress in sync with what the reader knows of the MC's feelings toward each other (it felt rushed to me) and I feel the references to bdsm are almost more of a gimmick than true to these characters.
A bit more internal dialogue as well as meaningful conversations between the MC's would have really helped to make this book better. Now I had to read between the lines too much.
The title is a bit misleading, because apart from the obvious difference in money and status between these MC's, there's not much else of a similarity with the Cinderella trope.
Overall, it was a fun read. I look forward to reading more by this author.
My first read by Ivy Oliver but it won't be my last. Ash is a photographer with a blog and he wants to show what's happening with the destruction of a local building. Being discovered by the owner, however, was not quite in his plans. Neither was what follows with a job offer, attraction and possibly more. Harry is building a new business after the disaster that his last one turned into with his ex-partner, Rex. Finding Ash snooping, he assumes Rex has sent a spy and drags him to the office. What he finds is an attractive man taking beautiful, and slightly illegal, photos. When he cannot get Ash out of his mind he goes to his exhibition and offers a job. Growing closer with a possible spy lurking around, a 15 year old daughter and a protective friend in the mix leads to a bumpy ride whilst a relationship of sorts develops. I really enjoyed the tension and growing relationship between Ash and Harry. Both are well written and we get the story from both POV's which I like. There were parts that could have become more - Harry's army experience and resulting PTSD - and the kink that lies between the two. We experience Harry's dom side through most things in his life; organisation, wardrobe, coffee order etc, but not so much with the bedroom side which I think could have kicked it up another notch. What is there is hot between them and you can feel the attraction from both characters. We get information about both MC's history though not so much with Ash to know why he ended up living in a warehouse with other artists, the fallout from his family etc. There are some great secondary characters. I love Virginia, Harry's daughter. Seeming too old but also showing her softer side at times, her snark is perfect and it's clear she loves her dad. Rex is great as a bad guy we don't really get to meet but what we are told about him gives enough of an impression of him. Though things are wrapped up quite quickly, I did enjoy the way it was handled at the end. I enjoyed reading this book and would definitely recommend it. I'll look for future books from Ivy Oliver. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review
I sat out on reviewing this for a day or two after finishing, because I'm not sure how I feel about it. And I'm still a bit up in the air in some areas.
To start, though I mostly liked him, Ashley's righteousness seemed a bit over the top - but I guess that might be more me. I'm a "the world is a riot of shades of gray" kind of person and Ashley's black and white worldview helped make him seem so young and untried to me -- which might be what Oliver was going for. See? Conflicted.
I liked Harry's take charge attitude. It must have been hard won. Admittedly, though I'm in his camp, I have no idea how it took him so long to see what Rex was. At least the realization he'd allowed himself to hide away and, ostensibly, let Rex do all the horrendous shit he did, made Harry grow up.
The blurb made it sound like Harry was hiding himself and Ash and how they felt, but, to me, he wasn't written that way. Anyone who saw him and Ash interacting at that first gallery showing would have seen the steam coming off them from a mile away. So, no matter any dissembling, that so wasn't flying.
When Rex's "hijinks" got really going, though, the book lost some power for me. And, near the end, I was so glad that bit was handled. I am, quite simply, over the "boss fight" at the end of the book/movie/game.
Virginia was written to be the cool if irritating daughter and I liked her. Leticia should have been present more; to me, she kind of vanished from the latter half of the book and shouldn't have. So, the "side characters" needed a little more work.
Was "Mister Cinderella" worth the time and effort to read? Definitely. I enjoyed the characters and their interaction, even if they were occasionally inconsistent. Will I read more Ivy Oliver works? Definitely. Will I re-read this book later? Possibly. Will I remember it forever? Possibly not. But, as a debut work, it is work worth being proud of and a decent place to start. Brava! Encore.
