Somebody was watching her every move. They knew her schedule, where her daughter went to daycare…
After walking out of an abusive relationship, losing her job, falling into debt, and the sudden death of her parents, Isabell Morgan thought her life was beyond repair until… She gave birth to her daughter Courtney and later found the love of her life, Erik. Together they moved to Ocean Bay Cove, a quaint small town on the east coast, and bought an affordable fixer-upper in a cozy neighborhood. Her life seemed to be finally headed in the right direction. And then… Her daughter and her fiancé went missing, without a trace…
I don’t know if it was the audio reader or the exhausting overuse of the word child (among others) or a combination of both, but I really struggled to finish this book. What might have been a good story was obscured by unimaginative vocabulary and a reader who lingered over words that were tiresome and repetitive making them more annoying than a sloth sliding down a chalkboard.
Bottom line- plot was insignificant because it was overshadowed by poor writing and a reader who could make one prefer to listen to a political speech in a foreign language. This book < root canal
The editing and proofreading for this book was unbelievable! It was so distracting it took away from the story. Plus, there was so much repetition in the telling of the story. I ended up just skimming through the last third to half of the book just so I could be finished. It could've been a great book if it was worked on longer before publishing it.
Either the author speaks English as a second language or did not proofread this book at all. Incomplete sentences, run on sentences, misspellings, and incorrect word tenses. Very frustrating to read.
I rated this a 5 because I never quessed this one. The characters were great. I didn't like that i don't know if there's a book 2 and what happened to the envelope.
I really disliked this book. I find it poorly written and the lisp of the narrator for the audiobook was jarring. The premise of this story is one that is fairly common, missing family members, but I don't feel like the author delivered any type of me take on it. Those that find the ending surprising confuse me, I one what was going to happen from about 1/5 of the way in. None of the characters grabbed my attention, and the writing was flat.o have come to hate the words "child"and "suspicious". It's been about twenty minutes since I finished the audiobook and I can't remember a single characters name, that is a bad sign.

