Humor and sensitivity mark an exploration of a controversial issue as young Janice Green does not understand why everyone in town, including her mother, is getting so excited about the rumors that her favorite teacher, Mr. P, is gay.
The rating is from when I was a kid. My fourth grade teacher was throwing out a bunch of books and for some reason I no longer recall I ended up with a whole stack of them, including this one. I loved it! Took me forever to find out the name again. It might have been the first time I was exposed to homosexuality, and I think I was kinda torn and confused at that point. But Janice was very realistic portrayal of a teen girl coping with her insecurities.
