The Wyoming Cowboy #1

All I Want for Christmas is a Cowboy

Rate this book
Christmas arrives early when a fateful encounter leads two strangers to unexpected love in this holiday romance from New York Times bestselling author Jessica Clare.

Christmas may be coming, but it's just another day at the ranch as far as Eli Pickett is concerned. Someone has to take care of the herd and that means no holiday vacation for him. But that's just the way he likes it--it’s not like he has a woman to spend time with anyways. Most women don't want the ranch life, or the surly, silent cowboy that comes with it. Fine with him. He'd rather have the quiet of a roaring fire and the company of his dogs.

Cassandra Horn is trying to make it to her parents' winter cabin in Wyoming before the blizzard hits. She desperately needs a vacation from the chaos of Manhattan...and her boss’s boyfriend, who is making her life miserable. But Cass never makes it to the cabin.

A raging snowstorm causes her car to crash, where she's found unconscious by Eli. When Cass wakes, she has no memories of who she is. Eli takes one look at Cass's big blue eyes and dark curls, and like a Christmas miracle, falls head over heels in love. But while the attraction is mutual, can she give her heart to this cowboy if she’s not sure it’s hers to give?

This is a pen name for Jill Myles.

Jill Myles has been an incurable romantic since childhood. She reads all the 'naughty parts' of books first, looks for a dirty joke in just about everything, and thinks to this day that the Little House on the Prairie books should have been steamier.

After devouring hundreds of paperback romances, mythology books, and archaeological tomes, she decided to write a few books of her own - stories with a wild adventure, sharp banter, and lots of super-sexy situations. She prefers her heroes alpha and half-dressed, her heroines witty, and she loves nothing more than watching them overcome adversity to fall into bed together.

4 It’s that time of year again Stars

I love Jessica Clare and I love holiday books. I love this time of year. I love the cold, the snow, the decorations and I love holiday theme books. You throw in a Cowboy theme and I’m one happy cow girl!

Cassandra (Cass) is stuck in a rut. She works for her best friend who doesn’t treat her nicely and on top of that her best friend’s boyfriend keeps on hitting on her. All she wants to do is get away for the Holidays. So, she decides to spend Christmas at her parent’s cabin, alone.

I really did like Cass. I found her really sweet and endearing. She gets into a car accident and is recused by cowboy Eli who works on a Ranch near by. And get this, she loses her memory! Don’t you love the story line?

What I love about Eli is that he’s a real person. He doesn’t own the ranch, but he works hard and he’s okay with the single life. He doesn’t need a bunch of ladies and he likes to work hard. I really like Eli’s worth ethic and it was different you know. I mean, I love my billionaires, but I also like a down-to-earth, guy-next-door, sweet-heart guy and Eli fits the bill.

I love the tension between Eli and Cass and it’s a sweet, get to know each other kind of read. I honestly read this book by the fireplace, drinking hot coco, it was the perfect read for this season.

If you are looking for a sweet holiday read then All I want for Christmas is a Cowboy is for you.

A paperback ARC was provided to me by the publisher and I volunteered to review

3.5 stars- Jessica Clare is my go-to comfort contemporary read, so when I saw she had a Christmas book coming out this year (cuz y'all know I love a Christmas book), I was hype. This delivered everything I want from a Jessica Clare contemporary- light/funny tone, low angst, and (usually) awareness of potentially icky power dynamics or cringey tropes. This book is a forced proximity, trapped-together-in-the-snow trope.... with amnesia. So. Much. could have gone wrong here, but I really appreciated that she flagged where there were potentially problematic elements and made that a part of the conflict that the h/h worked through. I do think pacing wise this book is a little off, and to be honest, I think it may have worked better as a novella. But that being said, it was a fun read for me and I am the world's biggest sucker for forced proximity of the snowed in variety, so it wasn't hard for me to work through any of the parts that lagged a bit. This is a fun Christmas contemporary that delivers on it's promises and made me smile- recommended!

