Book: The Ancient Magus Bride, Volume 10
Author: Kore Yakamazaki
Rating: 4 Out of 5 Stars
I can’t believe I’m on the tenth volume of this series already! I must say that with each volume I am finding myself enjoying it more and more. I like the direction the overall story arc is going and how much character growth we are getting.
I really like the direction the story is going. In this one, we get to see the characters going to school and seeing how they work in this new environment. We get to see how they are growing now that some of them are apart as well as getting to meet new characters. Not only do we get new characters, but we also get to see how the world and the magic system comes to expand. We see how the magic has grown and see different sides of it.
We also get to see Chise trying to fit in with her peers. In the first class she’s in, we see her classmates learn that she is a mage and get to see their reactions. We also see her deal with a rather unwelcoming roommate. Add into the mix that she has to try to make her way through a new environment and try to make sense of that. While the Chise we get in this volume kind of reminds me of her character in the earlier volumes, the character growth does come out here. We see her face these rather difficult situations in an almost new light. She takes what used to wear her down and shine with it. She adopts and does so very well. She is taking what life throws at her and goes with it. I just like what has happened to her character and I really enjoy it.
The plot, I feel, has thickened and really developed into this amazing story. We started out with characters and a plot that was good, but it was something we have seen before. Now, the growth and the development that we have is just amazing. We get so much and get to see how everything is coming together. I really can’t wait to see how everything is going to play out. I just know that I need to pick the next book up soon.
Anyway, I know this review is kind of on the shorter side, but just know I that am really loving the growth and development that we are getting with each volume.
