Babar and family are invited by friends to come and visit the USA. They leave Celestville and comes to America and visit the entire country pretty much. At least all the touristy destinations. Zephir comes along as the designated photographer. Not the best Babar book ever but still a fun, lovable book. Enjoyed.
Currently in the phase of never ending questions and curiosity. 3 loved the layout of cartoon elephant of real photos… and that Mama had been to more than a few of the featured locations.
Babar's USA follows the beloved character, Babar, and his family on a trip through the United States. Juxtaposing drawn pictures of Babar and his family with photographs by Zephir, the reader gets a tour of many famous places throughout the United States, such as Times Square in New York City, the Grand Canyon in Arizona, and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. This would be a great book for a K-2 student who likes geography and learning about different places.
This was a little above the 3 1/2 yr level, but I loved the layout of illustration on top of photographs of American locations. Would be great when they're learning states in school.
This is a great book to teach kids about real places in the USA in an interesting way. The pictures are realistic but also have cartoon elements to them.
I love how deBrunhoff used real photos of the different places Babar and his family visited. A great way for kids reading the story to see these places too!
