Waking The Dead is a heart-pumping, exciting read that gives a new look at necromancers. I loved this magical world we were thrown into! PNR is my first love, so I usually devour many of them! I liked Amber Garr's take on Paranormal and I loved the world she built. Zombies freak anyone out, but for Cressa it's life. She's a necromancer who is trying to save her mom, in a world she isn't allowed to practice in. When she meets the alluring Noah, it seems more mysteries surround her than ever ...more

Amber Garr had me turning the pages and up all night with "Waking the Dead". I really enjoyed her take on the supernatural world. A Fast paced, intriguing plot, with just the right amount of angst and romance that will keep you turning the pages begging for more. I found myself easily connecting with the main character Cressa, she was determined, strong willed, and stubborn, but also at times she was a little naive and innocent which added depth to the character. Noah, the love interest was ...more

Lately I have been hesitant to accept review requests or book tour reviews from unknown (to me) authors. I am glad I chose to review Waking the Dead! This is a fast paced, edge of your seat adventure in a world of magic, magical creatures and harsh punishment for magic lawbreakers. Our main girl, Cressa, is a necromancer. She’s trying to raise enough money to pay the bond to get her mom out of magic prison. Then into her life comes the gorgeous Noah. He isn’t human, but Cressa can’t tell exactly ...more

Loved it! 4.5 stars I love a great supernatural story and this is one. The author does an excellent job of creating a wonderful alternate reality where humans and supernaturals co-exist in uneasy harmony. An exciting well written storyline with a plethora of supernatural beings. Loved the Imp! The story grab me from the start and took me on an adventurous ride. It had suspense, mystery, family drama, romance, an evil supernatural organization and hunky heroes abound. At the heart of the story is ...more

Tessa had no idea who she could trust so when hunk of love Noah shows up in the midst of her life spinning out of control she can’t understand how he becomes so important to her in such a short time. But that’s not it. Action and intrigue surround Tessa and her brother. She still isn’t sure about him either. As her life changes with her new friends and secrets come out she learns nothing is as it seems and that may not be a bad thing. Learning more about her powers but staying off the radar is ...more

A fantastic adventure full of mystery, adventure, drama, romance and so much more. Cressa is a necromancer who’s trying to get enough money to get her mother out of magic prison. Noah comes into her life wanting to help Cressa get the money she needs but Noah has secrets of his own, the work is dangerous and it’s against magical law so will Cressa do the work that’s needed or will she find another way?. I loved this story wonderful characters and great world building it’s just an amazing story. ...more

OMG I don't even know where to start!! Let me start with if I could of give this book all the stars i would. This is the first book I've read by Amber Garr but it will not be the last. This story has just enough of everything a brooding but lovable Noah who I wanted to hug kiss and punch in the face lol. The main female Cressa was just the right amount of sass and vulnerability to make me root hard for her! But the character who has all my love is Rome noahs buddy. He's mister sassy pants and I ...more

Great read!

Amber has another hit on her hands! I love her characters and story lines. None are like the others. Cressa comes from a line of magic users. Spefically a necromancer, Cressa has been banned by the Imperium from, usong her powers. Enter Noah, a mysterious and handsome man, unlike anyone Cressa has met before. He wants to help her release her mother from the Imperium prison. The events that unfold will keep you reading until the end. I cannot wait for Amber's next book!

Tons of action, romance and then it ended.

So when I read about this book, I did not realize that this was going to turn into a romance. Tons of action throughout which kept me reading, but it just didn't go together well. Also I expected Cressa character to become more powerful, to really see what she could do. Romance to Noah happened too fast and didn't give me any warm and fuzzies. Book is not for everyone, but if you want a quick read this isn't bad.

This is a story filled with plenty of twist and turns. Cressa is a powerful necromancer put in a difficult situation. The character was presented in a way that let the reader care and respect her in what she was trying to accomplish. Even the secondary characters were developed well and did their part in keeping the story line exciting and moving at a good pace.

This book is definitely worth reading and I look forward to more to come in Book 2!

Loved it. Just the right amount of suspense, excitement, fun, emotional, intrigue and so much more. Very well written and definitely attention catching. A very different world and the way things work and what you have to try to hide to be safe used to be ok. She is a tough, gifted woman who knows what she wants. He is there to help but has secrets of his own. I recommend it. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.

Waking The Dead by Amber Garr was an incredible read!

I'm not much for fantasy novels, and I don't usually read a lot of it, either. It's not what I usually pick to read, but I thoroughly enjoyed the story; I simply could not get enough of it!

The story had plenty of twist and turns, it had plenty of drama, and the fact that romance was included in the story, just makes it a bonus.

Cressa, a powerful necromancer, was independent and caring, and I loved her character so much. She was fierce and
