I enjoyed reading about Texas myths and legends. This was pretty typical for the series.

I was on the hunt for another book at Half Price Books when I spotted this one. It didn't look familiar and Halloween is next weekend so I decided to buy it.

There were several old favorites and some new stories. Several stories sent shivers through me. Many fall into the category of folklore, some are anecdotes, while a few are legends. All in all, this was a good choice to read right before Halloween.

Now, back to my originally programmed reading!

Mediocre stories, many based on dubious sources. Eclectic collection of tales, most of which do not raise much interest.

Credulous and simply written, this is pretty much a sourcebook for anybody looking to run spooky games like Call of Cthulhu - that's why I got it in the first place.

This was a pretty easy and interesting read overall, though I recognize many, many stories from books I read as a child (Stories That Must Not Die, Ghost Stories of Old Texas, etc). It would've been nice to have a few more stories centered around South Texas, as well, however, as opposed to sticking primarily to major Texas cities.

I really liked this one beter then When darkness fall -- It is full of short stories ranging from distant past to fairly recent future.. If you like to hear about ghost stories I think you will enjoy this book.