And yes, I know it's September & I'm already reading Christmas books. Don't @ me ;)

All I Want for Christmas is a Cowboy is the first book in the Wyoming Cowboy series and I had such a wonderful time with this one here. It actually really surprised me with how much I enjoyed it. I had forgotten how much Jessica Clare really works for me and this one was just perfection to be honest. I absolutely adored it in every way. It was also such a great Winter themed read. It does have a Christmas focus, but that isn't too strong, seemed pretty balanced if you just want a good winter romance with not too much Christmas themes. But if you want a solid Christmas read, then this will also satisfy as well.

This story begins with our heroine, who gets into a car crash, gets amnesia and gets rescued by Eli who is a cowboy and rancher. He is totally satisfied spending the holiday alone with his dogs for company and no Christmas cheer as he is a bit of a scrooge when it comes to Christmas. But then comes along this young woman, who stirs up his life in ways that he doesn't expect and a beautiful transforming love blossoms between them. But once her memory returns, will they be able to reach their HEA?

This story ended up being such a blast of good times. I absolutely adored the romance itself. If you like lots of sex scenes, then this one will be satisfying, they had LOTS of it haha Their blend of personalities was so fun. The hero is so surly and grouchy and the heroine is bubbly and sweet but stands up to the hero in all the right ways. I did enjoy seeing the way that they came together and worked through their issues. I wasn't a big fan of the third act conflict to be honest, it just didn't make sense to me. But some authors like to have this third act breakup lol it just drives me crazy when its not with a purpose.

Overall I found this installment to be fully satisfying and eager to read more of Clare's cowboys.

All I Want for Christmas is a Cowboy is like a cozy, feel-good, Christmasy, hallmark movie but in a book! A gruff cowboy, Christmas time, ranch setting, heroine has amnesia, snowed in together at a ranch, cute dogs, like stop…enough said!

Eli is a gruff cowboy who has never understood the love of Christmas. He grew up as a foster kid, works on a ranch, and sees Christmas as just another day for him. After all, the cows still need fed and someone has to stay on the ranch and take care of the herd while the rest of the workers take off to spend the holidays with family. Ready to spend the time alone on the ranch with the cattle and a pregnant dog, his life gets complicated when he finds a crashed car on the property with a woman inside.

Cass had taken off to head to her family’s winter cabin for the holidays, wanting to get away from Manhattan and her boss’s boyfriend who is making her life miserable and always hitting on her. On her way there, a blizzard hits and her car crashes! When Cass wakes up the next day, she only knows her first name and can’t remember anything else. She wanders around the ranch house and when Eli walks in she thinks he must be her husband. He corrects her immediately that they’re not married and gives her a brief run down of finding her in her wrecked car. When they get snowed in, they end up spending Christmas on the ranch together!

This was just a fun time! I grabbed the audio from hoopla, they have the whole series from this author and a bunch of them are Christmas cowboy themed so I miiiight be going on a binge. I loved the gruff, quiet cowboy hero who’d rather spend time on his own, his love for the dogs, the heroine coming in and shaking up his life (in the best way), and just all the snowy ranch Christmasy vibes!

New Yorker, Cassandra Horn is looking to escape her employers touchy-feely, cannot take the hint, celebrity boyfriend.  She has tried telling her boss who laughs it off. So with her boss out of the country, she decides a few weeks alone at her folks Wyoming cabin is exactly what she needs.

Rancher, Eli Pickett understands that animals don’t stop eating over the holidays and volunteers to be the only hand to stay behind during the holiday. He is looking forward to the quiet time alone and seeing to the animals care.

But a snowstorm and a tree have other ideas. Poor Cass crashes her car and ends up with amnesia. Lucky, Eli and his dog find her. With a blizzard bearing down on them, he takes her to his ranch. The tale that unfolds was sweet, sexy and offered moments of humor and cute puppies!

Clare mixed in heat and character growth as these two lonely people find their slice of happy. It was wonderful watching Eli, who is such a loner, open-up and take a chance. When he ate Cass’s pancakes I found myself smitten with this sexy cowboy. A little humor, stolen kisses and holiday magic await you.

