An accidental-friendship story packed with humor from author-illustrator Eric Barclay

Sheep is an expert at protecting sheep—or so she thinks until one happy afternoon when she bumps into a very hairy someone on the farm.

“Who are you?” she asks.

“I’m the sheep dog!” the someone says. “I watch the sheep.”

Holy begonia! Sheep knows this can’t be right. After all, she’s the pro!

I just LOVED Sheep Dog and his ability to keep a straight face in this story. Sheep is trying to "help" Sheep Dog do his job much better -- getting his hair out of his eyes, finding binoculars, bringing him a map. But at every turn, Sheep is in dire need of rescue. Sheep Dog is so patient and gentle as he saves the day without Sheep Sheep even realizing it. The pictures and dialogue will keep children giggling! The artist used pencil and Adobe Photoshop to create the illustrations for this book. ...more

Summary: Sheep is an expert at two things, dancing and watching sheep. She knows this to be true. But then one day, she meets a new friend who claims to also watch sheep. Sheep’s whole world is turned on its head when she comes to discover that maybe she’s not the expert she thought she was.

Review: Sheep Dog and Sheep Sheep is an adorable and fun read. The sheep character is so joyful and bold. I could definitely read more books with this character headlining the show. The sheep dog straight man

This book is absolutely adorable! If you just look at the illustrations on the end papers, you will have a good idea of the fun you are in for when you read it.
Sheep sometimes closes her eyes when she is happy and runs right into Sheep Dog.
Sheep notices that Sheep Dog needs some help - like a bow to tie his shaggy hair back. As she is retrieving various items, Sheep does not notice that Sheep Dog is doing his job and saving her life time after time. :)

This book is so adorable! I cant even put it into words how much we loved this one. The characters mesh so well together and the story is just funny. *Not to mention, there is what appears to be a tiny tribute to Michael Jackson in the book. LOVED IT! Dancing sheep on tippy-hooves (tippy toes) with one sparkly glove=YES, PLEASE!

Adorably ardent Sheep Dog is trying to watch over his sheep, and one particularly lively, bubbly sheep keeps trying to "help him out". Sheep doesn't even seem to acknowledge as Sheep Dog saves her life over and over again. Sheep loves dancing and skipping and all sorts of active things, so that would be fun to incorporate into a telling of this. ...more

This reminded me of books I read before and liked. But there is the issue. The story has been told before. There is nothing really new to the "child doesn't realize what adults do for them" story. However, the illustrations are fun (even if they had to go and show the "PeePee Dance.") ...more

This book is adorable - and there are lots of cool things to unpack from it. Friendship - different species, different ages, different responsibilities. Being aware of your surroundings. Protecting others. Being mindful of others' feelings.

Plus it's just plain cute - both text and illustrations!

Sheep sheep loves to dance but is always bumping into things. One day she meets sheep dog and asks what he does. When he tells her that his job is to watch the sheep she does her best to help outfit him to do just that. A fun story with absolutely fabulous illustrations! Sheep LOVES to dance and because she dances with her eyes closed she often runs into things. One day, she bumps into a Sheep Dog. When Sheep Dog explains that he is watching over the sheep, Sheep wants to help out. First, she ties his hair up out of his eyes, then he gets him a pair of binoculars so he can see the eagles and the coyotes and finally she gave him a map so he won't get lost. Meanwhile, Sheep is completely oblivious that she is in danger from an eagle, a coyote, and a broken bridge. ...more

This book caught my eye with the vintage teal truck on the front. It is a cute story about a sheep dog and the sheep he watches over. Rather than a herd, it is a lone sheep. But the faithful dog watches out for his friend just the same. As the sheep tries to explain to the dog just what sheep do, the dog intervenes multiple times to save her life. Sheep is happy-go-lucky, blissfully unaware of the dangers while Dog patiently keeps an eye out, doing his job without asking for recognition. A beaut ...more

This is a very sweet picture book about a fanciful sheep who tries to help a sheepdog be more efficient at watching sheep. It has a cute ending that promotes understanding and friendship.
