This is an essential read for any firefighter. This book is a how to for a positive approach to the job technically but also enforces the skill of gratitude and taking time to appreciate each great moment. It has the potential to make average great and the great legends. If I were a Chief I’d mandate my crews reading this book. Great stories both personal and professional.

Chief Lasky's highly-detailed knowledge of the fire service is shared with all in this very informative book. His attitudes regarding keeping the reputation and traditions of the fire service alive and well are commendable. It has its moments of "rah, rah - wave your pom-poms because you're a fireman", but overall has a great message for those of us working in this field. Highly recommended to those that might be in need of a reminder about just exactly what a great job this is.

This is the book the fire service needs. Too many firefighters get caught up in the politics of the job and the bad decisions that surround us! It's time to get back to the Pride that was so much a part of this job in the early years.

I liked it so much that I am going to donate it to my fire department, so other people have the oppritunity to read it. I think sometimes we forget why we do what we do, and need a gentle reminder.
