Silvers is continuing his trend of stability at high level plot engagement and character development through this installment, with another more introspective focus on the central protagonist, this time on more of the nature of her duality and revelations about where she came from as much as where she's going. Callie Penrose continues to impress as a hard-hitting capable protagonist, as well as a realistically torn, vulnerable woman feeling emotionally frayed and overtaxed as the story unfolds i

To me, I really saw some growth in Callie in this book. Roland is great, but her new allies and mentors are helping her see a greater picture of the world around her. Her BFF, lovingly nicknamed the bipolar bear shifter, is a constant that keeps her grounded. Her new friend, Phinx the Sphinx is a great new character and of course Darling and Dear never fail to entertain and subtlety provide clues to help Callie out. If only she could understand their double meanings.

Another awesome book by a very talented author. Callie kicks a$$. No one should question that now, if they ever did. Callie finding out about her origins was a little bit predictable, but I'm glad it's finally out there. Now, how does this relate to Nate's powers? Guess we'll have to wait and see.

What an awesome adventure! Shayne Silvers does NOT disappoint and is adept at sweeping you into Callie's escapades. This novel was her growing up / coming of age / Maturing to Nate's* level book and it left me wishing that the next book was out _NOW_ so I can see where she goes from here.
In this book her innocence is traded for a graceful maturity that is earned and embraced well, and where she was a young woman in the earlier books, lacking a certain degree of depth, she brings it all to the fo ...more

In this latest book from Shayne Silvers’ Feathers and Fire series, we follow our heroine (or sometimes anti-heroine) Callie Penrose as she goes shopping at Darling and Dear, befriends a Sphinx, and learns the story of her parents.
The magical artifact in this story is something called the Ring of Aandaleeb. It is evidently used to contain demons. The Angels and Templars are fighting over who gets to control it, and both of them want Callie on their side, thinking she can control it better than a ...more

The right glue
This is the best Callie book yet and I’m so very excited to see where the Lord of the Freaks will take us on her next adventure.
Callie’s had a rough time, lately. A knockdown drag out fight with the Vatican has left her jobless, her God loving mentor is now a master vampire and the sacred order of the Templar Knights wants her dead. On top of all that there’s something’s strange going on in Kansas City and if Callie thinks something is strange, you know it’s bad.

Silvers Delivers
When I first started reading this series, and the Temple series as well, I thought the author boxed himself into a corner after the first books (which sets the stage and introduces you to the characters nicely) by coming up with plots that seem to be built up to resemble something closer to an end of a series then the beginning. Shayne consistently brings out the big guns with each book, though, and while the plots are almost excessively grand (which is part of their charm) they ...more

Angel's Roar : Feathers and Fire Book 4
Once again a masterpiece by Shayne Silvers. I so love Callie and this story brought out both old friends and enemies as well as some new ones. I must say Sphinx is a wonderful addition. Callie can't help but run into nasty Templars, Angels, Freaks, humans and even a Fae! She continues to become a stronger woman, as each new book is written. I so enjoy reading as she shares her heart, love and concern for friends, her city and the world. She sacrifices so mu ...more

After reading this 4th installment of Feathers and Fire series through Kindle Unlimited, all I can say is Wow! Callie and Claire have come into their own as part of the supernatural heroes business. We see a few recurring characters from the Nate Temple series, and Callie handles them almost as well as he does. Then her supporting cast is getting further entrenched in her team (Dorian Gray and Kane - yes the original Kane!) We find Callie becoming more mature and sure of herself, which I truly e

THIS REVIEW STANDS FOR THE FIRST FOUR BOOKS... so yes they are the same.
A tale of a female protagonist who doesn't know who she is, working for the church and mouthy as hell. Honestly it is pretty mundane for urban fantasy (not a complaint, I am writing a book that isn't really any different either).
While filled with some cliches, and not the most fresh take it is interesting. The characters are good (I like Callie), the storyline is interesting enough. There is something extra that I can't quit ...more

Callie Penrose has returned to Kansas City. She has defeated demons (twice). She brought down corruption and backstabbing in the Vatican's Shepherds. She discovered and stood toe to toe with the leader of the elusive Templar order. Now she is home, and things are just getting harder. An angel is trying to recruit her to recover a lost artifact that could sway the power balance in the city, and may hold clues to Callie's past. The catch, the artifact is currently in the possession of her good "fr

Solid 4.5
A lot has changed while Callie was out of town but now she is back and she is going to kick some as$, not only is she ready to take back this town but Claire bear has much better control over her new self so is Callie's side kick whether she wants it or not. It was great to see characters from the Nate temple series cross over to Callies as it makes both series more solid and balanced. There is plenty of LOL, oh no you didn't, twists and surprises to keep you hooked to the end and leav ...more

Callie is back in full glory. After the shakeup in Italy, she wants to spend some quality time on her own streets in KC. Amidst the criminal uptick, she finds rumors of some group or gang that has the Freaks terrified and Callie considered persona non grata. Add an Angelic mission turning a bit sideways, and the stage is set for the usual craziness. At least she can trust in an angel's agenda. Right? Be prepared for all the action, snark, ridiculous situations, unveiling of pasts, chaos, cameos,

