Sybil was age 16 when she also rode through the night to warn the men of her father’s regiment to gather to fight off the British. This was a couple of years later after Paul Revere’s ride. She did it successfully then lived a long full life, telling the story of her ride to her own kids and grandkids. This book was written in the 1980s but is getting more interest due to more focus on what women and POC can do and have done. Hopefully someone writes of Sybil Luddington again in a more up to date way. The book got 4 stars more for being one of the few titles out there on her, than because of its excellence. Librarians need to hang on to this title for now!

Except for the habitual "slam" on the nature of women's work which begins almost every children's book featuring a female protagonist, this is a great story.
