A slim and basic book by rugby playing artist Geoff Stalker which manages to pack more in than most of the vapid painting manuals one usually finds. Worth having a look if only to check out Geoff's stunning work, particularly his portraits.
It covers materials (including a list of basic oil paints), painting surfaces (corduroy is a new one on me but looks very interesting), how to make your own canvases, painting landscapes, nudes, still life etc, and a whole galimaufray of exercises and ideas. Very good. Very inspiring
