Incredibly Helpful
I'll admit that reading Catch-22 was a difficult read for me. I struggled with keeping it all straight because the novel is written out of sequence as a series of vignettes with actual important action being only alluded to until the very end when the story is finally told in climactic detail. Understand the many themes and symbols in the story, including the titular concept of "Catch-22" was crucial to having a deep understanding of the purpose of the novel. Sparks Notes give both chapter summaries and section analyses. At the end there is a section about memorable quotes, recurring themes, important symbols, and character descriptions. WARNING: The summary at the very beginning summarizes the entire novel. It is, by definition full of spoilers. If this is read first, the reader will know the entire plot before reading the first chapter.

Catch 22 : the book needs this guide
Easily over thirty years of trying. I appreciate the importance of the title, but the it is a difficult story to follow. I understand that is for a reason, it's part of the story. Life is difficult to make sense of, particularly war so be it. I may approach the story again but I appreciate the map.

Was interesting to read, even though i can't compare it to the book it's about yet. lol
