I had a very loopy experience when I first began reading this...because I may not be a secret sorceress, but I translate from Japanese and Russian, speak nerd, and work in gaming (and there was some other similarity I forgot by now), and for a while there I was all 'Um... Hi, Ms Bellet, do we know each other?' ... But then of course I reached the point where the main character says she speaks all languages, and calmed down.
I think a lot of people who read this would draw some parallels with

This is an amazing story with well-written characters. It's like a mix of the best parts of Buffy and Grimm, with hints of the Magic ex Libris series sprinkled throughout. As engaging as the plot and characters are, the geek puns may be even more entertaining -- and unlike the oft-obscure ones in books like Ready Player One, most readers will have a ton of Captain America moments here ("I got that reference!").

I'm definitely looking forward to Volume Two!

I really enjoyed the world building and different magical elements/powers of the different characters. My only concern is that the separate books inside the main volume are starting to have a "villain of the week" feel to them and it can start to get a bit repetitive. It might not be an issue, but with another book with 3 books inside, it could be a lot of effort before the main payoff. But the writing and characters are cool, so I'll stick it out until the end.

Really like all the pop culture references, even though I don't get all of the gamer ones, as I am not a gamer. Love the characters, and how the first book gets right into the action, and keeps it up throughout.

This was a great book that dealt with paranormal struggles. Struggle for happiness. struggle to live, and struggle to fight.