I was given the ARC of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
3-3.5 stars I am struggling writing this review as I have mixed feelings about this book. There were things I liked, but just as much I didn’t. The writing is above par. No doubt about that. It started great, and I was sitting in anticipation of reading a good enemies-to-lovers story. But sadly, it didn’t meet my expectations. The most important thing for me was that I didn’t get a good grip on the main characters. What made them tick. I didn’t connect to Ash and Harry. I felt there was much more to them, but now they stayed underdeveloped and didn’t grow. Therefore I also had a hard time following their relationship. It came with leaps and bounds, and I didn’t really felt the connection between these two men. The sex scenes, although not plenty, were hot on their own. There were some hints of BDSM elements, but as a good BDSM relationship needs trust and a real connection I, again, felt something missing here. The story could benefit from more character development, fleshing out situations, and more communication between the two men about their feelings. Virginia, Harry’s fourteen-year-old daughter, is written very well though. She is just like a surly teenager should be. Sometimes too old for her age, and then a little girl. There is a bit of suspense coming from Harry’s stalking ex-boyfriend and business partner. Overall I enjoyed this book, and I will look for the next book by this author as I think she has a lot of potential.
I’m not sure I loved 90% of this story but there was the 10% I didn’t like.
I loved the relationship between Harry and his daughter Virginia. She was a sparky little thing and she brought a lot to the story. I liked Harry and his back story he stuffers with a little PTSD but it’s not a major thing. He is dominant and likes to be in control.
The sex was hot there wasn’t a lot but what was there was really good and you could feel the chemistry between the two. There is slight hint of BDSM but it’s not a major thing.
Now Ash I wasn’t so found of. He was all I’m an urban photographer and I’m against the man ect. He won’t bend to the will of any one but the moment Harry bats his eyes at him he falls for him. I kind of felt he lost himself a bit. I would have liked to see him spar more with Harry but I still enjoyed their connection even if a bit quick.
I found it a bit predictable with Harry’s ex but he did bring some tension to the story. It’s my first novel from this author and I’ll keep an eye out for her in future.
I received a copy of this in exchange for an honest review.
Really 3.5 stars for me, but I’ll round up. The blurb was intriguing, and this story had so much potential. And while it was a good enough story, it fell just a little short for me. At the start, Ash isn’t going to give into the “man”. But I felt like he gave into Harry awfully fast. It felt like he sold out, which makes him feel like a wishy-washy character. And out of nowhere came the BSDM part of Harry needing to dominate but there was no real hint that Ash was a sub. In some ways, I never connected with either character because I never got a real feel for who they were.
Some of the best parts of the book, were the relationship between Harry and his daughter. Virginia is such a typical teen. And the banter between them was full of snark. And I loved the element of a stalker, with the suspense of who and why. I do think this element of the story could had been expanded. Overall, it was an enjoyable story, it just could have been so much more. This author has a great deal of potential in my mind. So I will look for other stories from her in the future.
Mister Cinderella is a fast-paced romance by author Ivy Oliver. I loved this story. Just made me smile and cheer for the characters all the way through. Ash his prize possession is a camera. He is an urban photographer blogger. He also does art shows. He gets caught in his latest venture. But it might just turn out to be a lucky break for him. Harry owns the building that Ash is photographing. He has not come out of the closet yet, but he is drawn to Ash. He has an ex and a daughter. Ash is a really angry character who has his heart in the right place. Harry is a well to do man with a huge heart of his own. And the guts to pursue love even if it comes in a form he did not expect. This is a solid story, well told and well-rounded characters. Kept me turning the pages and wanting more. I would after reading this search out more from this author in the future and see who else falls in love.
This is a great story with enough twists and turns to keep me engaged until the end. It is well-written and fast-paced with interesting characters. Harry and Ash are from similar backgrounds but they end up in very different circumstances. They are unable to ignore the incredible pull they feel towards each other and give in to it very quickly. Their relationship moves forward at a dizzying speed until they have to deal with threats from Harry's ex business partner. I wish that the pace was slower and that there is more interaction between Harry and Ash. More background information on both of them would add more depth to their characters as well. I love Harry's daughter and his relationship with her. The ending is great and I look forward to reading more books by this author. I was given an ARC to review.
