Read for class. The best thing about this book was its organization. The author clearly states his argrument, defines his terms, and makes his points using easy to spot language like first, second, third. All of which makes reading the book as a grad student much easier. This was an easy book to outline, highlight, and underline, the important pieces were clearly signaled. I appreciated the writing organization so much it has made me rethink my own approach to writing academically. The content is okay. Lots of stuff to think about as expected considering the topic. As always, there were major points I disagreed with and surprising points which caused me to question my preexisting ideas. Would anyone read this outside of a classroom setting? I am not sure.
While I read this for college, I would have enjoyed this for an everyday read. Cook hits all the hard topics and how Jesus would view each topic. From war and politics, to gender equality, and capital punishment, he hits every topic with biblical perspective. This is a book to prayerfully go through at Holy Spirit's pace. This book was extremely well executed. 5/5, a must read for critically thinking Christ Followers!
