The Just-About-Cocky Ms M

Recommends it for: Everyone who picks up a pen or a laptop
I've bought several of Ms. Hausmann's little, clever, to-the-point books, and found them to be stuffed with useful information, suggestions, admonishments, and how-tos aimed with laser precision toward readers, writers, reviewers, and most other filks even remotely involved with the world of words on paper, or in Kindles.

Just so you know: I'm already an author, but of obscure and academic tomes, yet I plan to break out soon into the wild and woolly world of historical fiction. And fully armed wi

Please get your elbow out of your reviewer’s crème de brûlée and pass the author’s ketchup. Raised with a course in manners from Vienna, Gisela Hausmann knows how to eat asparagus elegantly and how not to cut potatoes with a knife. She also knows how to court and respond to reviewers and how to interact in a socially acceptable manner with other authors.

This should be a must-read for all authors who crave their books to be the main course on a best seller’s list, and to court the likelihood of a

Gisela’s book of Essential Manners For the Modern Author is eloquently written, charming and to the point in her suggestions. A little book that is helpful indeed!

3.5 🌟 rounded up to four 🌟

A lot of people have a dream of becoming a popular and successful author. As she explains with numbers, millions of titles are being written and self-published. There are books on how to design the cover and edit the contents. There are books about marketing strategies too.

So what makes this book different?

This book talked about "don't" more than "do's". This teaches a few lessons on basic etiquettes on how to approach someone for a book review. A few examples she had

Great little book, for sure. Loved the common sense reminders about having manners while dealing in the cut-throat world that is book promotion. This could apply to any kind of self promotion in fact. My only negative comment would be the discussions regarding Amazon reviews. Gisela advises not to announce if you, as an author, are having trouble posting reviews on Amazon.
"Who wants to be associated with somebody who's suspected of doing review exchanges by Amazon? Be hush about this and carry

This author is known for her short no nonsense 'Naked Books'. She gets to the meat of her advice without any fancy fluff and filler. Hausmann offers simple helpful steps with good guidelines for promoting our books with etiquette and kindness and demonstrates how this can be done without coming off as a pushy author. She also includes how to write proper email requests when requesting book reviews with tips about keywords that will both, turn off a reader or pique their interest. We'll also lear ...more

‘Choosing the right words will affect your success more than how you eat asparagus.’

The gifted and talented Gisela Hausmann never ceases to amaze her readers. She graduated with a master's degree in Film & Mass Media from the University of Vienna. Gisela is a marketing and mass media expert. She is also an email evangelist. The author of over twenty books, she publishes books under her “naked” brand of books, meaning Gisela publishes “no-fluff” books. Born to be an adventurer, Gisela has als

I have read a few of Gisela Hausmann's books and they have always been outstanding. This one is no different. Hausmann's books are short and to the point, focusing on one essential aspect of writing. The Little Blue Book for Authors: Essential Manners for the Modern Author focuses on an overlooked area of manners and how they apply once an author has completed a manuscript. How does one go about obtaining peer reviews and what should or shouldn't an author do.

Much like Hausmann's "Naked" series

I consider myself to already have good manners, but this book still had some useful advice for me. In the world of social media where many authors are yelling 'buy my book', this is an important book for indie authors to read.

The Little Blue Book for Authors: Essential Manners for the Modern Author is an excellent book for all authors. This is the book authors should be referencing when they are seeking book reviews. There are way too many blogs out there that are spreading bad advice, which this book points out. Authors need to be very careful and they need to choose their words carefully and wisely. Bad manners and improper etiquette will make your journey as an author so much more difficult. Start off your journey ...more
