This isn’t your average apocalypse. We’ve got biblical figures to the right, the Angels and the Devils, and ancient myths to the left, gods and all.

I’m somewhere in the middle, though I’m sure some might think I lean more towards the right. My soul belongs to a Demon, you see, because my oh so loving parents sold it before I was born for money and privilege. Too bad none o

*ARC kindly provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Before we start, I would like to thank the author for reaching out to me and trusting me to review an ARC of this book.

Now onto the review.

This book was good, I mean, it started off pretty promising. What with the main female character having her soul sold to the Devil way before she was born in exchange for money. I mean, to be honest, exchanging your baby for money sounds very a little bit shallow to me, but I mean, it happ

I take very few reviews requests anymore, mostly due to not having enough time to review them all and because it seems one can quickly become bombarded with all kinds of requests and I have a really hard time saying no, even if its a genre I don't like or have no interest in. It was just easier for me both time wise and mentally (LOL) to just close requests from new to me authors. But I've realized over time, I might be doing myself an injustice because who doesn't love discovering new (to them) ...more

Lexa’s future and her soul were doomed before she was even born! Pretty sure that explains her attitude, her solitude and her penchant to not plan ahead, after all, someday her demon will come to claim her and she is pretty sure all hell will break loose. What Lexa didn’t expect was that the Apocalypse would come, one horseman at a time and she could be humanity’s last hope to survive. Oh, and her demon has come to claim her, ready or not. Thanks Mom and Dad.

This book started out really strong. It is not the typical genre of book I would read and I was pleasantly surprised when I started to get into it quickly. The story of Lexa was a little sad to me. From her birth, her soul already belonged to a demon and she was marked. Although her parents couldnt tell her who owned her soul, Lexa ended up finding out and boy was she surprised. We watch as she is fighting for her life, well technically her family and friends' since she seems to be immortal with ...more

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A Mark Unwilling (The Reckoning #1) by Candace Wondrak is an urban fantasy with a lot of potential. In short, before Lexa was born her parents sold her soul to the devil for money and power. She's now somewhere in the middle of the angels, demons, and the old gods during the apocalypse and when the demon (not at all like what she expected) who owns her soul comes to collect she knows it will not end well. However, her demonic Mark

Just wanted to let everyone know - and to all those who received/will review ARC versions of the book - A Mark Unwilling has gone through its final editing process, and is officially set to release May 1, 2018. I reworked some scenes that didn't go over too well with some readers and added a few scenes here and there throughout the book that in retrospect, I think were much needed. Plus, there were some typos that were fixed! (Hurray for less typos!)

All in all, I added about 2,000 more words, a

The current release date for A Mark Unwilling, the first book in The Reckoning series, is May 1, 2018

For me, every time a book starts of promising, it slowly, but surely loses its promise. That, I can say, was NOT the case whatsoever in A Mark Unwilling.
This book, I will say, is A LOT. I haven't seen too many books out there that find a way to combine The Four Horsemen and Hades (yes, the Hades you are thinking of, the one that is from Greek m

Oof. I wanted to like this. Explaining the plot to my husband made it sound so good, but I had to say, ITS NOT AS COOL AS IT SOUNDS. And, that’s about it. Not really as cool as it sounds. By the end it was painful to get through. The main character is supposedly this college student but she’s written with the maturity level of a 13 year old. Original ideas, but lacked execution.

Thank you Candace for sending me an ARC in exchange for my honest review! It was such a fun read and I can’t wait for the next installment in the series!

Guys, It’s been eons since I’ve read an urban fantasy, especially one this good! There is A LOT going on in this first installment but it works. You’ve got the Four Horsemen, angels and demons, vampires, warlocks, AND Hades. Yes as in Hades from Greek mythology. It seems like a lot for one book but somehow it all fits together.

DNF @ 75% ... but I ended up skimming to the very end just cuz I was so close to being done.

*I was provided an advanced copy by the author!*

This book was not for me, unfortunately. I don't mind paranormal fantasy, but this was just a big nope for me.

And if you're not into cults and the Devil & not proceed.

This book was a bit all over the place. I didn't really know what to expect going in...but it wasn't this.

3.5 stars- This was a pretty fun book to read, Lexa can be kind of annoying and simple throughout the book but I liked her nonetheless and I would definitely read the next book to see where it goes.

I will say I already like Cloud quite a bit (although his name is pretty lame) and i'm happy he is still a central character.