This book was awful. I don't know what was worse - the writing or the reader of the audiobook. It seemed like it was written by a 12 year old based on the character development, vocabulary, and terrible redundancy of phrases and words. I could not STAND the main character, which is bad sign right off the bat. She is annyoing and whiny and just terrible. I wish that SHE was the one who went missing. Her fiance was very one dimensional, so you find yourself not caring about him, either. The reader of the audio book has a lisp that is jarring, and her attempt to do other voices is a total flop. Ugh - I could not stand this reader! But the writing itself is awful, too. I found myself thinking SOOOO many times "this word AGAIN?!", or "is she talking about this again?!" The repetition of certain phrases and words (If I had to hear that Aunt say "child" one more time!!!) was maddening. Also - usually I love plot twists, but this one just fell flat. It COULD have been very good. The concept was good - it was just poorly orchestrated in the writing. Usually when there is a plot twist, you can look back through what you read and enjoy the little crumbs of clues that were left all along the story, and think "OOOOh - it was there all along!!". No such experience this time. All the "clues" the detective shows that would have been actual clues along the story are never actually presented until the twist is revealed. So instead of being like "ooooh - I see!" you are instead saying "when the heck did THAT happen?", or "that character never said that!" It's all presented after the fact, but in such a way that it insinuates that it was there in the story even though it really wasn't. It makes you feel cheated as a reader. Cheap, unimaginative and lazy writing, bad editing, and terrible reading. A total fail, this one. I have never given a book just one star, but this one really earned it.
Holy moly this is bad. Awful, repetitive prose (we get it, the fiancé has a hard, muscular body). Terrible grammar (“linear line,” “more easier,” etc etc). I made it through almost an hour of the audiobook and encountered no plot whatsoever. And the cherry on top: the audiobook narrator has such a pronounced lisp for a moment I thought it was a caricature. Noooooo thank you.
This was a quick, enjoyable read. I got through it in two days but you could easily do so in one. This lacked the lengthy character development that most books of this nature have but I didn’t mind that. It went from intro, to child missing, to search, then solution. I didn’t see the ending coming, which is always a bonus for me! For a quick read I’d recommend it!
"Child," skip. this. book. The plot could have been great had it been fleshed out a bit more. The writing was elementary, at best, and the ending was completely predictable, in my opinion. Like many others have said - the audio book was painful as the narrator had a lisp.
This was a bit painful. Very repetitive with wording. Plush toy and the word, child. No one talks like that, child. Wow. The plot was good and the ending well done. Though there were pieces missing. Potential there but please edit these books. Cops don't say no worries. The aunt says child to her an unnatural amount of times. Very annoying..
I Did not enjoy the narration at all .The story could have been told in about two hours instead of four. It was repetitive and the l dialogue was somewhat infantile .
Good premise but writing is a bit off, too much redundancy Listened to through the library and struggled to finish. The only reason I listened to the end was simply to find out who did it.
This book really missed the mark. It lacked proofreading on the part of the author and apparently had no editor because the book was full of grammatical and spelling errors. I kept a running list, and by the time I finished reading, my list was quite long. The Lord is My Sheppard? Seriously?
Ocean Bay Cove (Cove County), Novia Scotia. Isabell Morgan (5, twin daughter/sister) was happy/contented playing with Mary (Cabbage Patch doll). Courtney Morgan (30+, wife/mother, Ca’Andral Dept. store clerk, hearing impairment, agoraphobia) had met Erik Joneson. They soon fell in love & were planning on getting married.
Erik took Isabell to Happy Dragons & Bunnies Daycare. Courtney (mother, OCD, BS philosophy, BS history, MS) called Sheena (daycare supervisor) to see how her daughter was doing. She was off to Ocean Bay Medical Clinic about her hearing. Detective Luc Renald (Ocean Bay Cove PD # 57 Division) came to interview Courtney. Erik (Courtney’s fiancé) & Isabell (Courtney’s daughter) are missing. Aunt Sarah Morgan was keeping Courtney (delusional D/O) company. Garden Green Blvd. Detective Renald was coming the neighborhood going door/door.
Would Erik, & Isabell be found? What about the kidnapper?

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written psychological thriller book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great psychological thriller movie, or better yet a mini TV series. A very easy rating of 5 stars.

Another book about a very disturbed, helpless female who goes off her meds. From the beginning the only thing she does is find fault. She’s afraid of her shadow. And would you really scream if you looked out a window and saw a shadow or person. No you would call the police or turn lights on. No she screams constantly. And what woman needs her husband or significant other to go to the park with them. If you are that afraid stay home. No she basically is a nut job off her meds who will make the reader want to Scream .
It took awhile to get into this story , kind of blah at first, but the ending was a lot more interesting. The ending was a big surprise. A woman called police , he child and fiancé were missing. He was to pick her up at daycare but they never came home. She was abused badly in the past which gave her some issues that she had to deal with.
Overall it was ok. Started out interesting and with the feeling as you read that something was not right. It does keep you reading but the turn out at the end is a bit... Meh (for lack of a better word). While it does address an important topic of domestic violence, it could have do so much more and also the ending... Could have been much more developed.
This book was an easy read and had an interesting twist at the end. I liked the short chapters as well. However, I would have given this book 2.5 stars if I could. The characters needed more development and there was a lot of repetition. The story also ended without explaining a few key concepts and left many unanswered questions.
I really wasn't expecting the ending!! I was really drawn in by the intensity of the book, i was fooled until the very end! I couldn't stop reading! I really enjoyed the book. I will be reading more books in the series.
Ok this was a 4 hour audiobook. A "gripping psychological thriller." Um, yeah, not exactly. It was ok enough to finish listening to while I finished laundry and other chores. Definitely not gripping. Definitely not a thriller.
This book felt more like an outline of a book. Phrases and sentences were repeated. At the beginning it felt like someone trying to get as many words into the story as they good. The story line was decent and had a fun twist but was very lacking in fleshing it out.
