One wrong move, and she meets a guy with all the right ones…

Love Like Ours was amazingly simplistic and yet it managed to attack me right in the feels! Trust Melissa Foster to find a way to create a story that is low on angst and dramatics and high in romance and emotions. The perfect mix!

Talia Dalton lives in a box of her own creation. She has a comfort zone and despite the best efforts of her friends and family, she doesn't veer from it. That is until a near accident tilts her world on its axis, upsetting the delicate balance she's strived for her

Love Like Ours is the 3rd book in the Sugar Lake series that revolves around the Dalton family, and probably my favorite of the series, so far. Yes, it’s sugary sweet, with very little angst, but sometimes you just need a story that will put a smile on your face.

Professor Talia Dalton has only one focus, her career. After a disastrous college relationship, she has sworn off men. That is until she accidentally hits Derek Grant with her car. Neither Talia nor Derek can deny t

Assumptions... we all do them. It is so easy to assume someone is a type or behaves a certain way just by appearance or job. There is a reason for the saying "Assuming makes an Ass of U and Me!"

Melissa Foster takes this idea and couples it with two people who will have to break from their own self imposed ways.
Both had reasons for living the lives they had...but it took a distracted professor looking for a parki

4.5 - "Team Grant all the way!" Stars!

Another absolutely outstanding read from Melissa Foster. Love Like Ours is book three in the Sugar Lake series, and can absolutely be read as a standalone.

"You’re hard to forget."

The buttoned up professor, letting life pass her by, and the male dancer with the weight of the world on his shoulders certainly produced a ‘read-it in one sitting’ story.

"The best thing that’s ever happened to me was nearly getting run over…"

I absolutely loved Derek and Talia toge

Collected Professor Talia is not to be taken out of her comfort zone. She likes her life to be safe, planned and preferably without a man in it. One cheater was all she could take. Until she has the sexiest bluest eyes she’s ever seen right in front of her, ready to take her on a walk out of her comfort zone.

Bartender slash dancer Derek has one big goal in his life and that is to keep his father who’s an Alzheimer’s victim alive and happy for as long as he can. Besides that, he also has his job

Love Like Ours was the third book in Melissa Foster’s Sugar Lake series.

Talia Dalton was the oldest of the Dalton siblings. She watched two of her sisters find forever love but she was still gun shy after a few disastrous relationships when she was younger. She was a professor and approached everything cautiously. Well until she almost ran over a blue eyed, long haired god.

Derek Grant was a student. But appearances aren’t always what they seem. Well except his appearance was gorgeous and that wa

I have really been enjoying getting to know each of the Dalton siblings and watching them find their HEAs but I must admit that there is just something about Talia and Derek's story that will be sticking with me for a while. Melissa Foster doesn't shy away from difficult topics while bringing us a sweet and sexy romance and I think that is one of the things I love most about her books. In Love Like Ou

This story touched my heart.
So little we know about caretakers, but it's a good sign that lastly this topic is discussed more and more.
My grandmother had passed just about almost one year ago, she wasn't diagnosed with Alzheimer but last months she sometimes she didn't recognize her own daughter, her caretaker. This just could broke your

I thought this one was fantastic! It has it all. A seriously sexy male dancer hero and a stoic, conservative professor heroine collide (literally) for a sweet but oh so sexy romance. I loved Talia and Derek together. She needed someone to shake up her well ordered world and he needed someone to bring some calm to his chaos. The story is very well written and I think you'll enjoy these characters as much as I did. This is the third book in the Sugar Lake series but it absolutely can be read stand ...more

Confession, it was the cover that got my attention. And once I read the synopsis I couldn't resist finally reading my first Melissa Foster book. Of course, now that I have, I'm asking myself what took me so long? I loved Love Like Ours.

As mentioned above, since this is my first title by this author, in spite of it being book three in the Sugar Lake series, I read it as a standalone. And let me tell you, I've been missing out

Love Like Ours is the third book in the Sugar Lake series but can be read as a stand alone. I did not read the first two books in the series and was able to follow along. I do think that I would have benefited slightly from reading them only to know the secondary characters and their relationship to Talia

Talia and Derek has that magic

Talia heading to work for a friend never thought a simple distraction would bring her all she could ever desire. Derek was just the soothe for her body mind and soul. Derek learns that one can’t do it all and sometime the unexpected can and will become the norm. There are great characters family friends and supporters.

John Lane carries me away with his narration. Thank you.

How the hell am I reading my first Melissa Foster’s book just now?

Where was I before, like seriously???

Sometimes I read a book and just know that I will love the author’s other works too. In Love Like Ours I loved everything – the writing, the pace, the characters.

Talia is a professor at the university. She replaces her friend on the job, she loves her family and she is protective of the people she loves.

Derek is a student who works as a bartender and male dancer because the money helps him with

Once again, Melissa Foster has woven a love story that is so believable I thought I was reading about friends, not characters in a book.

