Okay, hear me out. I wont recommend you to read this unless you really are interested to know how to insult people in a creative way 😂😂. I read this because the last book ive read was heavy and i just needed to read some funny book before i go back to read some serious stuff. The book is divided into 13 broad sections from Nations, Music, Arts, Media and so on. I have to be frank that if you are easily get offended about your country and religion, then skip the first and second chapter. As for the other chapters, it was quite decent unless you are the subject matter in the insult. Then, you might feel hurt by it. I did list few of my favorites or the one that are so memorable even after i have read other pages. . . 1. Nations America is a large, friendly dog in a very small room. Every time it wags its tail it knocks over a chair. - Arnold toynbee 2. Relationships Love, in present day society, is just the exchange of 2 momentary desires and the contact of 2 skins. - Nicholas sebastien chamfort 3. Religion If you talk to God, you are praying ; if God talks to you, you have schizophrenia. - Thomas Szasz 4. Politics It is a pity as my husband says that more politicians are not bastards by birth instead of vocation. - Katherine Whitehorn 5. Professions : Legal and general Consultants are people who borrow your watch to tell you the time and then walk off with it. - Robert Townsend 6. Music How wonderful opera would be if there were no singers. - Gioacchino Antonio Rossini 7. Dramatic Arts : Theatre and Cinema Hollywood is where the stars twinkle, then wrinkle. - Victor Mature 8. Media : Television, Radio and Journalism Journalism is the ability to meet the challenge of filling space. - Rebecca Space 9. Fine Art and literature What is a writer but a schmuck with a typewriter. - Jack Warner 10. Inflammatory Children should neither be seen nor heard from ever again. - W. C. Fields 11. Sport I regard golf as an expensive way of playing marbles - G. K. Chesterton 12. Sex Symbols This man has child bearing lips. - Joan rivers on Mick Jagger 13. Throw Away Lines If your IQ were any lower, you’d trip over it. - Anon The only thing you took up in school was space. - Anon You are the kind of person who lights up a room by leaving it. - Anon . . My only criticism of this book is that it was too short and zero explanation on why these insults exist. I would have appreciate it more if there a little fun fact or trivia all on some pages to provide extra details to the book.
I have read a few collections of quotes before. This is now one of those I have read.
There is nothing particularly new here and some of the quotes are not particularly insulting. It is what I describe as a toilet book as it can be read in small doses. Which would usually be enough.
There are also a few well known quotes that have been changed from the original and typos in a few more.
It is not possible for me to recommend this book as there are many quote websites that will serve the same purpose. These are usually full of misattribution but no better or worse than using this book.
The odd funny quote. But if I'm honest, the best ones were in the final chapter. I feel like this would have been a better compilation were it more like the random insults and jokes of the final chapter, as some of the others were pretty dull, or required you knowing the people involved, which was kind of irritating for a silly, fun book of quotes. So yeah, not that impressed. Glad I only paid 75p for it!
Found this in the remainders bin. One of the sample insults on the cover says "I'm going to memorize your name and throw my head away," which is truly funny. It's a so-so compilation, but with bright spots.
