Never in a million years did Sage Garcia think she would be spending her three-day weekend at The Last Resort Motel with the man she swore off years ago. If she hadn’t agreed to do a favor for her best friend Baxter, she would be enjoying her time off instead of being stuck up on a mountain with him.

After tricking Baxter into picking him up, Gabriel Ross is looking forwar

Sweet short story with Sage, a secondary character from D. Kelly's previous release The Evolution of Us. In the other book we see a bit of Sage's character: she is a lawyer and her mother organizes blind dates to help (better say force) her to find a man, but in the end she never ends up liking anyone. Truth is that Sage was burnt by love when she was a teenager, and she finds a hard time trusting another man and love.

In this story we met who was the man who seems to have 'ruined' every

I haven't yet read D.Kelly's The Evolution of Us, but the same characters crossover into Room #13. Best friends forever, Sage and Baxter have been thick as thieves. Growing up, Sage had her heart broken by Baxter's cousin Gabe, and instead of picking sides Baxter stood by Sage. Now years later, Baxter needs Sage to do him a favor. He needs her to go to The Last Resort Motel and pick up a guest. The thing is that Baxter hasn't exactly told her whom she is picking up, as he knows if he did - then ...more

What a wonderful series the Last Resort Motel is. For those just reading about this project, it’s a series of novellas that are releasing each month of the year and each of the 12 novellas is by a different author. I have found some amazing author that I knew nothing about that have great writing styles. This book is no exception.

Room 13 by D. Kelly is wonderfully written and with new characters you can’t help but relate to and enjoy. Plus her take on the motel’s staff which we have

This was a short and sexy second chance romance, perfect for a lazy afternoon. Sage and Gabe were great characters. They had undeniable chemistry and some residual feelings to work through from past pain. I liked how the author moved along the story; however, I had hoped for a little more depth and development. It all just went a little too fast. After reading about Sage in The Evolution of Us, I desperately wanted to read about her HEA. And knowing what D. Kelly is capable of writing, I guess I ...more

The Last Resort Motel is the last place Sage wants to be on her long weekend off. Even worse is who she finds behind the door of room 13

The Last Resort Motel is a series of books by a multitude of talented authors. Its a delightful second-chance, sexy and fun contemporary romance. This story is quite short, about 90 minutes to read, but it is packed full of story. As an unashamed fan of the author, and having met Sage in The Evolution of Us, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. Having s

Turns out, losing one’s heart was scarier than the motel…

“This motel looks like the place serial killers congregate to plot out their next kill.”

I’m a fan of second chance romance so when a favourite author offers one up in a novella-sized bite I was happy to dive right in. With a bit of crafty maneuvering, Sage and Gabriel meet up for the first time in years. Sage is not happy, NOT happy, but Gabe is anxious to put their past behind them. Not easily done when Sage’s entire life was shaped by his actionsmotel…

The Last Resort: Room Thirteen by D. Kelly was a sweet, quick second chance romance with Sage, who we first met in The Evolution of US, but can be read as a standalone.

Sage and Gabe have a history. One Sage has not let go off or forgiven. I loved Sage. She was strong and very likable. As an attorney her life is always busy, so she was looking forward to a long weekend. When confronted with Sage again, Gabe wants a second chance. But can she forgive him?

Once they see each other again, they cann

*** ARC received in exchange for an honest review***

Even though The Last Resort Motel: Room Thirteen is a short novella and can be read as a standalone I recommend reading The Evolution of Us first as this is a wonderful complement/spinoff. D. Kelly has masterfully spun her words into the story of Sage, who we have seen in the previous stories. Kelly's way with words in this novella just shows what an amazing author she is.

This story is not like the rest of D. Kelly's books, this simple story is perfect

This was a quick and easy read but D. Kelly did a great job with it. Sage and Gabe were easily relatable characters with great personalities.

Gabe and Sage find themselves reexploring their relationship and each other many years after they initially fell in in love and subsequently went in different directions.

I enjoyed the other characters in the book, but especially loved the ending of the swoon worthy!!!

D. Kelly is one of the best author out there! Her writing flows with every word she writes and her character's blow me away every single time!!
Gabe and Sage knew each other in high school and started dating but when they are ready to be together and someone gets in the way, now years later they are thrown back together for the weekend at The Last Resort Motel!

I will read anything Dee writes, so know that up front. With that being said, this was cute, but not like the "rip your heart out & leave you in tatters" stuff that I'm used to when I sit down to tuck in to a D. Kelly book. Not that that's a bad thing necessarily. I wasn't expecting angst from this one either. I knew it was a novella, and much more lighthearted than her other more recent books, but I thought I should lead with a little background info.

Okay, now that I've gotten that out of the way...

Room 13 is a second chance romance novella by D. Kelly, and is a part of The Last Resort Motel Series. The story is about a young woman named Sage Garcia, who is a lawyer in LA, and who finally has a three-day-weekend off from work. Sage wants to call one of her best friends, Holly or Baxter Ross, to go out to breakfast with her when she wakes up at 6:00 am on the first day of her vacation, but Holly is out of town with her boyfriend, and Baxter went away for the weekend to Las Vegas. If you have read D. Kelly's The Evolution of Us, you will recognize Sage and Baxter as the H and h's bff's. Baxter also happens to be Sage's gbff. If you haven't read it, you do not need to in order to fully enjoy this story.

I’ve been a huge fan of D. Kelly since her first book. And, even though I’d wish this was a full length and not a novella I’ll totally take it!!! I loved both Baxter and Sage in The Evolution of Us and glad to get more from them. My fingers are crossed for a book for Baxter still.

