This provides a snapshot view/ photo album with accompanying back story about Donatello’s work, hitting the highlights. It’s an excellent introduction to the artist, offering a glimpse of his character and the times he lived in through his creations. From David to Agony in the Garden, readers are offered a guided tour through Donatello’s major works of art and the passion he channeled into them, leaving me hungry for more. The photographs are glossy and vivid, bringing Donatello’s art to life. For all of these qualities, I give this book four stars.
