The rating is from when I was a kid. My fourth grade teacher was throwing out a bunch of books and for some reason I no longer recall I ended up with a whole stack of them, including this one. I loved it! Took me forever to find out the name again. It might have been the first time I was exposed to homosexuality, and I think I was kinda torn and confused at that point. But Janice was very realistic portrayal of a teen girl coping with her insecurities.

Sensitive topic book; girl's teacher is gay and faces much discrimination. VERY well written, and definitely is a must-read-again :)
