I would've given this book more stars, except the author's misunderstanding hoodoo really got in the way for me to enjoy this. I thought the "religious response to racism" part wasn't really ground breaking or that well thought out. And although interesting, his extensive coverage of Father Hurley seemed better fit in it's own monograph. Otherwise, the book is an interesting read and one of the very few books on Black Spiritual churches.