An interesting book the writing was okay. I really wanted to like this book but, the way it was written lacks what potential it had to be great. Some people might like it, but it didn’t work for me. I wasn’t total sure what the plot was but, what I assume it to be was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters likeable. I liked Ash, but I did have some problems with Harry. Some of his actions I had a hard time with because there was no talking between him and Ash about the events. The characters needed to be more developed. I wanted more background and info. on Ash and Harry who were the MC’s of this book. There was humor, a daughter, photography, a blog, artists, remodeling, a gallery, blackmail, a nasty ex and more in this book. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.
*I voluntarily read this book. All opinion stated are solely my own and no one else's*
3-3.5 stars
I’m struggling to write this review because I liked some things but felt other parts needed more developing.
The beginning when Ash and Harry met was amusing and I’d be lying if I said it didn’t make my heart race. The desire and lust burning between the two was intense yet hot. Their chemistry was explosive and I liked Harry’s dom persona too. I couldn’t stop laughing when Ash got some sort of banana coffee for Harry lol - sounds gross! I’m surprised Harry didn’t spit it!
For me, both MCs were two dimensional. Harry for example, suffered from PTSD which was merely touched upon. A little more character development would have gained a higher rating.
Ash and Harry’s relationship developed far too quickly - I felt like all the good bits were being rushed or overlooked. They didn’t really get to know each other before Harry was bringing his daughter into the mix. I wanted a deeper emotional connection between the two but felt like I got more of a surface level instead.
The plot was ok but predictable.
Overall, the story was good and I enjoyed it. There was an element of sub/dom with some discipline spanking/belting.
I have very mixed feelings about this book. I enjoyed the story but it wasn't at all what the teaser said it would be.
The characters weren't as well developed as they should have been yet I really liked what we were given. Ash, Harry, Virginia and even L had great beginnings as characters but that's all we got--a beginning.
There was way too much going on with the plot, way too many side stories that had us going all over the place. It would have been stronger if the focus had been on just one of the many plots-eg just on Rex's attempts at harassment.
Overall, even though I was disappointed with much of the book, there was a lot I also liked. I'll give Ivy Oliver another chance.
A new author for me and I really like the writing style. Harry Prince and Ash make a good couple and Harry's daughter Virginia was funny and endearing. Harry is your typical business mogul and Ash is a struggling artist who ends up working for Harry. His first instinct is to expose Harry for who he really is. Harry is just misguided in his quest for a new HQ for his company. Ash starts out with a love/hate thing for Harry but that changes over time of course. I was a little disappointed that such an independent man could succumb to all Harry's wealth without much protest. Good story and will definitely look out for more from this author in the future.
From the blurb, this book was not what I expected. The blurb actually starts more in the first third of the book rather than at the beginning. That is fine but it wasn't what I was anticipating. At first I really didn't care for Ash. He is young and acted it. I liked his character better as the book went on but I also think it changed him. He was much more mature than what his character started out like. There is a lot to this book that could have been taken in so many different directions. I think there could have been a lot more with Harry's flashbacks and was kind of disappointed there wasn't. All in all, a good book for a debut.
I had a couple problems with this book. First, the book's blurb doesn't match the book well, and the title doesn't make any sense. Second, the relationship went from 0 to 100 mph in days, as in they just met, were instantly attracted to each other despite having negative assumptions about each other, and then before I knew it, they were in bed together and in a D/s relationship with barely any discussion about it. After that, I was almost expecting the sudden, too fast declaration of love. Third, neither character was developed too well, and there were so many plot threads flying around that it made the story awkward and a bit confusing.
Two people from different backgrounds. A purely sexual relationship turns into more. A former lover set out to destroy everything. Blackmail. Add in some hot sex scenes (with some light BDSM) And some fun banter with a teenager daughter.
I definitely enjoyed this book. Parts of it were a little weaker than I would have preferred. The characters could have used some more background. The BDSM scenes didn’t seem to be true to the nature of trust with BDSM.
But overall I did enjoy it a lot and I look forward to reading more from this author.
There are a lot of adjectives in this book. More than anyone needs. A clever description is nice but not every line needs to be that way. It makes it annoying to read. The characters are very typical, one guy is brooding but you know he’ll end up being the most compassionate person ever born and the other one has a cause they fight for. There’s sexual tension in stupid places and neither one can forget the other after meeting for 5 minutes. It’s just such an old troupe I was bored before it even got going.
