Made in L.A. is an anthology of stories rooted in Los Angeles. I don’t think all of the authors are currently living in L.A., but I believe they all had at one time or another. I picked up Made in L.A. feeling like I would gain insights on life in the City of Angels and, well, I wasn’t disappointed.

The first story is a novella by Allison Rose, called Between Broken Pieces. I admit, at the start, I was put off by the female character who was “maybe” taking pleasure in being sexually assaulted. Th

*Disclaimer!* I am a contributor to this Anthology, but am not gauche enough to have included a review of my own short story within what follows, a city defined by the prose of 7 fine authors:

Los Angeles is….movie stars. Between Broken Pieces: A tale that exposes the voyeurism, the obsession, and the sexual depravity inherent to those who choose to place Hollywood starlets on a pedestal. There is a shared malignancy within the characters of this story, and Between Their Broken Pieces you see a

Made In L.A. is a neat compilation of short stories set in and around the City of Angels.
Though, there is nothing angelic about the story's characters and follies.
It's a magical ride through realms I scarcely understand. Time, place and consciousness end up all wonky in many of the tales.
The bizarre and the macabre all get a chance to seep through our imaginations. I really wanted to stay connected with some of the characters well into a full length novel. Some I had to say goodbye to long befor

Enjoyed reading this eclectic collection of stories set in LA, the city of angels. Although the writing styles, characters and themes are diverse the collection works together. My favourite is No Vacancy, written by Bonnie Randall.

Made in LA is an anthology of stories of Los Angeles written by Los Angelenos authors. Between Broken Pieces by Allison Rose is a great story of a Hollywood actress Mallory Braun and her dealings with the dark-side of Hollywood. Going with the Flow by Gabi Lorino is the story of Sara from the eastcoast coming to Los Angeles with big dreams and finding it hard to set up her roots in Los Angeles. Her other novella Wild Irish Rose of an old woman growing old and how she had so many plans and is run ...more

Los Angeles is a place of many things. Hopes, dreams, fun, and horror. This collection of short stories has a little bit of everything in them. You will read about aliens, demons and angels, the young trying to be famous, and those past their primes. It definitely has something for everyone and no one will be disappointed. I loved all of these stories, some more so than others, but they were all a joy to read.

I won’t go into a summary of each story even though it pads my reviews. But believe me

I have to say it's great, because one of my stories is included (ENDLESS SUMMER.) But even discounting that, the other stories in here run from scary to heartbreaking to thrilling, fully good stories, all rooted in Los Angeles. Great beach reading and great fiction from some of our best area writers.
