A fun story about a sleepy town where cops-and-robbers is played each week to keep the constables in practice. This reminded me a lot of Richard Scarry's Peasant Pig and the Terrible Dragon, especially the part with the armor.

In this book we meet the Foxbury Force, a group of fox police who keep the peace (or not) in the town of Foxbury. If you are familiar with Graham Oakley's church mice books, you will have a pretty good idea of what to expect: a group of foxes trying to bring law and order to the town of Foxbury with good intentions, chaos and much unintentional on the part of the foxes humour. While I don't like these as much as the church mice books, they still offer the combination of good humour and detailed illustrations that readers have come to love.

Set in a world where everyone is a fox rather than a human, this is the story of an affable but incompetent police force whose regular catch a burglar practice turns into the real thing. As you would expect from Oakley, the pages are filled with witty, beautiful drawings.

Suomenkieliseltä nimeltään Kettukallion poliisi ja murtovarkaat. Hurjan hauska kirja, tosi nätit kuvat täynnä hupaisia yksityiskohtia.

I enjoyed both the story and the illustrations done by the author! Great memory of reading this story with my children! There are a lot of little gems hidden in the illustrations!

I'm not sure how my mom ended up with this book, but it was probably my favorite of the picture books she read to me as a little one. I loved the pictures and the fanciful mystery. Re-reading it (I still have the same copy) remains a joy. The illustrations are very detailed and lively and match the story nicely.

If I'm perfectly honest, The Foxbury Force might just be where my love of the UK and foxes originated. It started early. Thanks, Mom.