From ranch life to trimming the tree All I Want for Christmas is a Cowboy, delivered a fun, predictable holiday romance that had all the elements to make you smiling this holiday season. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer

4- ⭐

Young woman with a stressful job and experiencing some harassment decides to go to her family’s cabin in Wyoming over Christmas for some alone time. Misses the turn in a blizzard, crashes her car and is rescued by a handsome cowboy. Of course, they’re now stuck on his ranch for the foreseeable future as the roads are impassable. Oh, and she has amnesia.

You know where this is headed, don’t you?

Cass can’t cook (or, apparently, do much of anything else) but Eli finds her efforts to make pancakes, help with the chickens, decorate for Christmas, etc. adorable. Before long there’s a steamy kiss that leads to some heavy petting and eventually hot sex by the fire. And then the weather clears enough that they can go back to her wrecked car to retrieve her purse and phone and …. Well, you can probably guess what happens.

It's a predictable, fast holiday cowboy romance. And I did so like looking at the cover!

"She was a mixture of sexy and broken all at once"

Cass is pulled unconscious from her car after she wraps it 'round a tree in a blizzard. When she comes to she can't remember who she is and she's snowed in on a cattle ranch with ranch animals and the cowboy who rescued her for company.

Christmas Romance Cliché #7 if I'm not mistaken. Jessica Clare gives us two likable characters in an angsty slow-burn romance. I smiled at the appropriate places, said "Awwww" at the ranch animals and tutted at how many rom-com issues could be averted if people would learn to speak. to. each. other. But I had fun doing it.

3.5 Christmas stars. Worth reading. I'll probably grab the next book next Christmas :)

Rated 4.5 - ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS A COWBOY by Jessica Clare is a sweet, endearing romance with a sexy edge to it. Jessica Clare is a new-to-me author whose style I thoroughly enjoyed. I’m not normally attracted to sexy books with man chests on the covers, so even though I knew her volume of books were in that style, I couldn’t resist this modern-day ranching story. I’m so glad the cover kept calling to me and I ignored my normal preferences.

Cassandra “Cass” Horn’s career as a model’s assistant would be the dream job for many. She spends her day catering to her employer, surrounded by famous people in New York City. But Cassandra’s personal life leaves a lot to be desired. Especially when the model’s boyfriend starts hitting on Cass to the point of harassment.

Hoping to escape this man’s persistence while the model is out of town, Cass plans to spend Christmas alone at her family’s cabin in a remote section of Wyoming. But, she doesn’t plan for the weather that wrecks her plans and her memories.

When Eli Pickett volunteers to run the ranch by himself during the holidays, he expects to be alone with his dogs, working hard in the peace and quiet. While chasing down a runaway cow, he stumbles upon a car smashed into a tree, almost buried by the snow. The unconscious woman inside is about to shake up this sweet cowboy’s world and give him a Christmas to remember.

This is a cute story. I finished it in two days because it was not easy to put down. I loved the stuck-in-a-cabin-in-a-blizzard theme, especially since this takes place on a working cattle ranch. The cowboy is adorable and so are his pack of dogs. Cass didn’t stand a chance. This worked even better since Cass has amnesia from her car accident. It puts two people together that wouldn’t meet on a day-to-day basis in their normal world.

The only flaws I found in this book were some repetitive thoughts in the beginning chapters. I’m not normally a fan of stories that revolve around Hollywood in any way, but this one was the perfect blend. It has that Hollywood flair because it’s part of the heroine’s career, but it proves that this new side of her personality is so much more fulfilling.

The love story is very sweet and endearing. I loved the dogs and how Cass gets involved at the ranch. It seems to be a juxtaposition combining this sweet love story with such hot love scenes, but the characters are what make it seamless.

The Christmas scenes are cozy and exactly what you’d imagine in a remote area. But they’re not the focus of this book. It will give you a warm, cozy feeling, but the emphasis shines on this couple who fall deeply in love. I loved Cass and Eli together. They were cute and realistic.

Easily a standalone story without reading any other books by Jessica Clare, but I’m sure once you’ve gobbled this book up, you’ll have to go back for more. ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS A COWBOY is exactly what contemporary western romance readers are craving. If you dream of living on a ranch in Wyoming, then this book will make that dream spiral out of control. I can envision single women everywhere hightailing it there after reading this book. Take some warm clothes!

