Concise but with more meat than one would expect for a book entitled with "Back to the Basics". This was a wonderful Lenten read which, I can only imagine, will help most Catholics with their faith. I expect I will be coming back to this book in future....I can even see myself reading this to my children. For me, this felt like a very personal read. It was honest, forthright, and with a caring tone.

It was difficult to rate, though. I was between 4 or 5 stars. There were some very bad editing mistakes in the Kindle edition (not sure about the print edition). And I felt that some of the explanations/arguments were counting too strongly on assumptions that non-believers will never go for and non-believers, I think, are part of the target audience. But for myself, this was book that has given me much to ponder as this Lent comes to a close and that's worth a lot more than 5 stars. I highly recommend for all Catholics and those that want to understand Catholicism in general.

I always like the books that shed light on discerning vocations and conscience formation. Nice study guides for every chapter.
