Journey with me as we walk in the footsteps of Christ in that last week He was here on this earth. By walking with me, you will not only get a better understanding of what God did for YOU over 2000 years ago, but also what He is continuing to do for you today. I will tell you it is not an easy walk. In fact, it will be the hardest walk you will ever take, but to truly understand what waking up on Easter Sunday morning means, you must walk the darkness of the week prior. You will not walk it alone. In fact, if you stay behind Jesus on this walk, and only place your feet in His footprints, your life will be changed. Already a Christian? It does not matter on this walk. You know the scriptures inside and out? It does not matter on this walk. This walk is intended to change your heart. This walk is intended to change your life. This walk is intended to show you that no matter what situation you are in, Jesus understands because He has been there before you. Are you ready? Always remember it was not nails that held Jesus to that cross. It was LOVE. Open the pages to a love that will forever whisper to you, “I love you this much,” and He held out his arms on that cross for you.
This is definetely not the usual type of stories I read. Not at all. But I gave it a chance and I am glad I did. It is very well written and has a nice storyline and plot. It is different and that is what I like about it. It caught me in a different way because of the use of words and writing style. The story is about Jesus and the bible an so on but it is written in such a way that you read on and are in your own world. I did not annoy me and I read the whole story from first to last chapter in one session. An interesting way to see things in a different angle. I can recommend this to others.
I enjoyed the book and for the first time in a very long time, Easter had a significant meaning again. A good book to read and Rev. Debbie makes the story real and tangible. You feel you can tough Jesus, Marie, and Martha and smell the oil on Jesus's feet and see the gleam in Judas's eyes of greed. You feel like you are part of the crowd shouting Hossana and crying at the cross the next because of double standards. And then the realization hits you so hard you want to double over...He did it all for me!!
So anyone who knows me knows this isn't the type of book I read. When I first learned of Rev Debbie's books, I gave it a shot knowing I read her daughter and son's books, their mom's books can't be too bad. I was right. This book may talk about the bible and what Jesus went through but when they are in RevDeb's words, she makes it interesting.
The author used all scriptures while telling the story of Jesus from Saturday before Palm Sunday till Easter. I thought I knew the story but because of her thoroughness my understanding became a lot clearer on some details I assume wrong!
We know the story, but how about the heart? I love hearing the story using all the Gospel references together. My heart is full as I remember just how much Jesus loves me. Thanks RevDeb for including the Walk to Emmaus story on that first Easter Sunday. My heart was warmed ...
