Emily leaves everything behind to start a new life with Vaughn. She leaves her family, her career, her identity behind to live under false identities while Vaughn continues to do jobs for Blackwing.
His next job takes them to Paris where Emily will play a very participatory role despite Vaughn’s refusal.
Her relationship is getting stronger and they even talk about a future and a family together, and the sex is getting better and hotter than ever.
Emily knows that she can’t live without him and even though she doesn’t like aspects of his job, she will do anything to help him.
But when Blackwing tries to get Emily to become an agent, Vaughn decides it’s time to retire. But nobody leaves Blackwing, also the FBI continue looking for them.
So they come up with a plan in which they hope the FBI will be the one to take care of Blackwing, but it’s risky.
This duet certainly will take you breath away, and although I liked the first book better, this second one has not disappointed.
I ❤️ Emily and Vaughn’s story, it has become one of my favorite love stories.
“That’s how I feel,” I moaned, leaning my head backward as I took another glance out the window. “Like what?” Vaughn’s teeth took my ear as he climbed behind me. “The tower.” I breathed. “It’s like I’m racing with lights when you make me come.” He chuckled. “You know we could get very dirty with Eiffel Tower jokes right now, but I’d rather be inside you.” He squeezed my ass roughly and I whimpered. I nodded. “Make me feel it again,” I begged. “I want the lights. I want all of it.” I was breathless and wild. “I want it too, Em.” “Your own sparkly orgasm or a tower?” I teased. I was dizzy from the orgasm and ravenous for what was coming next. I couldn’t think or talk straight. “No, I’ll have that as many times as I want tonight. I want you to be mine. Only mine.” I shivered, knowing he had every intention of proving his words. I exhaled as he threaded his fingers through mine. I could feel the foreignness of our rings as they slid on top of each other. They were a strange symbol of the mixture of truth and lies that held us together. I looked at the glittery diamond, poking out under his strong hands. Vaughn’s chest slid along my back. “I want to fuck my wife,” he growled in my ear. “There’s time,” he whispered, drawing my lips to his. “I’m not going anywhere.” My tongue twined with his. Our lips melted together. Vaughn moved on top of me, rolling me on my back. “I’m not done tonight, you know that?” I nodded eagerly. “I hope not.”

What a marvelous journey Violet Paige takes you on in this conclusion of Emily and Vaughn’s story. You are forewarned that this is the conclusion to what began in “Resist”, but I can assure you, you do not have to have read “Resist” to enjoy this book. I hadn’t, and I loved this!
Vaughn is tied up with Blackwing and on the run from the FBI. He and Emily are in Paris for Vaughn’s next Blackwing assignment, and he has vowed to keep Emily safe and out of Blackwing’s hands. Unfortunately the company has other ideas, and what Blackwing wants, Blackwing gets, but not if Vaughn has anything to say about it.
Come along on this amazing ride to discover whether Vaughn and Emily are successful in outwitting the FBI and Blackwing to reach their HEA. You won’t be sorry!
Violet Paige has written an intense, compelling, suspenseful romance. Her character development is solid, effortlessly drawing the reader into the lives of the H/h. This story is a real page turner. There’s intrigue, emotions, and HOT romance. You will find the characters strong and easy to empathize with. I highly recommend this book!

I suppose you will forever be living the rest of your story…
Paris isn’t quite the same when you’re fearing for your life.
Or for Vaughn’s.
Because you love him.
In spite of everything.
And Because of everything!
And with everything you have to give.
Oh, I’m so glad I got to read the rest of the story that started with Resist.
I am lost for words to describe this tale. It’s amazing.
Both beautiful and ugly--
Heartrending and edgy… Bitter.
And sweet.
Bottom line: Very satisfying conclusion to this duet. 5 stars
