FINAL DECISION: Hot and sexy romance between a scientist turned policeman and the young woman who would rather rule in the underworld than marry a duke. Lots of secrets in this one, but I loved the chemistry between Tessa and Harry.

THE STORY: Harry Kent has been forced to leave his dreams of science and the Royal Academy behind when he was betrayed by a woman. Taking on the family business of being a policeman, Harry is tasked with helping to take down Black, the king of the underworld. When a c

I loved the writing, characters and intimate scenes as usual. Callaway is the only author I have come across who writes erotica infused with so much love and never feels icky or uncomfortable. She is also the only author who consistently writes heroes I absolutely adore with two exceptions in her earlier books. That being said I didn't like the background of the story. I feel like she glorified mobs and organized crime which I have never enjoyed either in movies or books. This is t ...more

I loved this book so, so much and can’t wait for more!
4.5 stars

I have been waiting for this book for so long and I had very high expectations. I'm happy that The Duke Identity met those expectations and more. This book was so much fun to read. It had a little bit of everything: steamy romance, strong familial love, compelling mystery, rich setting, adventure, and amazing main and supporting characters.

I really enjoyed reading Tessa and Harry’s love story. I’ve loved Harry Kent since the Heart of Enquiry series and I am so happy he got his own HE

Sooooo this really worked for me, I don’t even know what to tell y’all. For some reason historical romance has been grabbing me, and I’m kind of loving it. I might be a little biased because a lot of this had my favorite tropes-forbidden love between bodyguard and client. Throw it in the regency era, and I’m sold.

I thought the heroine, Tessa, was super cute. She seemed a bit immature at times but it was part of her growth as a character. I liked how between her and Sam, they kind of had a love

You know when a book is so good, that you are still reading it at 2 am. Yes that person was me, I cannot express how much I loved this book, as you know this is the long awaited book about Harry Kent, and boy was it worth the wait.

All I can say about the book, is that Ms Callaway gave Harry a book that was so well deserved. This book had it all drama, laughter and a few tears as well. The chemistry between Harry and Tessa just sizzled off the pages.

I was disappointed to finish the book, because

First, the cover of this book is gorgeous and the glasses really make it for me. I still remember Harry as a young man from earlier books and seeing him grown up is a delight. Harry and Tessa have a long road to travel before they realize that they can trust another person with their heart. There are many obstacles and they are not easily overcome but it is worth it in the end. There is so much mystery, passion, heartbreak and love that it was hard to put the book down. The characters are colorf ...more

An exciting adventure featuring a scholarly policeman Harry and Tessa, granddaughter of the Black, the king of the underworld. Harry is on assignment to take down Black and has a chance encounter with Tessa. Hired to protect her, he hopes to get close to her grandfather but sparks begin to fly between the two! Harry had really closed himself off after a terrible incident when he was a scientist and was forced to put his work aside. Tessa fits right in with the underworld and is able to blend in ...more

The Duke Identity by Grace Callaway is a longer story but so MUCH happens!!  There is literally never a dull moment in this book. It is well written and done in such a way that kept me, as a reader, completely interested and fully absorbed.  There is tons of excitement and adventure and it moves at such a great pace.  I found it to be unpredictable and full of surprises. I truly love a story set in London's underworld, and to top it all off it has an enemies to lovers trope (which is my favourit ...more
Usually enjoy Callaway's works but this wasn't her best. I personally don't really like it when random characters from previous books/series come together and although it was cute seeing their HEA's, mehhh. Despite the chemistry between the main characters, I wasn't quite onboard with how they fell in love.

I was given an ARC for an honest review of the novel. We first met Harry Kent in his older brother’s HEA, Her Protector’s Pleasure. Well Harry is definitely all grown up. He has the sexy scholar vibe going on where you want to undress him leaving only his spectacles and have your wild way with him.

Sparks fly both literally and figuratively in this novel. The attraction between Tessa the heroine and Harry is believable. Harry meshes well with Tessa who is headstrong and passionate. She is able to
Phew, that was spicier than I remembered !
This is obviously a spin-off of her Heart of enquiry series that I haven't read entirely yet, I'm afraid (but I'll soon remedy that), with a bit of Julia Templeton's Rakhells of Rochester characters. However, if you haven't read that particular series, don't worry, you'll catch on anyway.
I was afraid at first that Harry's profession would be a major cause of drama/lack of communication (a major pet peeve of mine), however it didn't bother me at all. It'

I enjoyed the beginning. Towards the middle/end, it started to lose me. Tessa, rather than being smart and pragmatic, seemed a bit too juvenile and earnest. While sweet, this made it hard to believe that she could be someone that could run the underworld. and for someone that was part of the "House of Black", it seemed odd that the other "Dukes" never even recognized her. which made me think--again--that she wasn't as big a player of the House of black as she liked to think she was. Also, someth ...more

Loved Tessa’s and Harry’s story! Harry was humiliated he was called a thief and liar at Cambridge by a colleague and his daughter. Not knowing what to do he became a navvy but when he was almost killed he then came back to London and joined the police force. He meets Tessa Black by accident, she is the daughter of the King of the underworld. Once Black finds out he saved Tessa he hires Harry as her body guard! Harry is then asked to play the role so they can get evidence of Black for these torch ...more

I really liked the promise of this book in the beginning . However early on in the book was in extremely explicit sex scene with language more appropriate to uporn novel than a regency romance. I couldn't finish it and I'm highly disappointed in this book. I think I could have loved this author if she would have used less explicit language. I'm all for a good romance scene but this was too much And took away from the story.

Loved it

I really loved this book. I have read all of Ms. Callaway's books and the stories are always exciting and the characters feel very real. The way she writes you feel you are right there experiencing the story. Tessa and Harry's story was captivating and put a nice "bow" on the Kent family story. Not to mention it was hot, hot !!!! I can't wait for the next book.

Another good book by Grace Callaway about the Kent family. It’s Harry’s story and it doesn’t disappoint. Very likable characters and erotic love scenes are the norm and what makes her books so enjoyable. I wish she would’ve written about Gabby and Garrity. Maybe they’ll get a novella. 🙏 Give her series a try. I highly recommend them all.

I whizzed through this because it is my least favourite of Ms. Callaway's books to date. I'm more into grand balls and the upper class people of this period. I'm not really into this sort of East End cockney stuff. That's not to say that it isn't written well, because it is.
Just not for me.

Grace Callaway is one of my favorite authors. Once again she hits this one out of the ballpark! Can’t wait for the next book in the series.

This book was an amazing start for what is sure to be an equally amazing series!

I loved Harry and Tessa as a pairing, and Tessa herself has earned her place on my list of all-time favorite HR heroines. Grace really managed to create a heroine that had the perfect blend of admirable gumption and heart-wrenching vulnerability.

There are a number of incredibly intriguing characters that I'd love to learn more about, including Ransom and the mysterious Adam Garritty (and his wife Gabby--I am sooo ho