Omg! I did not see the twists with Beckett coming! This maybe my favorite in the series so far! I really do love each of them but I like how Callie is coming into her own. I really want to see more of Callie and Nate together they both deserve happiness and they compliment each other so well. Darling and Dears characters crack me up with there wittiness. Shayne Silver’s is one of my all time favorite authors because his books are ones you can just get lost in. Absolutely Freaking Fantastic! I ca

Master Silvers has done it again!
I had gotten a teaser, just a couple chapters, and I figured I could read that far before bed. Next thing I know my wife is telling me that it's four in the morning and "Don't you have to wake up in a couple hours?" Needless to say the book was finished a few short hours after my tasks had been.

Kills it every time!
Every time I’ve finished reading one of Shayne’s books I’m left a bit shell shocked, satisfied and yet hungry for more. And I think to myself, how is he going to match that level of WOW! in the next book? Well, he has certainly done it again! Nothing with Callie- or Nate, for that matter- is ever boring and Angel’s Roar was a feast of action, mystery, magic and some exquisite plot twists! So many answers are uncovered and new ones will take root in this remarkable and wonderf ...more

Having read the entire universe out of order, I started this book with high expectations of what I just knew would be the apex of the story. Shayne did not disappoint on the climb to that point. While there were points that were “slower” they weren’t boring and were ultimately necessary.
Callie seems to now be a fully developed character and part of that character is the mystery of her past/parentage. This outing gets us deeper into her past, while we don’t get to find out what Callie is short fo ...more

Another great read!
More and more I find myself amazed by Shane Silvers. This fourth book in the Feathers and Fire series is no exception. Although I don't care as much for the books he coauthors, Nate Temple, Callie Penrose, and their assorted friends are quickly becoming one of my favorite immersive worlds. If you like magic, adventure, humor, intrigue, mythology, fairy tales, demons, angels, gods and/or monsters, you'll enjoy these books. And if not, what the hell. I'll duel you for your copy. ...more

Callie, the half Nephilim, half whatever takes to the streets of Kansas City to do what she does best, kick some ass. As she tracks a gang that is causing havoc she runs into several other hurdles along the way. The biggest is Angel the Angel who doesn't have a name anymore except for Nameless. Yeah, have fun figuring that one out. There is a betrayal in the book, but my opinion varies from most of Silvers readers. I think Callie dropped the ball when it came to a friend. It shows that she isn't

Mind-Blowing Action and Suspense!!
Shayne Silvers artfully weaves his characters in with figures from Myth and Legend, and Literary Masterpieces, into incredible tales of Sacrifice and Triumph, Light vs Dark, staggering Loss, Hope and Despair, Feathers and Fire and Family. It is non-stop Action!
I really like the Personal Growth that happened along the way as well.

Once again Mr. Silvers demonstrates his mastery of storytelling and the genre. He wields his pen like a weapon, pulling the reader into his TempleVerse, running them through the gamet of emotions. When done, I had laughed, cried, gasped in fear, and shook from relief. New characters join old to produce a book worthy of my full attention.

The only way to explain how I read book 4 of the Feathers and Fire Series. I basically inhaled it. I started with this series on my TBR list enjoying The prequel to the Nate Temple series. I finally was able to give it a chance when I decided to become a KU (kindle unlimited) member. The series was available and pausing all my other ebooks I was reading. Even when I finished this one I'm all ready to basically once again "inhale" the next Callie Penrose book in this series. I am def ...more

Good but not usual standard
I would normally give anything In the Templeverse series a 4 or 5 but I found myself wondering if I had read ahead at least twice during this book.
Some parts were just confusing and needed further explanation as to what the hell was going on. For example, there is a sequence with Phix that left me baffled. I couldn’t make out if Silver’s was doing it as part of the plot line or if he hadn’t quite made up his mind what had happened for himself and after finishing the bo ...more

Callie goes where angels fear to tread!
Wow! Just when you think a series has reached its pinnacle, the templeverse soars to new heights. If you are not a fan of adventure twists and turns and freaks and angels; this book is not for you. But if you love seat of your pants craziness and devil may care plans, this is the book for you. Follow Callie into her latest adventure with Angels and Freaks that will keep you begging for more!

Loved it
This book didn’t disappoint. Love this author’s imagination. Keeps you on your toes. Love Callie. The humor was laugh out loud. There were all emotions going on. Really liked the crossover of characters. Also the new, and regular characters. Never saw that betrayal coming. We got some answers, but need sooo many more. Callie and Nate already, please 🙏🏻. Only thing bad about this book, have to wait for the next one:(. Good job.

“The Sphinx. “If I poke my finger through your eyes, will your jaws open wide?” she asked in a lazy purr like poured honey. I blinked. “Um, probably in sheer agony, yes.” She tsked disapprovingly, turning to Darling. He rolled his eyes. “Scissors. Everyone knows that one.”