Talia is a professor. I know many women who work in academia. She is so perfect, right down to her worry about Derek being a student. She also has a family that cares about her. Her sisters want her to have what they have, but they know she needs to unwind a bit first.

Derek is the kind of young man everyone wants their sister to meet. He's working on an advanced

Love like ours is the third book in the series and I must say that it's another winner. We have the forbidden element of a student/teacher relationship, but it doesn't last long which is a shame. It would have been very naughty, but then it wouldn't have fit the author's style. I liked the main characters and I have to give a shout-out to Derek and Jonah's relationship. He is a very decided son and he truly did the best he could do to help his father. He gave up a dream in order to help him. The ...more

Love Like Ours was such a treat! So much so, it should come in a Sweetie Pie Bakery box!

The Dalton family returns in this third book of the Sugar Lake series. This time, it's Talia's story. The careful professor has been hesitant to date, but her sisters aren't having it. This loving tale reminds us that we never know what anyone else is going through in their personal lives. Will Derek's interesting career choice become a deal breaker? It's always hard to resist the magic of her mother's love p

I loved this one so much. It's such a beautiful story. I can't tell how much this one hit me right in the heart. Derek is just dreamy. He has such a great personality and I just love how he treats Talia. Plus I mean the scenes with his father and how he's taking care of him will win over anyone. I loved how Derek helped Talia out of her comfort zone. Talia's family is a riot. I just love them. They add a lot of humor to the book. This is so well rounded to me. It has heat, heart, and humor. Heartwarming, sexy, fun and emotional romantic journey that gives two sweetly charming charters a chance at true love that they were not planning on..... could not put it down.

Talia Dalton is a smart, charming and determined to live her life with out a man after her last relationship went down hill.... Derek Grant is a sexy, sweet and deeply caring guy with a huge heart. They are perfect for each other and I was highly entertained from beginning to end.
This was a really solid romance - interesting characters and situations. Melissa Foster definitely does feel good romance well and this is no exception. The hero is swoon worthy and the heroine is big hearted but lacks complete confidence. The story was well done and did a good job of navigating the growth of both characters. Very sweet with little angst. The story is ultimately about letting go and embracing life and love which is a really nice message to hear these days!

The stage was set. The clues obvious. So why are these two fighting it tooth and nail? Foster shakes up the heart with sunshine, rain and the whole shebang. Love Like Ours is meant to be funny. The professor and the male dancer learn to look beyond the stereotype and follow their hearts. Each has more to offer than they present to the world. They just need a little help finding the courage to be vulnerable. Derek is a dreamer working his way through his reality. Talia is a realist, too afraid to ...more

If you like a read with a perfect hero, who is sexy and sweet and responsible, along with the smart but buttoned-up heroine he falls in love with, then you’ll probably love this. I found it cute and easy to read, but I’ll admit I’m in two minds about it.

Derek was gorgeous. In every possible way. He’s sexy, he can dance, he’s smart and utterly devoted to taking care of his father. Then along comes Talia and, boom, he’s done, and he’ll do everything he can to show her he’s the guy she ca

Love Like Ours is the third addition to the Sugar Lake series. I’m quickly coming to love the not only the town of Sugar Lake but its inhabitants as well. This title is very close to my heart, and I’m sure it will touch anyone who has had a loved one suffer from Alzheimer’s. It’s not only an emotional, sweet and heart-warming romance but very relatable.

This book wrecked me. Completely, totally, utterly wrecked. And it wasn’t only the love story, which was phenomenally beautiful and sure to inspire romance in any heart. It was the gentle, careful handling of Derek's father, Jonah, with early-onset Alzheimer’s, and the way Talia and every member of her family opened their arms and hearts and made Derek and Jonah a treasured part of their family. This book is everything home and family and hope should be.

Talia Dalton is a professor at the local university and thanks to the meddling and distracting of her family on the phone one morning, she almost runs over the very sexy Derek Grant. Derek is a grad student, bartender, occasional male dancer, and most importantly – the caretaker for his father Jonah who is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s. After their initial, almost run-in, they luckily keep crossing paths until Talia is struggling to keep her feelings at bay for the amazing Derek. Between he ...more

Love Like Ours by Melissa Foster took me by surprise! I read this sensitive, emotional romance featuring college professor Talia Dalton and graduate student Derek Grant, in one afternoon. I adored Talia and Derek’s seemingly opposites attract romance, the importance of family and Mrs. Dalton’s magic love potion.
Professor Talia Dalton took one look at Derek Grant’s long hair, two- day stubble, bracelets and rings and assumes he’s not her type. She’s intrigued and turned on when she watches him da

It was great to dive back into the Sugar Lake series. This series has been sweet and fun, and Love Like Ours is no different.

Talia and Derek could not be more different, however their differences just make them all the more perfect for each other.

Derek is the chaos to Talia's control. Whilst she is quieter and reserved, he is a dancer, a bartender and puts himself out there.

I love the spark between them. No matter their differences, their attraction to each othe
