I enjoyed reading this book. It's a good book to have around all year, to share it's poems, toasts and reflections with family and friends. But if you read it beforehand you'll know where to find what you need when the time comes. The book, also, shares traditions that have been meaningful to other families. They helped me rumiate about our traditions as a family. The book respects the different beliefs and shows appreciation for each.

Some of the poems were so beautiful reading them once was not enough. I'm proud to be a contributor to this lovely collection. You think I may be biased? See for yourself! You're entitled to your own opinion. Yet, I bet I won't be the only one rereading poems!

This is one of my favorite books because I can always count on it to provide the perfect blessing for a family gathering, a memorial service, a holiday, celebration, or grace for dinner.
As a family, we have enjoyed choosing different blessings that reflect a variety of religious beliefs and backgrounds.
When my uncle passed away, this was the only book that provided an appropriate memorial poem for a non-religious maverick.
We keep this book in our kitchen so it’s always on hand for a blessing or a toast.


I highly recommend this book--it's not an in-depth religious study or an all-inclusive book, but it does provide just enough of the right things to say.

Family Celebrations by June Cotner and Nancy Tupper Ling is a great book to have on hand or to give as a gift. It takes you though all the holidays starting with New Years, then to Valentines Day, Saint Patrick’s Day, Passover and Easter, Mother and Father’s Day, up through Christmas. The book starts with mealtime blessings for all occasions, toasts for weddings, toasts and poems for babies and christening, anniversaries, graduations, housewarmings, and prayers for memorial services. Near the end it also has a nice section on different family traditions that I enjoyed and was able to take away some new things. This is a good book to have when you want to add a special note to a gift or are asked to say something at an event, this would also make a good gift,

Family Celebrations by June Cotner & Nancy Tupper Ling is a charming collection of toasts, poems, blessings, and other traditions organised by occasion. These range from meal graces to holidays to major life points, and everything between. This book is perfect when you need some quick inspiration. It's not bound by one religion or spirituality, which I liked. Aside from the proverbs and quotes, the rest can be tailored to your individual needs.