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review, a huge thank you to NetGalley!

Okay, so this book has hopefully went through a major reread with a betareader or the author. Words were not misspelled, just running together (ie. horriblydistracting).

That being said, this was a quick paranormal/urban fantasy read that left me needing MORE ANSWERS #ibeg

The book begins with the information that Lexa's parents sold her soul for worldly possessions: house, money, career, yada yada. Which is pretty l

Yikes, I do not know what to make of this book. There was a lot going on and great deal of things that didn’t sit well with me. Though I recently learned I read an early ARC and that the book was slightly revised before publication, a lot of the opinions I’m going to share are overarching problems that I think are still applicable to the book.

What is this book about?
Her soul was sold to a powerful demon so her parents could live in luxury for the rest of their natural lives. Her demon is coming for her (and that's all I know coz I didn't finish this book).

Why I didn't finish this book

Where do I even start with this one? The premise was really interesting and I was intrigued by the prologue. Unfortunately that was the only good part of the entire book.

A Mark Unwilling follows 20 year old Lexa, who her parents sold her soul to a demon in exchange of money. And I hope you like mythical and paranormal creatures because there are warlocks, vampires, Greek gods, angels, demon, biblical figures and I don't even know what else. Apparently there is an apocalypse happening and Lexa is

It is the end of the world. A Demon owns her soul. But you will never believe who the Demon is...
This was a short book and a quick read. I read it in one sitting. I like the aspect of a Demon owning some ones soul because her parents sold it. It is something I haven't really seen in any other books I have read. Love the friendships that are made quickly at the end of the world. There was some plot twists that I wasn't expecting to be honest. There is so much action in this book even though is on

First off I want to say how excited I was to read this after reading the Synopsis! I mean come on a New Adult Urban Fantasy dealing with the Apocalypse, heck yes.

I was totally sucked in by just the first chapter and enjoying myself, however once it got to the point where the horsemen were being raised it all happened too fast with too little going on and each one was a little bit repetitive, and the cult bit was a tad

Before she was born, Lexa Blue's soul was sold to a demon. Twenty years later she's a bicker, sarcastic college student with virtually no (human) friends who, incidentally, can't die - not until her demon master comes to claim her soul. These traits prove rather valuable when the actual apocalypse unleashes in her campus - and she seems to be only one willing to stop it.

This book is thoroughly enjoyable. I recommend it

This is a fascinating book about a girl whose soul is already forfeit. Lexa Blue is a fascinating and relatable character with supernatural goings on surrounding her, but also with identifiable problems that emphasize her humanity. The story of her struggle to stop the apocalypse against the fabled four horsemen of the apocalypse is intriguing and will keep you on the edge of your seat. I look forward to what Candace comes out with in the future.

This is going to be a difficult novel to review, because while there were things about it that I enjoyed, it read like fan fiction and the writing really needs some work.

The action scenes were great, and the characterisation was pretty good as well, but there were a lot of things that dragged it down.

And it's disappointing, because this is the kind of story I should love. It's got a strong protagonist, romance, and every kind of fantastical creature you can think of. Unfortunately, the result is

Lexa’s family had every privilege - of course they did, they paid for it with Lexa’s soul.

She always knew that some day her demonic master would come to collect - but who knew that would be the least of her concerns with cultists, vampires and, most of all, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse riding free

The demonic mark on her body may make her invincible but with the apocalypse rising even she may not survive this

Lexa Blue... marked by a demon before she was even born because her parents sold her soul. For a soul will apparently get you a ton of money, and then the rags to riches story begins. Twenty years later Lexa is attending college even though she is marked and could be summoned by her demon at any moment. The only friend she has been close to is David, a three hundred year old w

This book started off so promising. Parents exchanging their baby's soul, to a demon, for cash? Is it worth it to be rich? I'm sure a lot of people would do that. How horrible. I was really interested but this book was kind of hot mess. We start with Lexa in college and her mark starting to burn and itch. Signs that the end is near, her master is coming for her.

Now, I liked Lexa because she's really snarky and has some funny one-liners. At the same time, she's supposed to be in her 2

Hey guys! I'm a writer, an office worker, a wife, a mother to two dogs and two cats, and half of a strange pair of young adults who flip the houses they're living in with the goal of having no mortgage (so that I can eventually focus on my writing career!). Needless to say, I'm busy.

Still, I somehow find time to write, to read, and to enjoy life. Wish there were more hours in the day, really!