I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I haven't read Jessica Clare in years but when I read the premise for this book I knew I had to pick it up.  We have a New York city girl, personal assistant to a model, who is trying to escape the city (and her boss's celebrity boyfriend) and spend the holiday at her parents mountain home while they are away in Europe.  That plan quickly changes when she's involved in an accident that leaves her with temporary amnesia and she's rescued and cared for by a sexy cowboy.

ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS A COWBOY is a sweet, small town holiday romance with an easy going feel and lots of cute animals.  I always enjoy snowbound stories in the winter this is a good example of that.

There's nothing extremely remarkable about the plot of characters in this one, I don't think they necessarily stand out.  But the story does fulfill my expectations for a cute holiday romance, especially if you are looking for one extra wintery with lots of snow AND a good guy as the hero.

Snowed in for Christmas, oh that makes for the perfect winter book!

Cass is an assistant (and oh my, she should quit, she can not see how much she is used, not to mention her boss' fiance keeps hitting on her, creep!) But she is a nice hardworking woman (that should take a chance). So she goes away for the holidays to be alone. Boom car accident, stuck int he mountains with a cowboy!

Eli was omg the sweetest. All he does is work work and no time for a woman. He is just too sweet and has let go of all of that. He might be a bit grumpy since he wanted alonetime too, but alas no.

They get to know each other. She is a complete mess at things. They start to fall in love and the snow keeps on piling up.

There will be drama as she starts to remember things, and there she does something so silly. I mean just talk with him woman! But I guess we need drama. Still, talk to him!

And then they lie happily ever after! Awwww.

Sweet and a great book this winter.

Abby Craden
I liked her Cass voice, it showed sweetness and innocence. While I totally saw the grumpy Eli before me too. She did well with setting the scene.

Me encantó!!

3 Who Are We Loving Stars
* * * Spoiler Free
This has everything a winter tale could want: A woman running from an icky situation in the big city and going to the country for safe haven. Then instead of making her journey easy... a winter snow storm normal for Wyoming happens and she crashes her car. A cowboy who lives and works the ranch nearby discovers her and takes her from the car to his cabin.

The storm continues, no cell phone use etc and both are stuck there for weeks. Simple and perfect for romance, right...
Except, our gal has hit her head and cannot remember who she is and why she came out to Wyoming in the first place. Our cowboy is taken by this woman... feeling feelings he hadn't in quite some time...

Both try to learn about each other as best they can... but it gets complicated. How do you romance a woman who has no idea who she is...

Yes, I read a Christmas romance in July! I needed a change from my other contemporaries. This was so cute and I really enjoyed it. We had a grumpy cowboy and a sunshine heroine who had amnesia. If that doesn’t sound like something I would love, then I don’t know what does.

Eli and Cass were such a joy to read about! They were so good for each other and brought out the better qualities of each other. Cass helped Eli become more soft and open to others caring about him. Eli helped Cass realize that she wasn’t happy with her past life and she should live her life for herself.

I adored the backdrop that the rance provided for this story. Just picturing the snow and how the house was decorated for the holiday really added to the story. Also, I have to say Frannie (the dog) really stole my heart as well. She just sounded so freakin’ adorable!

If you can’t tell, I really enjoyed this book. I will definitely pick this up again in a few months during Christmas time and you should too!

I picked this up because I wanted to read a festive holiday book full of Christmas cheer and it didn’t disappoint! The book was cute and I loved the cozy holiday vibe it gave, especially with celebrating Christmas in the country. Some scenes were a bit cliche and cringy(although I sort of anticipated that going in) but overall I enjoyed it!

In realtà, invece, risulta solo estremamente noiosa.

We all know why this is a "Just Becuase" challenge for me. I'm doing a just because it's Christmas in July! How could I not review a holiday-themed book? Well, I couldn't.

Jessica Clare is a newer author for me. I have to admit I think I read something by her but I'm not 100% sure. Which doesn't say much for what I could have read. Not that I let it reflect on this book. I went into this one like I've never read her, of course, I might not have. I do love a mystery.