Sage is a busy lawyer and rarely gets time off. But, she’s gotten a rare three day weekend off and hoping to relax. Then, her best friend Baxter calls begging for a favor. A huge, name

Sage and Gabriel (Gabe) were in love in high school. One night they planned on having sex for the first time for Sage and Sage found him kissing another girl. Then Gabe went away and Sage was devastated. Thirteen years later Baxter, who is Sage’s best friend and Gabe’s cousin, asks a favor of her so he can spend the weekend with a movie star. Sage agrees to drive 24 hours to pick up someone for Baxter. When she gets to the motel in the middle of no where, Gabe is the person who answers the door. ...more

This was a cute novella! I just recently discovered this author and have become addicted.

While lately catching up on her other books I started “The Evolution of us” where the main character for this novella came from. You would know her as Sage, Holly’s BFF in “The last resort hotel: room 13” you get to see Sage’s life and why she is the way she is and what had impacted her during her teenage years. Gabe 😍 the heartbreaker. Almost enough said lol. Sage and Gabe are thrown back into each other’s

The Last Resort Motel: Room Thirteen is a quick, second chance at love story about Sage & Gabe. They were together when they were teenagers, but he broke her heart, and she didn't run across him again for over 10 years, and yes, a lot of it was to do with her not wanting to see him. However, when her best friend, Baxter, his cousin, talks her into picking up a friend for him, that's when she comes face to face with him. And that's all that I'm giving away because this is a novella length sto ...more

Loved this novella by D. Kelly!

I loved The Evolution of Us and was hoping to get a book about Sage and/or Baxter - two side characters in that book!
Sage was left heartbroken as a teenager after her first love left with no explanation. Years later, after agreeing to do a favor her friend Baxter, she finds herself face-to-face with the boy who broke her heart. Now he's a man and sexier than ever!

I love second chance romance and Room 13 just gave me the right dosage of that.

Sage is a secondary character from Dee’s previous release The Evolution of Us, she good friends with the main character.

In the other book, we see a bit of Sage's and couldn’t be happier to see more of her.

Sage had her heart broken by Gabe many years ago, and she never gets rid of that hurt, but what she doesn’t know was the motive behind of that, but when her BFF asked her to travel

In this short story we meet the guy that Sage (a secondary character from The Evolution of Us) was hurt by when they were teenagers ... Gabe! When Sage does her best friend Baxter (Gabe's cousin) a favor ... the last thing she thinks is that she will be picking up Gabe at the Last Resort Motel and giving him a ride back home.

Sage is such a spitfire, she doesn't take crap from anyone ... even Gabe, but she has a hard time resisting him. And Gabe ... your manly man, who just wants a se

This was a great second chance at love romance novella that tells us what happened between Sage and Gabriel (Gabe). There was definitely chemistry between the two and I liked their characters. There were times I wanted to grab Sage and shake the hell out of her because of her actions and behavior. I absolutely loved Agnes, she had me smiling and laughing more than a few times. She was a trip and definitely a fun loving character. I also enjoyed Max, Aurora and Bax. This short st

This is a quick, sweet read, all though it’s a short story, it’s long enough to cover the important bits and doesn’t feel rushed. The story follows Sage and Gabriel, Sage is tricked into picking Gabriel up by her friend and Gabes cousin Baxter. Sage and Gabe have a rocky past, Sage still holds some resentment towards Gabe, but being in close quarters to him is bringing old feelings to the surface again. Can Sage let go of the past hurt and give Gabriel a second chance? You will have to read to f ...more

We met Sage in The Evolution of Us. I hope we get Baxter's story, too, who was the other friend from that story! Sage and Gabe get a second chance to get it right in this story. Gabe is Baxter's cousin who broke Sage's heart years ago. When Gabe calls Baxter for help and find Sage at his door instead, he knows this is his chance to make things right with her.

Sage is feisty and won't easily give into her feelings for Gabe. I liked that she made him work a little for that second chance

Sage and Gabriel have a past relationship that ended horribly wrong, only she never knew why he cheated. Unfortunately he's the cousin of her BFF so she can't completely avoid him. Now she's sent to rescue him and willing to give in to the idea of a hate F*$#. As they do some rebuilding, she eventually finds out some difficult truths about things that happened and needs to find some forgiveness in herself for some people. Gabriel definitely does a good job of redeeming himself. Great story!

The Last Resort Motel: Room 13 is a deliciously sexy, sweet, novella about second chances! Sage and Gabe had the teen love affair until Gabe broke her heart. Fast forward years later and they meet again. The truth comes out, old feelings are new feelings. With sex out of this world.

This was a quick and sexy roll in the sheets with a satisfying ending. I loved Sage and Gabe, as well as Baxter. As always I love getting glimpses into Aurora and Max's life. I'm hooked on this motel and each author

The Last Resort Motel: Room Thirteen is a short, but sweet story. Sage is going to pick up a friend at the Last Resort Motel as a favor to her best friend, Baxter. When she arrives she discovers that “friend” is Baxter’s cousin and Sage’s ex boyfriend, Gabe, who hurt her back in high school. Gabe is helping out a friend by working at the motel for a week. I absolutely loved this short read that tells Sage’s story. We get to meet the man who has made everyone else undesirable for Sage & that man is Gabriel. Of course these two cross paths in the last place they expected, but c’est la vie. A great read that is from a dual POV which I totally enjoyed!
