Transformation is progress. Until it implodes. Pursued across the globe by the forces of a a shadowy, unknown enemy, the warriors of the Medici Protectorate face their most dangerous challenge yet in the defense of the Notaro sisters, the secret legacy of the ancient Medici line. Nico Micelli shows the world a calm, mild-mannered personality, but under the surface simmers ferocious passions he struggles to suppress. To say he has a wild side is an understatement. As his work with the Brotherhood intensifies, he finds it increasingly difficult to temper his emotions. It doesn't help that his charge continuously tests his limits. Donni Notaro lives under Nico's protection. She and her sisters are in constant danger simply because of their ancestry. Without the protection of the Brothers, their lives would have been forfeit long ago. But that security comes with a cost--her freedom. Essentially sequestered, she becomes Nico's shadow, her clandestine pursuits putting both of them in peril. To defeat their foes, Nico must not only acknowledge his wild side, he must thoroughly embrace it. But the transformation may take him down a path he can never return from.
I grew up knowing family is paramount. I was blessed to spend time with extended family daily, not just on holidays or weekends. Because of those close-knit familial bonds, every day was full of love and laughter, food and fun.
Life took me away from that extended family for twenty years before I finally made it back. And while I'd done my best to keep the traditions alive across the miles, I realize there truly is no place like home.
Through my fiction, I share those traditions and the importance of relationships with you. Mystery or suspense, romance or mainstream, sci-fi or thriller—in my stories, family (however you define it) is paramount.

The Medici Series continues with the focus on one of the brothers, Nico, and, Donni, a Notaro sister that the brothers are assigned to protect. I loved Nico’s inner struggle throughout the story especially when it came to Donni. Nico is the brother's computer genius and more in his head than the others. The very question as to what was real or magic and his own will was intriguing. It was the perfect match for Donni and her willingness to go after what she wanted. The small details when the group ate or relaxed added another dimension to the story and wove the Italian culture throughout. This is a well-written exciting thriller and steamy romance. I’m heading off to read the final book and can’t wait to see how it all ends!
What am I to do with myself now that I finished Body Armor and Tortured Souls is not out yet? How am I to survive without knowing the end?
Four girls in need of protection due to a conspiracy against their family, four warriors bound to protect them at all costs. After two volumes, you start thinking you got the pattern right. You start believing you know where this is going and how it's going there. Right?
Wrong.
Because Staci Troilo is so good that keeps you guessing, while your stomach flutters in anticipation and you bite your nails in dread.
I keep repeating myself in my reviews of Staci Troilo's work, but it's not my fault if her books are all excellent. Body Armor, as the two earlier books in the Medici Protectorate Series, is fast paced, well written, full of suspense, with believable and yet incredible characters, compelling and hot.
Book 3 of the Medici Protectorate series delivers everything a reader has come to expect from this remarkable saga and more. The Notaro sisters, descendants of a royal Italian bloodline are back, along with the men of the Brotherhood, a special group sworn to protect them. Hidden dangers lurk in the guise of political unrest and intrigue, strained loyalties, and betrayals.
Nico Micelli and Donni Notaro take center stage this time as Nico struggles to come into his full powers, supernatural gifts that encompass balance, transformation and life. He's never been more challenged as his developing feelings for Donni leave him questioning his abilities both as her defender and the computer security expert for the Brotherhood. Nico is a complex character and Donni is the perfect foil for his roller coaster emotions. She’s sympathetic but also headstrong with clear opinions. I’ve enjoyed all of the author’s characters, but these two really a struck a chord with me.
In addition to the romantic thread, there is plenty of suspense as longstanding loyalties are tested, family relationships are strained and old enemies return. The characters squabble, fight and grow, their relationships far from black and white, but evolving through the upheavals inherent in family bonds. Staci Troilo knows how to deliver characters you fall in love with, and that is what I like the most about these books. She really knocks it out of the ballpark with this one.
I’ve enjoyed seeing the Brotherhood develop through this series as well as the sisters coming into their own. Nico’s gifts may be the most intriguing of all, but I know there is still more to come in the final chapter.
If you enjoy books that offer a firm conclusion to each story while leaving threads for the journey to continue…if you like well-executed suspense combined with supernatural elements in a contemporary setting, don’t miss Body Armor. I’m already looking forward to the release of book 4. I have no doubt it will be epic!
