I read this book to do research on a historical fiction project I am working on. Until I lived and worked in Trinidad, I knew nothing about their WW II history, let alone the enormous role the U.S. played in it. For all intents and purposes, Trinidad was occupied by the Americans as they helped Great Britain mount a defense against German U-boats in the Caribbean. Kelshall's book is excellent if you have an interest in the area or in WW II.