I saw this one as I was walking around Sam's Club. That was before my Sam's Club got rid of most of there romance other than Nora Roberts and Debbie Macomber. Bastards! It was sitting on my shelf for a while and I finally decided that maybe I should give a try.

I'm pleased that I did. The story is written with mostly only the hero and heroine. Only a few other characters make a quick visit in it. At first, I wasn't sure how I felt about that but then I fell into the story and forgot all about my worry.

I really liked both Eli and Cass. They are both special characters in their own way. Eli dark and mysteries. You can't help but wonder about him. You get flashes of a wonderful sweet caring guy that he is. Too bad he tries to hide it throughout the book.

I also enjoyed Cass too. She really has a crappy working environment and should quit. As she spends time with Eli you can see how close these two get. They are great together and it's sad that it took them so long to figure that out. I really enjoyed this wonderful holiday story and can't wait to read more of Clare.

I received a copy of this book through Penguin's First to Read program. This is my honest review.

It's that time of year again when I want to read all things Christmas (and I even find myself more inclined to just veg out in front of the tv watching cheesy movies as well), so I was excited to be able to guarantee a copy of this book and dive right in to the holiday spirit. Unfortunately, this book failed to completely live up to my expectations.

First of all, it was severely lacking in the Christmas spirit. Eli doesn't have fond memories of the holidays, so he just has no intention of celebrating, and Cass is not really in a position to do much to bring Christmas spirit to the ranch since they're snowed in through the holiday. Even after Eli begrudgingly allows Cass to use Maria's decorations to add some festivity to the ranch house, the spirit is still lacking, so it didn't really feel much like a cheesy Christmas novel to me.

Second of all, it didn't fall into any of the classic tropes that I tend to associate with holiday romances (and I fully understand that that will be viewed as a positive thing by some people, but I personally want my holiday stories trope-y). Because Cass has lost her memory and is basically helpless after her wreck, Eli doesn't really get mad at her for ANYTHING. He doesn't tell her to stop feeding the dogs table scraps, he just cleans up the huge messes she makes in the kitchen, and he doesn't even resent her just a little bit for taking his bed which leaves him sleeping on the too-short-for-him couch. I think I would have enjoyed this story better if she'd been mildly banged up, but still stuck at the ranch because of the snow, and they'd been at each other's throats first: she's annoyed because she's trapped on this ranch with a strange guy instead of alone at her family's cabin, and he's irate because she's less than useless on a ranch and just adding to his already full workload for the holidays. (That would be classic holiday romance trope.)

This was my first book by Jessica Clare and it was a good one. I'm a sucker for Christmas stories and a super sucker for books where they hero and heroine are in a situation where they are stranded together with nothing but the heat between them. Therefore, I was a gonner from the beginning of this book.
Clare's characterization was wonderful. You couldn't help but love Eli and Cass. The amnesia that Cass suffers after a car crash in a winter storm allows her character to almost start over to decide what she wants out of life. When she enters Eli's life, she brings sunshine and cheer to a pretty lonely guy. As he struggles to keep his distance from her emotionally, she increases the heat by getting as close to him physically as he will let her. It's written in the storm that he won't be able to resist forever. When her real life comes calling, will she return to it or will she stay in the heat of the storm with Eli?

Rancher Eli Pickett doesn't mind Christmas but he's not really a fan. He was supposed to be alone for the Holidays. But thanks to a missing cow who's known to escape, he'll spend it with a pretty brunette from Manhattan who have amnesia after driving in a blizzard and losing control of her car. So what is she doing in Wyoming?

I'm not reading this series in order and that's totally fine. I love that dogs have such an important part in this series. I thought Cass was a little too blind when it came to her relationship with her boss and with Ken, but that's the only thing I found annoying in this book. The rest was just a delight to read and put a smile to my face. I liked Eli's personality. Not quite grumpy, but a loner who are not too stubborn to accept someone else in his life.

"This was Eli, her big, sweet cowboy with a crusty interior and a wounded heart, and she was utterly crazy about him."

✨🎄✨All I want for christmas Is a Cowboy de Jessica Clare Serie The Wyoming Cowboy libro 1✨🎄✨
